Randel El is not even close to being in the same class as the other two guys you mentioned. He's mostly a special teamer.

Agreed, but they always got the most out of him. Their WR's are:

Ward
Holmes
Sweed
Wallace
Randle El

That's a pretty tough group to match up with.

I've heard they aren't very happy with Sweed's progress. He hasn't played much for them.

Plus, the Ravens have kept Derrick Mason.

Ravens | Reach two-year deal with D. Mason
Wed, 10 Mar 2010 17:12:10 -0800

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports the Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement on a two-year contract with free-agent WR Derrick Mason (Ravens), according to a team spokesman. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Palmer was affected greatly after Chris Henry broke his arm and eventually died.
the Bengals were something like 1st in red zone efficentcey and then dropped to the 20's after Henry went down.
Coles and Caldwell couldn't replace what Henry brought,so Carson started to force the ball to Chad Johnson more....
good move by the Bengals..imagine now if they drafted a LaFell or Bryant at #21?

I think the Bengals need to....Ocho and Bryant are not exactly youngsters.

Well, if the Bengals were going to pick a problem-child WR with diminishing skills and becoming injury-prone, then they did pick the better option.

sadly, if he can stay healthy, Bryant should be able to help them.

Broncos release Andra Davis and raiders dump "big money" Warren. Warren was a Huge disappointment, we could have had LT. So began the Davis Pete garcia era of draft expertise.

It wasn't just LT ... if the Browns really wanted a DT, we could of had Richard Seymour or Marcus Stroud ... both Pro-Bowlers. The story was that the scouting team had both ranked higher than Warren, but Davis over-ruled them and went with Warren instead.

NEW YORK - The New York Jets and safety Brodney Pool(notes), whose career appeared to be threatened by head injuries, agreed in principle to a one-year contract Thursday worth US$1.3 million.

The deal includes $1.2 million guaranteed, agent Ben Dogra told The Associated Press.

Pool wasn't given a second-round tender by Cleveland last week, making him an unrestricted free agent.

"He's going to sign there and have a great opportunity to play in a terrific defence under Rex Ryan," Dogra said. "It was the No. 1 place for him and hopefully it's the first year of many for him there as a New York Jet."

The 25-year-old Pool gives the Jets a replacement for Kerry Rhodes(notes), whom they traded to Arizona last weekend - as long as Pool remains healthy. He has been cleared to play, but Pool missed Cleveland's final five games last season after sustaining what reportedly was at least his fourth known concussion - a number Dogra disputes.

"He is healthy and ready to go," Dogra said. "Despite reports to the contrary, Brodney only had one known concussion. He is excited about the opportunity to play for the Jets and making a contribution to the No. 1 defence in the NFL."

Pool, a second-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2005, had 50 tackles, four interceptions and a sack before being injured at Cincinnati in Week 12. He has 11 interceptions and four sacks in five seasons, all with the Browns.

Pool holds the Browns' franchise record for longest interception return, going 100 yards for a score against the Baltimore Ravens in 2007.

I kind of hate to see him leave. I liked his all out style of play.

Is this the agent's way of saying that Brodney can only recall one, so there must have only been one???

He's had at least one per year for the last few seasons, and there was one season where he reportedly had two.

Were his concussions verified by a doctor or was he benched because they thought he MIGHT have a concussion? That is probably the logic there...

I'd be PO'ed to find out he only ever had ONE concussion and we let him walk for nada!

If you think you've had a concussion, you did. From the Mayo Clinic:

"Diagnosing a concussion is usually straightforward. If a blow to your head has knocked you out or left you dazed, you've had a concussion."

Maybe he's had so many concussions that he forgot about having them.

On the other hand, I've had 3 concussions and my short term memory is perfectly good.

While he is 31, he is probably better than anyone we have at the moment. And the Seattle connection is there.

Seahawks release Deon Grant

Seahawks release Deon Grant, re-sign Tapp

Veteran safety Deon Grant, who spent the past three seasons as a starter in the Seattle Seahawks secondary, was released by the team on Monday.

Grant, 31, has been in the NFL for 10 years and never missed a start over the past nine seasons with Carolina, Jacksonville and Seattle.

The Seahawks also announced the re-signing of defensive end Darryl Tapp, along with the release of deep snapper Matt Overton.

Earlier in the day, the team announced the signing of free-agent wide receiver Ruvell Martin, formerly with Green Bay and St. Louis.

Tapp signed his restricted free-agent qualifying offer, which was a second-round tender of about $1.2 million for the upcoming season.

Tapp's return is not a surprise, nor is Grant's release given he still has $17 million in non-guaranteed money owed in the final three years of his original six-year pact.

Grant's salary was for $4 million for the coming season, $6 million in 2011 and $7 million in 2012. With the Seahawks looking to get younger and start fresh with a new coaching regime, he was one of the veterans whose future has been in doubt.

His release leaves Jordan Babineaux and Jamar Adams as the only returning safeties at this point. Lawyer Milloy, 36, was also on the team at the end of last season, but he is an unrestricted free agent and obviously is near the end of his career.

Grant recorded 224 tackles, eight interceptions and one fumble recovery in three seasons for Seattle. He started all 48 games with Seattle and has a string of 144 straight games in the NFL despite finishing last season with ligament damage in his thumb that forced him to wear a cast.

Overton signed with Seattle on February 12 as a deep-snapping candidate out of Western Washington.

Tapp, 25, had 49 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks last year and has 18 sacks in his four seasons with the club.

I'm no draft guru, but isn't this draft supposed to be deep at the secondary positions?

I would think that the Browns could find a quality Safety (which we do need) somewhere among their 5 picks in the first 3 rounds ....

Deon Grant, Why the heck not, atleast for depth. He's got to be alittle better than what we got.

If the price is right, bring him in, we can always let him go later if he dosent have it. Better to have an option.

does anyone know if Grant is a FS or a SS?
this is a money saving move on Seattle's part and doesnt mean this guy was bad.. though i admit i don't know anything about him.

So true,...

At 31, assuming a full four years in college, puts the normal kid at 22 into the NFL. That's at least 8 full contact seasons as a safety, maybe more. I would say he doesn't have enough left in the tank to consider not taking a youngster in the draft,....unless of course the convention is, "we can band-aid with this guy and move up to take Bradford." (No thank you,... )

Pool walked, Elam is our best/only Safety currently. Mike Adams is a backup.
If this guy has anything left (he should) and this is just a cost-cutting move by Seattle.... then we should have him on a plane to C-Town this morning.

We don't appear to have sniffed at any of the Safeties on the market, however, so I don't expect us to look at this one. Hopefully that means that we're going Safety in 1st, and probably again in the 3rd.

I can see us making a trade on Draft day to move up & take E.Berry

Really Teams ahead of us can move down 2-3 spots, still get a guy they want, save a few million per draft spot and gain a 3rd round pick, it's not hard to see some team like TB or KC or even Seattle would jump at it.

Been doing a little research on Grant, and from what I find looks like the guy has really fallen off this last season. Doesn't hurt to bring him in for a look, but I wouldnt be overly joyed with it either. Outside of being a "leader" on the field (old vet without physical skills) I wouldnt expect anything from him.
