Why must the guy make it romantic? I usually get something special from Ambiance that will allow both us to enjoy the day/evening. That, some candles, a nice dinner at home and maybe a bottle of wine make it perfect.

I certainly don't want chocolate (fattening) or flowers (they die). Both are a waste of money imo.

Why is it that Valentines day is for lovers right?

Then why is it the woman gets upset if you don't do anything special, and all she gets you, if anything at all, is a stupid card.

But I'm covered, I ordered 2 dozen long stem roses 3 weeks ago.

No., no...the card companies, specifically Hallmark, invented Sweetest Day. As much as I love getting presents, that is one I will NOT acknowledge.

Valentine's Day on the other hand, I do like. but I don't need it to remind me to tell my hubby how much I love him.

I think they should make a "Do Your Favorite Ex-Spouse day". I mean, there's just not enough violent crime in this country!

Quick Question - Is Sweetest Day only a midwest thing?? The reason I ask is that here on the east coast, no one has heard of it. But everyone I know from the midwest, knows about sweetest day? Just a question?

BTW to all the men, DO not purchase any nightgowns, teddys..etc for women on this day ( unless she is cool with it) because most women think that the gift is more for you , not them! Plus, you will probably get the size wrong and if she is not your wife and you break up with her, someone else will be enjoying your purchase next year!!!

Apparently, it's origin is in Cleveland and it just hasn't caught on everywhere.

And apparently folks at American Greetings like to perpetuate the myth that it's a Hallmark Holiday, since Hallmark outsells them that day.

Oh boy, been there believe me. Two years ago, my wife gave me a personal calendar for work. It had every date, I needed. I pulled it down last year but put it in a desk drawer to refer to when needed, which is almost monthly.
