Some people refuse to believe that the guys who don't put up stats are important. Special Teams, Fullbacks, Kickers, etc. I'm amazed offensive lineman get any love around here with all the rampant football ignorance we have.

Purp wil prolly kill me, but we need a dedicated back-up that can LS so we can dump Ponty. Someone that can also block and fill-in for Mack if needed

The guy gets his name called once in 5 years. We'd be foolish to cut him. If there is any part of our game that's damn near perfect, it's the kicking part of special teams.

I agree Royal is not as bad as people make him out to be, I mean 11 catches and 6 drops on the year for the guy signed to replace Winslow( about 70 catches) the move looks brilliant in hindsight. Royal or Estandia, hmm such a hard pick to choose from such talent.

Either he or Royal will estandia on the sidelines, so either way it means little. he was part of the wonderful fleamarket deal for Edwards so the King of Queens must at least bring him in before he is quietly CUT. I hope Moore is not cut as he is light years better than those two stiffs.

We get it, you hate Mangini.
We totally hosed the Jets in the Braylon deal, although I admit he was a helluva decoy and a great downfield blocker - two things you want most out of a #1 wideout.

I definitely agree. While Tannebaum thinks the Jets can get the best out of Braylon (and Cromartie too, he said it in a radio interview), I think that Chanci Stuckey will be better this year also. Stuckey didn't fit into our team last year, but i expect this year he'll be much more productive (nless we pick up another WR in the draft and Robiskie/Rookie beat him out for 2&3.

Trusnik will also improve as it is still the earlier part of his NFL career. Finally, we get a 3rd round pick, which is close to Braylon's worth anyway.

The Jets got an overpriced primadonna WR that can't catch. While many say we got hosed in the trade down deal, we got them witht he Braylon trade

Yeah, it is the NFL,,, and you are too worried about guys picked up this early.. hell, there isn't a sure sign that they make the team so what's the big deal,,,

I know you have a perspective that lasts more than 16 months. These players aren't on par with what was on the team from 2005-2009. If there is not a sure sign they make the team, why were they the go to guys last year? Maybe not go to guys, but as relied upon as anyone ahead of them.
( Ventrone excluded, Stuckey, Costanzo, Estandia, included )
Stukey, In my opinion, is less than Frisman Jackson was, less than Tim Carter was, less than Kelly Washington, he is not winning games, not keeping drives alive. Not often enough at least, he is a slot receiver, but if he can't make plays?
Ventrone is a non factor, I think only half of him as I did Davon Holly and Holly wasn't much more than stable, about 50% chance of defending the pass.
Estandia made some plays last year, he may be equal to a Darnell Dinkins of a couple of years ago, but Dinkins was the 4th TE a few years ago.
I have to look forward not backward, but re-signing these, is as significant in my opinion as the Centers the team picked up at the start of the season when LeCharles Bentley got injured.

To another poster, as for " there is no reason for my angst"
Have some perspective on the Caliber of production you could expect from the players on the roster Prior to January 09, when Mangini gutted the roster.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I think the sound strategy of dumping a pro bowl TE and your top receiver payed great dividends for Both Quinn and Anderson last year. i would have LOVED to see with THEY thought f such brilliance. What wonderful strategy to jettison( Pun INTENDED) your top targets and leave your QBs with the worst wr corp in pro ball.
Estandia we resign so do we cut the wonderful Robert Royal, that Mangenious was touting after he dumped Winslow or the talented young Moore.

Stay tuned, at least Holmgren will not allow the arbitrary "Mangini man label...but he traded Quinn for a ham sandwich, so who knows. But hey I agree that really worked out well for the browns to dump their top 2 targets because that wonderful strategy was a segway to dumping two QBs who had no one to throw to.
Such genious at work.

Winslow was coming up on needing a contract and had injury questions. We traded him and he got a huge contract from Tampa, we got a 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick. He had a terrible year in 2008, he has slowed down and can't attack teams vertically, can't run block (something that Robert Royal could really do).

Now Royal wasn't expected to replace Winslow's production, but he was expected to play much better than he did.

I have no problems with letting Winslow go, he was my fav. player, but sometimes it's simply the right time to part with somebody.

As for Edwards, I think we hosed the Jets on that deal. The weeks before we traded Edwards, you would notice that Quinn wasn't going to him. Our QBs lost confidence in Braylon. Sanchez isn't that confident in Edwards either.

I really think you over value these guys. Quinn sucked, B-Eazy sucks, Winslow is a risk and as I said, we needed to part ways.
