Daman and Mac...when I say loser policy I am in no way referring to the person holding the policy. Simply the fact they now have to take on people knowing when they go in they are going to have to shell out big bucks.

Can you show me where is says they won't/can't charge more for people with pre existing conditions?

Someone like me,, probably will have 3000 dollar or more a month premiums,, But I won't be denied coverage

If it takes effect and I go through the same problems again there is a chance I would not be here if they do not pay for the tests I have had done, or delay them for a long period

I feel your pain man. But I'm not 100 percent sure why you feel they wouldn't pay for or delay potentially life saving tests?

Does anyone have an idea about how much health insurace will cost for the uninsured by 2016. I'm hearing by then the penalty for not having it will be 2.5% of you income. If that is the penalty for not having health insurance, how much will it cost to have health insurance, meaning the average person without health insurance ? Let's say single making 30k?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea but you know it is going to be hefty. The insurances companies are going to get their money from everyone else to cover all the loser polices they now have to take on.

The info was posted in this thread... web page

BTW...did you know that the fine you spoke of, $650 (rounded), does not go into effect until 2016?

Under the plan approved by Congress, the fine for not carrying insurance would be...
...$95 a year or 1 percent of a person's income starting in 2014, whichever is greater
...$325 or 2 percent of income in 2015
...$695 or 2.5 percent of income in 2016

so $40,000 income pays $1000.....not bad.

My concern isn't so much how the numbers look as projected. I worry about what the numbers will be in 2017 and beyond.

I understand insurance companies are in business to make money, but I don't believe they would have been charging what they have if they could have gotten by charging people $695 a year.

People who make more are going to pay way more...I think abother 3.5% more...

This is a money grab from people who make or have some money and an effort to regulate and even push insurance companies out of the insurance business. In time they are just going to quit offering health insurance...which is what the socialist want.

I think there are provisions in the bill that stipulate the insurance companies must spend 85-86 cents per dollar on actual health care....in other words, you can only have a margin of 14-15% in which to actually run the business....you know...pay things like lights, office supplies, employee pay.

I don't think there is any business that operates on a gross profit of 15%....in case you didn't know, gross profit is the line after the cost of goods you sell. Net profit is the bottom line...what's left after paying all the other bills and obligations.

Sorry....thats government interference.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

By 2014, health insurance companies will only be allowed to vary rates based on age, premium rating area, family composition and tobacco use.

I should post this in yellow.

Yes the source link is right wing, but it doesn't change the man or the actual words we said on WJR radio.

Rep. Dingell: It's taken a long time to 'control the people'
Peter Barry Chowka

..

Dingell rebuts claims that he said purpose of health care reform is to "control" the American people
March 24, 2010 7:44 pm ET — 7 Comments
Conservative media figures have asserted that in a March 22 interview, Rep. John Dingell said health care reform will "control the people." In fact, Dingell has said that conservatives are taking him out of context and has explained that he was referring to "overseeing" the "insurance companies."

Dingell said "it takes a long time" to enact health care reform
Dingell stated of the implementation of the health care bill: "t takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people." In the March 23 interview, Dingell was talking about the length of time it takes to implement such a complex law:

HOST: Are we ready to let 72,000 more people die in our country, if 18,000 died or whatever the number is, the figure that anyone comes up with, per year because of a lack of health insurance or health care, when this bill doesn't basically take effect until 2014?

DINGELL: Paul W., we're not ready to be doing it. But let me remind you, this has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is, when you're going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways, it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.

You know, our Republicans have spent a long time not participating, not helping, harping and delaying. But at the same time, they have contributed nothing to this and have made no offer whatsoever as to what it is they want or what they stand for.

Dingell said that he was talking about "overseeing" the "insurance companies." In a March 24 statement, Dingell said that he "was referring to the insurance companies":

"Right-wing bloggers are attempting to take my words out-of-context in another pathetic attempt to destroy the historic step taken yesterday for our country. During an interview on Paul W. Smith's show, I said:

'The harsh fact of the matter is when you're going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.'

"If one were to listen to the entire interview, and not just a clip creatively chopped up for political gain, it is obvious that by 'people' I was referring to the insurance companies who we must do a better job of overseeing. Specifically, we are going to end the deplorable practices of those who rescind the health insurance policies of people on gurneys heading into emergency rooms.

Limburger peed his pants yesterday afternoon over Rep Dingell's comment...unreal.

Maybe a few listeners do not realize that John Dingell is 83 years old, suffered a stroke a few years ago and sometimes, things he says might not come out exactly as he intended....

OR...maybe dittoheads actually believe the propaganda "stinky" tries to spread?...

...what I find ironic..many trying to stir the pot over Dingell's comment...have already allowed themselves to be controlled...
