University of Florida cornerback Joe Haden solidified his draft stock that took a hit at the NFL scouting combine when he clocked a relatively pedestrian 4.57 in the 40-yard dash.

According to TFY Draft Preview, Haden ran a 4.45 on his two 40-yard sprints today at the Gators’ Pro Day workout.

The Florida Times-Union is reporting that Haden ran between the high 4.3s and the low 4.4s today.

This should ease concerns about Haden’s speed.

Haden reportedly wasn’t 100 percent at the combine, so that may have contributed to the slower than expected time trials.

Meanwhile, linebacker Brandon Spikes, who has also drawn scrutiny due to an eye-gouging incident that got him suspended at Florida, had a rough day.

According to TFY Draft Preview, his unofficial times were a 5.02 and a 5.08.

Several offensive linemen have run faster than that, and Georgia defensive tackle Jeff Owens, who’s 305 pounds, ran a 4.83 at the Bulldogs’ Pro Day on Tuesday.

On a more positive note, Gators tight end Aaron Hernandez impressed with 4.59 and 4.64 times in the 40-yard dash while also displaying his strength and endurance by bench pressing 225 pounds 30 times.

Damn, you ain't running down an OL in the NFL who picked up a fumble let alone a RB or receiver with that speed.

That's awful.

Yikes! Usually I don't put too much stock into 40 times, but when it's that bad something is majorly wrong. There were three offensive linemen who ran faster than that at the combine.

With that said, if Spikes falls into the 3rd round, I want him.

Rich Eisen could beat him with a 20 yard head start.

Dude, alligators are fast. They have ridiculous straight-line speed, but can't turn very well (out of the water).

This just goes to show you, STATS (and 40 times) ARE FOR LOSERS!

hehe.....

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I was hoping to post "InBeforeSomeonSaysStatsAreForLosers" but you beat me to it. Although, you were kidding when you said it.

Seriously, an alligator would get to the QB more often than most of our LBers we've had in recent memory. Get a jersey sized and suit him up!

As for Spike's 40 time, my 2-year old daughter ran a 5.01 last week. A slow eye-gouging LB won't be drafted in the top 3 rounds.

I know all this. Part of why I said it . . .

They can jump over a chain-link fence, too.

I may have embellished there. I'm pretty sure they've been known to CLIMB them in order to gobble up dogs.

Sorry guys. Back to Brandon Spikes . . . .

Either way the idea of them jumping period seems ridiculous to me, and would like to see one jump.

that is what happens when you have to stop the roid cycles to drug test before the combine and draft.

The thing is guys usually run alot faster at their pro days (generous time keepers being my guess).

I wouldn't touch this guy with a ten foot pole, because it reeks of the juice if you know what I mean. He's an absolute beast in the SEC (which is the best conference in the NCAA in football), and is said to run 45-46 range, and then comes out and runs a + 5 AFTER drug testing begins??

Sorry man this kid has entirely too many ????s now for me to even be happy considering him before the 5th round.

As I've stated before I would LOVE to get spikes and haden. I'd easily spend a 3rd or 4th on spikes I don't care about his forty time.

I agree. The guy was good in high school, he was good in college, he is a football player.

If he falls to the 3rd round I wouldn't mind at all if we were there to scoop him up.

Don't know if this has anything todo with it but I read that the field conditions were terrible. It was supposedly raining all day and it was muddy as hell.

Don't know if this is true or what not but that 40 time is still atrocious.

Then why didn't it effect the other guys??? Haden improved his time. I have a hard time believing that a guy could actually run WORSE at his pro day than he did at the combine. Sorry, but that is the bass ackwards opposite of how it usually goes. Something is up with this one, and I wouldn't sniff this kid with anything higher than a 5th.......too many ???s about his character and a shall we say an "odd" drop off on his 40 time after drug testing. Nope wouldn't sniff him until the value was too great to pass on.

Out of all the UF guys the only one that I would want is Haden..........and I don't care about his 40 time. Oh I would take Tebow in rounds 3 or 4..........said that one for you Peen!

Only if after a 4-12 season in which he led the league in tackles, this board was OUTRAGED when he didn't make the probowl and call it the biggest snub ever, because they obviously have something against Cleveland and the Browns.
