Marc Bulger was releaed today, I wonder if he has anything left in the tank (obviously he won't be a Brown)?

Quote:

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams released quarterback Marc Bulger on Monday, perhaps clearing the way for them to take Sam Bradford with the first pick of the draft.

Coach Steve Spagnuolo said in a release that it was difficult to make the move and wished the 33-year-old Bulger well. Last month the Rams signed A.J. Feeley, presumably as next year's backup on a team that was 1-15 in 2009.

"It is always hard to part ways with someone you care for and appreciate," Spagnuolo said. "I will always be indebted to him for his work ethic, character and leadership."

The Rams were among the teams impressed by Bradford's workout last week in Norman, Okla. Bradford, the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner, made a convincing case that he would make a complete recovery from shoulder surgery last October, completing all but one of 50 passes.

Bulger started eight games last season, but was sidelined the last six with a fractured left shin bone, finishing the year on injured reserve. Rookie Keith Null started the last four games, and veteran Kyle Boller also made four starts.

Bulger made 95 starts for St. Louis starting in 2002 and took the starting job from Kurt Warner in 2003, leading the Rams to a 12-4 record. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2004 and 2006, throwing for more than 4,000 yards in '06, but has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

In nine seasons, all with the Rams, he completed 62.1 percent of his passes for 22,814 yards, with 122 touchdowns and 93 interceptions. He signed a six-year, $65 million contract in training camp in 2007.

Seahawks trade Sims to Lions

The Seattle Seahawks have traded guard Rob Sims and a seventh-round pick in this month's NFL draft to the Detroit Lions for defensive end Robert Henderson and a fifth-round 2010 draft pick.

The deal was announced by the Seahawks on Monday.

Sims was Seattle's fourth-round pick in the 2006 draft and started 34 of 45 games played in his four seasons with the Seahawks. Sims started all 14 games he played in last season at left guard.

Henderson was a sixth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2008 and signed with Detroit as a free agent. He spent the season on the Lions practice squad.

Gould be we did make a mistake. You really never know for sure. The thing is that since he was in Seattle chances are Holgrem knows a little about him...

MH just might have a little inside info.
The FO may believe that Womack is as good or better than Sims??
or a draft pick is preferable?

I was hoping we could solve some problems without spending a draft pick.

It sounds like the Redskins are trying to dump Albert Haynesworth...

Quote:

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins are attempting to trade Haynesworth, and that a deal could be made before the April 22 draft.

Pro Football Talk

I don't want Haynesworth at all. But it's crazy that a guy that got a huge contract just last off-season has become available so quick.

After reading the story, it sounds like Shanahan and Haynesworth aren't going to mesh well. But the Redskins just cut Haynesworth a $21 million check on April 1st.

It sounds like they are just trying to make a salary dump.

Weren't the Buccaneers one of the teams that was in on him before last season? I guess the Rams and Titans are interested too.

Haynesworth was a trouble maker in DC, took off plays and.faked injuries. His salary will need to be picked-up in part by the Redskins when /if he is traded. Chalk one up to the boy genius, Dan Snyder.

Actually, the Redskins are probably going to want salary relief in exchange for Haynesworth.

Like I said before, they just cut him a check for $21million on April 1st.

So a team can probably get Haynesworth for a 3rd rounder and several million dollars.

[Disclaimer] Please note, I do NOT want a guy like Haynesworth on this team. [/Disclaimer]

Could you imagine a D-line with Haynesworth AND Shaun Rogers?

I'm pretty sure that the next three years are more or less guaranteed as far as the majority of his money on this contract.
So the 21 million was going to be paid regardless. I could be wrong there though. Actually makes him more tradable now that the 21 million is off the books. So in this uncapped year it should be no big deal to the Redskins beyond that's a lot of money. (IMO )

[disclaimer]Understanding your position and agreeing with you[/disclaimer]
We would have to position them as DE's and put Rubin in the Middle at NT because neither of them would hold the nose as disciplined as Rubin does. Either that or we switch to a 4-3 and have the nastiest set of DT since the 02' Ravens.....But we definitely don't have the personel to do that.

I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

From the National Football Post:

Quote:

Speaking of the Jets, they are actively shopping guard Alan Faneca, defensive end Shaun Ellis and linebacker Bryan Thomas and will probably waive these players after the draft. You might be surprised to read Faneca’s name, but he’s the first to go after the draft.

Faneca is now what, 33 or so? Probably why theyre making the move. Just another reason why building through the draft is so important. Grow your own, otherwise you way overpay for aging players with insane contracts. They lucked out in a sense that it is an uncapped year otherwise they would be stuck with his contract.

I agree that he's old and probably not as good as he used to be. But he's still better than what we got. If signed to a reasonable contract, who knows...

He's a name, will probabaly make more than his worth and is another stop gap. I am sick of signing old vets, I want young talent to DEVELOP on the line. He comes in and then we might ignore the Oline in the draft or he'll get in the way if we do.Such as Jamal Lewis getting in the way of Jerome Harrison. Also he still stinks of steelers crap, I dont want any ex steelers.

add in that there are plenty of mid-to-late round OG's in this draft and we have plenty of mid-to-late round picks.

They usually get decent productivity out of them too
