I'm glad we worked out Iupati. But the only way we get him is if we trade down or trade back into the 1st round.

It'll be a highly-unpopular opinion, but I'd trade several picks to get back into the back 1/3rd of the 1st round to draft him. I think he's going to be a monster at guard.

Kid(Iupati) was FAR more comfortable on the left side...almost night and day....so while I wouldn't say that he couldn't come in and play RG...I would say that he has a ways to go on the Right side then if he were to come in on the left side...
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

I don't think that would be very unpopular. I'd do the same for brandon graham as well.

Why can't you get over the fact that your thread was deleted because there is a massive Tebow thread you could have put it in.
Jesus...how hard is that to understand?

If he played mostly Left at Idaho, then move Steiny over. This kid is a beast.

Having 12 picks, I don't think it would be unpopular at all if we used some of them to trade back into the 1st round. Unless we had to give up our 2011 1st round pick. Then I would be 100% against it.

What I meant though is, Toad knows it would just send people off the cliff to take him at "Seven."
Not me. Though I agree it is "stupid" in the order of how NFL business is done, it wouldn't bother me at all.

I agree. I'd be fine with taking Iupati a 7 if Berry was gone.

Well, I'll be honest and not backtrack, but I said earlier that Iupati is the ONLY pick that I would make in front of Berry. Either would be acceptable. Depends on your personal outlook on what is more important impact wise.
Probably Berry would be the better pick.

I'm an IDAHO guy, and I would take Berry over Iupati everyday and twice on Sunday. Even if he turns into the best guard in the world ... he's only going to have so much impact playing Guard inside a 5-man line. A safety in the mold of Ed Reed is going to inject all kinds of benefits into our defense.

And with our luck, they would end up using him to a better level of efficiency than we would Berry,... Berry is the safer pick,... Or, were you perhaps talking about Berry falling to Pittsburgh,...would that not be a nightmare -- on paper, the best safety tandem in the history of the NFL.

I know I'd be pretty darn happy if we had two picks on that Thursday night, and Iupati was the 2nd (still not sold on who should be our first). I'd put up with watching a lot of the 2nd day of the draft without the Browns having many picks.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

If we don't go Haden in round 1 this is the kid I hope we target in round 2.
Our secondary is horrendous, and I would be super happy with adding a CB/S in rounds 1 and 2.

Grossis take on where the thinking is now.... Nothing earth shattering The Cleveland Browns' Fave Five in the 2010 NFL Draft By Tony Grossi, The Plain Dealer March 19, 2010, 7:58AM View full sizeDarron Cummings / Associated PressTennessee safety Eric Berry reportedly injured his toe during position drills, but it's said to be minor.Browns President Mike Holmgren has not been shy talking about his desire to draft a quarterback. When he, General Manager Tom Heckert and coach Eric Mangini all showed up at Florida's Pro Day workouts Wednesday, the natural connection was made between the Browns and quarterback Tim Tebow. The Browns later signed up for another visit with Tebow. But they were also there to see cornerback Joe Haden, who redeemed himself with an improved 40 time. The Tennessee workout conflicted with Florida's, and the Browns were hardly represented to see safety Eric Berry pull up with a sprained toe after his second position drill. Very interesting. 1. Eric Berry Tennessee, free safety Analysis: His chiseled upper body kindles memories of Eric Turner, the last safety the Browns took so high in the draft. The toe injury is supposed to be minor. 2. Joe Haden Florida, cornerback Analysis: Will the mock drafts return him to the Browns spot at No. 7 now that he's allayed concerns with a respectable 40 time? 3. Earl Thomas Texas, safety/cornerback Analysis: Some analysts still rate him ahead of Berry. 4. Sam Bradford Oklahoma, quarterback Analysis: He's back on this list just in case St. Louis doesnt take him and Holmgren feels the urge to move up and snatch him. 5. Mike Iupati Idaho, guard Analysis: He is a long shot, but this powerful and versatile lineman can start immediately at guard and easily develop into a solid run-blocking right tackle. Dropped from list: Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame, quarterback. If the Browns contract Rob Sims, then take a DB. If not, then dropping down to get Iupati later would not be bad either.
JMO, but at this point the defensive backfield looks really weak, our weakest unit.

You mean our's, right, not this draft class? I think most would agree we have to upgrade the secondary - we need corner and safety help.

That's why we're gonna trade all of our picks and take another QB project. We NEED to sit tight and take Berry, then maybe squirrel around looking for another nut.

I don't have a problem with that, just not at the expense of other problem areas. Hey, I ain't calling the shots, so I'll just defer to Holmgren here,....

The Browns better draft a runningback this year. If the Browns want to win the AFC North they better start drafting a runningback every single year. At least until they can get a 1200 yard rusher, or combined yardage player.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Only 1,200 yards? That's not enough, that means we are only going for 75 yards a game.
I think Hillis and Harrison can carry the load for at least this season, but I agree we should always be drafting new running backs with the way they go down. Good thing we have James Davis who has no chance of not being a 7 time Pro Bowler.

We have time to burn.. I agree with you. Information is king right now. If I'm FO for Browns.. I'm collecting as much info as possible about as many as I can. I do agree with OoohRah that you do defer somewhat to areas of need.

Not a bad point,...but I'd also want to be taking an OLineman every year too,...(and at a "slightly higher" pick) so somebody can block for the kid.
