You made a great deal, Arch. Glad for you. Hope it pulls you through the storm. The one neighbor on the right of my brother who just happened to have a brand new Honda generator, kept coming over to me and saying it was continually cutting out on her.

This happened about 3 times, finally I said I better check it more thoroughly, and sure enough, at the bottom I saw an oil cap. I unscrewed it and it had a built in stick. Check for oil and it was bone dry. Borrowed some from my brother, filled up her brand new Honda and it ran smooth the rest of the week-end for her. To be honest, I've never had anything to do with generators where I live, so it was a learning experience for me. The neighbor across the street, we had to do the same as you did; took it completely apart, cleaned all the parts in the carb, empty the stale gas and got their machine working also. We had four neighbors to help out simultaneously, that week-end. Was that fun, running back and forth. The one neighbor on my brother's other side of his house we had a long extension cord running through my the cellar basement and into his cellar for him to get his sump pump going and give him some power for electricity. What a week-end.

Mental note to self: Don't decide to get new tires the day before a snow storm..

Apparently EVERYONE decided to get tires today I just spent 2 hours at tire discounters.

JC- I went to the store this afternoon just to get a few things. Talk about total mayhem! The shelves were empty, people were running around like crazy, unreal. It looked like something out of a movie.

We'll probably only get a couple inches at the most- I hope. Regardless, I'm glad to have a wood burning fireplace,a deep freeze full of vittles and an extra fridge just for beverages, spirits too. Michelle, you guys can always camp here.

You know, I've thought about buying one....but haven't. I could at least power a couple space heaters. I might seriously consider one for the future.

It would have been a sight better investment than that damned Nintendo Wii.

Yeah,up here in Bellefontaine, they're talking a foot or more. But we'll live.

Thanks, Stabber. I know people that do a lot of boondocking while camping love the little generators with Honda engines. I hear they are some of the quietest.

Not only are they quiet, they're the most dependable I've EVER seen! I'd definately go the extra $$$ and get one with a Honda motor.

yank out dem generators baby!!!

For something as un-newsworthy as some snow and ice in the winter? Of course it's going to snow, it's wintertime in Ohio....whadya expect??

I love how the experts keep changing the forecast for the next couple of days.....I've said it before and I'll say it again: All these satellites and radar and doodads, and they still can't do any better than they did 30 years ago!

Please bring snow and as little ice as possible....I'd rather have 20 inches of snow vs. an inch of ice......

We'll be right over with our zoo!

And, Pit....the Wii was a far better investment than a generator would be. And much cheaper, too!

Seriously though, everyone caught in a heavy snow should be careful, and not try to get through it if you don't have to. There are so many news stories of people sliding into a snow bank and wonding up stranded or worse, etc., so don't be one of them!

Be careful up there everybody!

I know it is only a snowstorm...............but you lose power it is miserable and the elderly will suffer the most!

Driving in the ice is not a joke.............and walking in a lot of snow is not easy!

You all know more about that then me (it has been awhile) but Dayton will always be my home!

Take care and stay warm...............hopefully it will be a bit more milder then expected!

Stock up on groceries.................cook lots of hot soup.............break out the heavy blankets............and if you have a fireplace be thankful and bring plenty of wood inside the house.............like yesterday!

Now they are saying it's looking like "MORE SNOW, LESS ICE". That's a good thing! Up to a foot...still better than an inch of ice.

yes....a job interview....

I talked to them today and asked if i can reschedule....and the mean (fill in a mean adjective here) said in a VERY passive aggressive voice..."i would have to call you next week to reschedule again........[long pause]....if we don't find anyone this week...."

Gee, sounds like a great man to work for. If you go, be very safe...and allow a few hours extra drive time. The area you are talking about is supposed to get more ice than snow from what I can tell.

That's a job I'd pass on.

If they treat you that way in an interview, how do you think they'd treat you as an employee?

Clickin'.

Good lord, you guys are behaving like ya never saw snow before. It's just a storm, be careful & you'll be alright. You can do without power, & ya don't live in the woods, this isn't 1910 there are stores on every corner. 'Stock up for a week'..... come on, ballpeen. LOL....
Canadians are just winter-tough I guess, except for Toronto. The city had to call in the army to clean up a blizzard a few years ago. The rest of the country laughed at 'em. Reach down and check them, Ohio.

And it's not like they gave me a good notice either...she(yah it's a she) called sunday night to tell me about my appointment on tuesday....she knows i'm in columbus and a fulltime student you would think they would be a little more flexible....i don't even know if i would take the job if i get it..i just want to go to get another interview under my belt....i'm still a rookie at it..been to 2 so far...this would be my 3rd one...feel more confident with each one...

Yes that part of ohio is suppose to get "wintery mix" i think that would be worse than just snow...at least that can be cleaned up right away....i would HATE to hit a patch of black ice and go off the road....

i'm 75-25 right now for not going.....i will just call and say fine i'll reschedule next week if it's possible otherwise adios....

Should be a fun AM commute within another hour. While the plows/salt were out on 71 into Cleveland, so were the 4-wheel drive nazi's doing 80 while everyone else was at a safe 55-60mph on the way in this morning. It only takes 1-2 of those to cause an accident and utter chaos on a morning commute. I will be looking forward to leaving by 2pm this afternoon, probably right when the good stuff begins to hit, hoping to get home before it gets too bad.

As I was putting that back on, I noticed a fuel shut off on the bottom of the tank. The dolt never turned the fuel on!!!! I cranked it open, pulled and boom - it was running.

LOL.... ..I'd have loved to see your neighbors face, counting the money you gave him, I just sold him a generator for $50.00 bucks that dosent work, and then to hear it fire up.....LOL...
