He won more games than Tim Tebow ... is less of a project, and we took him 2 full rounds later.

Great first two posts in this thread... Compared to the last couple picks, this is a fantastic value. Hey, at least he hasn't had multiple serious injuries...

i love it. aside from bradford, the only guy i'd want. that we took him in the 3rd, seeming to know no one else would take him before, shows great experience in getting good value. very exciting.

We'll see, I have my doubts about the player's skills but he's got all the intangibles and the moxie.. I'm glad they took him to be honest. And we got him in the 3rd. I'm totally cool with this gamble.

Just cannot say that he's any better than Charlie Frye.
Hope he is better. Go Colt. Go Browns!

Fragile? I think the injury in the bowl game this year was the first major injury he's had. He didn't miss any games in college.
He's about as big as Drew Brees and has the same kind of accuracy. Considering we drafted him lower than we took Charlie Fry ... and he had a much better college career than him ... it's a great value pick.

You can't ask for anything more than a hard working QB that basically is the winningest QB in the draft that fell to the latter half of the 3rd round to you. You could have taken him in the second, and instead get a S and a RB in the meantime, and still land him.
Great pick.
Now pick up Price or a WR here and I'm a happy camper for sure.

I'm OK with it I guess. I'd have felt better if we had taken him instead of the RB.... why did he drop so much? This QB class must be weak. BTW did Clausen go yet?
edit: to Carolina.... I'd have preferred Clausen.

Yep to the Panthers in round 2.
Dropping most likely cause of his size, spread, and alot of teams have other needs.
Go Browns!!

panthers took him in the 2nd.
i think the league learned a big from the 07 draft class. recognize if the qb class is weaker and don't reach like we did with quinn. betting that's why clausen was a 2nd rounder.

Not ecstatic, but I'm good with the pick. I really don't like him very much, but in a WCO he can be good, maybe.
I like the Hardesty pick a lot more than this one honestly.

Colt is probably better than Frye, especially in the short game and McCoy can make it worth with his legs.
However, I just don't like McCoy as a franchise QB. JMHO and my opinion only.
you had a good run Hank.

I would've preferred we took one of the receivers that have been going like crazy since our pick. Taking McCoy way back in the 3rd, as opposed to beginning of the 2nd like the experts said we would, is a HUGE win for us. Just wish we could've done more with that second round, but we'll wait and see on those. It's really hard to make the "if they can stay healthy" comment with guys that have injury histories like the safety and RB. They can play some football, it's just a matter of how long.

We all knew we were going to pick a QB, so with this pick it isn't so bad, and we won't have to rob a bank to sign him. He should be there for training camp instead of sitting home calling your agent. The more I think about it the happier I am becoming.

I remember Polomolu had concussion concerns coming out of college to the point where I believe the Steelers had to design a special helmet for him...so, you never know.

I think this is going to be the ongoing m.o. for this front office in regards to QBs. We'll take a later round guy and give him the chance to develop. Wouldn't shock me whatsoever if we take another one next year in later rounds no matter what happens with McCoy. Holmgren's history makes it pretty clear he will continue to bring in QBs to develop, in a low risk environment, and see who can develop into a player in this league.

no one called him a franchise qb. difference is savage liked frye, the same guy who picked quinn and wanted russell, and holmgren likes mccoy and compared the guy to montana.

Colt McCoy loves Eric Mangini.
First thing in the interview.

They've redeemed themselves a little bit with the pick of McCoy!
That's our clubs future franchise QB. A good selection there too! An absolute steal that far into the 3rd round.

I never heard anyone mention concussions. Is that true?
I think, if someone wants to knock this pick it'll be because of his arm-strength. I heard he has trouble driving the ball deep. I also heard his arm-strength is ok.
I think he'll be durable enough because he won't be running the ball like he was at Texas.

Ya know...I could have sworn I read it somewhere that he had concussion problems...but it's not mentioned anywhere.
I guess it's much more likely that I'm just an idiot who's remember the wrong stuff for the wrong people.
