I hate the multiplayer glitch or bug on PS3 where your guy, horse, or weapon will mysteriously disappear for an unspecified amount of time. I hope they fix this soon. I was riding an invisible horse, shooting invisible guns, and running around with an invisibility cloak on for a long time (all at separate times)!

you should email rockstar with the details just in case they don't know, that way they can release a patch.

Yeah, that happened to me a few times, hopefully they patch it, but it wasnt a huge deal, didnt last that long and didnt happen that often, for me anyways.
The game is a blast though, I played a little of the single player storyline, a little of the multiplayer games, but mostly played hours and hours of free roam.

I got home last night and amazon release date shipping had it sitting on my porch. Dinner, shoe shopping w the lady, grading papers and a shower later, it was 10:00 and I wasn't sure I wanted to get sucked into it so late at night with my 5:30 alarm calling me soon. So it looks like tonight I will get to open that special UPS box

I have the utmost respect for gamers that can leave a package unopened for longer than 30 minutes knowing what game is inside.
I've done it once (not opened a game for 24 hours after arrival) and it wasn't pretty.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

haha it's been on my mind all day at work. I've been on gametrailers.com, ign, gamespot, etc getting my fix until 5. it's better to make the lady happy than to play it with a sense of guilt tonight i will have that pure joy of playing it on my own time knowing she will be doing dinner and a pedi with her girlfriends.

Prepare for a long night, the game is fantastic. Ive logged a good 11-12 hours already and still when I turn it on, Im not sure where to start.
Hopefully I will have time to play tonight, I need to pick up the lasso skill!

The lasso is a great weapon. I was walking around in the town of Armadillo and decided to lasso a watch dog. I got on my horse and drug him around a bit. He attacked me afterwards, didn't turn out well for the mut:)

Been thinking about picking this game up, yet I am afraid its basically GTA in a different skin/background. How does this compare to other sandbox games?

it's definitely your prototypical sandbox, but just from the little i have played, it's more complex, and new ideas are being thrown in.
storlyline is typical gta though, which is good, because they usually have great stories.
i think the free roaming is going to be the best of any sandbox game ever.
i went out on my horse just wandering around, and i heard gunshots, jumped off my horse, and the thing took off on me, so i spent the next hour and a half, picking off various animals and seeing what i could find. some dude out in the middle of nowhere had a fire and bet me 11 bucks that i couldn't knock down 3 vultures in a set amount of time.
i love this game.

Ok so since Tuesday, something has come up every night! I got to play it last night for about 2 hours and all I can say is WOW. They make you believe you are in the old West. I agree with LeBron James, (the above poster), that my favorite things so far are just the random things. I was out on my horse, saw a guy getting shot at by 4 bad dudes, shot the 4 bad dudes, helped the 1 guy out, and got a treasure map out of it. I was just riding around and heard the gunshots. Very cool and very realistic. Love this game.

i think some may be turned off by the fact that this is a gta style without cars (other than horse carriage), and the map is huge.
but man you can freaking ZOOM on a horse.
this game has been so enjoyable, and i feel it has a fallout 3 type feel where you can beat it, and go back and play almost a completely different game all over again.

May have just sold me there, as Fallout 3 is a top 5 videogame of all time for me.

I think you could probably go back thru after you had beat it and be a different type of person (ala more aggressive or passive) and have a different type of gameplay.
coolest thing I've seen so far? i accidentally shot the store clerk and it said the store would be closed for 5 days. VERY realistic. not your typical game where he would just reappear

it's not as in depth as fallout 3, and you can loot in rdr, but not like you can in fallout 3, but you get what i'm saying, you can make different choices that change the way the game goes, therefore you can play one game as a hero and the other as a d-bag, or mix it up...

some people think it's a bit tedious to have to go and travel all the way across a map to complete various missions... and without cars, some may be turned off because of the vast distance you'll have to cover, but trust me, you can blast off on these horses.

My biggest issue with GTA was that is was a grind. Do one mission, you did them all. Couldnt wait for the game to end. Got very monotonous IMO. Driving around creating havoc was still fun though, but after playing GTA from the PS2 on up, I felt like I have played the game several times already.

you definitely see some gta with red dead redemption, but so far the only common things i have seen is that you have people on your map who you go to for jobs. they still have shops, although they have definitely added some different things.
i think the storyline is going to keep most people hooked though.

I've been playing this for a couple of days now. I think the coolest thing is the random stuff you run into when just out in the wilderness. I got robbed the other day because I went up on a lady asking for help, When I got there 4 guys jumped out to rob me.
Then onother lady came running up and asked for a ride. She then grabbed me off my horse and road off on it with some dude. Impossible to catch them on foot. I had to walk to Bonnie's ranch from there.

I have played all the GTA's and I feel like this game IMHO is only based off some of the GTA features...
The map and waypoints, storyline style, and vast map and places to explore are what makes it "GTA style". But the feel of the game itself is just an experience of its own because of how unique it is.

Just played for 4 hours strait, easily one of the best games i have played in years. the depth that this game has is almost too realistic.

Kind of wishing I owned a console because of this game, though I already have more PC games than I have time to give them. Sounds pretty awesome though, something I'll check out if the ps3 prices ever plummet

Nope. I figure they get until Wed or Thurs before I call. I think they said they would send it with 10 days of release date (or shipping of your game).

I finally got to play a bit last night and it was a blast. I love that you don't have to go from point A to point B immediately too 'win' the stage.

Im pretty sure it was 10 days from shipment, and thats business days. So if you got release day shipping, it could be until June 1st before you receive anything.

I got to play it for the first time last night.
I went straight to the free roam online.....I was getting killed every 5-15 seconds. Of course, I probably should have learned the controls before jumping online. And the three dudes in my area were ganging up on me. Oh well. I went to a different room and started busting heads.
Things I liked = almost everything Thing I didn't like = online jerks with their nasty mouths.
Look, I'm not surprised by cussing. Who cares. But it seems like every guy says, "Die you N-word GaySlur MexicanSlur CussWord!" Hey, maybe these aren't 12-year old kids.....but man, it's almost too much. I can't tell if they are really intolerant people or just talking like how everyone else does when playing an online game.
I'll be down playing with you guys or my own friends.....but I'm not playing with a bunch of randoms if I have to hear that crap ALL THE TIME.

Yeah, thats annoying. I havent had that problem yet with this game, just been lucky I would assume because I got that a lot in Modern Warfare 2. Luckily you can mute them in MW2, not sure if you can in RDR.
I havent been online too much since the first 2 days. I have been working on the story lately.

yeah dude, playing games online is a lot like reading the comments section of a youtube video. what i hate more than anything is when they leave their mic on for an entire session. they're singing, you can hear them on the phone, you can hear their mom yelling at them to go to bed it just gets annoying. i usually turn my music up and the tv down when i play mw2.

When I played Halo 2 all the time, I played without a mic on purpose. I could easily play without it (since nobody listened to directions anyway).
I might start playing the single player version tonight......or more World Cup (my Angolan team got beat in the field of 16 last night 1-0....man that pissed me off).

my xbox 360 gamertag is UncleSal10. i have found that most gamers on here have ps3's, however. I haven't been online yet but the thought of building a posse and taking on a gang hideout sounds fun!

Played a little online, it was pretty good. Did the gang shootout, not bad at all, just a little glitchy. I really liked the gunfight to start the round. I made it to a level 3, there were numerous players over level 30, need to practice more.
