Can the Cavs afford to keep Lebron while also diving into the Chris Bosh sweepstakes?
Yes and no. No, they cannot sign Bosh as an outright free-agent. If we keep Lebron, we'd still be well over the cap. HOWEVER, we do retain the Bird rights to Shaq (Now that I think about it, I think we lost the Bird rights to Z) ... what that means is we can work a sign and trade with Toronto if Bosh really wants to play here. Toronto signs Bosh for the max, and we trade over a couple of contracts/draft picks to make the trade work for the CBA. But that means ... not only would we have to convince Bosh to come here, we'd have to convince Toronto to go with a sign and trade and take on some contracts in the process.

the only thing they can do is a sign and trade. however our assets aren't as great as other places.
you could deal hickson plus another piece or pieces to equal bosh's max deal. however, several things would need to happen. it's not out of the realm of possiblilty but it's highly unlikely.

If he goes, I would expect us to play lottery ball for a year or 2 .... get some good young talent .... and then again star adding in the expensive pieces.
Only 6 more years till Jayshaun Agosto is available.

I guess Ferry and Gilbert will have a presser shortly. Around 230, I believe. Coach Brown isn't attending, so there is speculation, the cavs will announce that he has been fired.

CNN SI has announced Mike Brown has been fired by 2 league sources. I don't know how to post a link.

I don't know why you would be dancing around. I mean Mike Brown might not be a great coach, he might have his flaws, but he worked hard and he gave his best to the team and the city.. yea, I guess on one hand he road LeBrons coattails to some personal accomplishments.... and I think the team can improve with a better coach.. but to dance around? What did the guy ever do to you?

Sorry, but I don't care how hard he worked. I don't care how good of a guy he is. I want to WIN, and Mike Brown flat out is not a championship caliber coach. So I repeat...

it wasn't all on brown, but when your team plays like that, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion.
i wish the guy the best. he was nothing but class for the city and organization.
and if we keep lbj, we can only hope he's the the guy to take us from point a to point b, and this next guy can take us to the next level. similiar to doug collins with the bulls to phil jackson.

my other thing is.
if you knew lbj was leaving, would you fire mike brown, i mean financially, you're going to have to pay him and someone else. would that be wise when you could be looking at one of the biggest setbacks for a franchise in the history of sports? is it possible lbj has maybe said behind closed doors "get rid of this guy if you want me to stay"?
it just seems like the firing is awful quick.

If LeBron leaves, hopefully you can then change your name here to "DeWayne Wade"

That's a good point ... however, at this point, I wouldn't put it past Lebron to make a bunch of teams jump through hoops to see who is more "committed".

hahahaha
if lbj leaves and the cavs go back to irrelevancy (is that even a word?) i will put up a poll in the poll forum and the members can vote on the most irrelevant cav of all time as my new name. i'm so serious.
we can start jotting down candidates. larry hughes, sasha pavlovic, lucious harris...

If it has to do with John Calipari, it is 100% false. Otherwise, I don't know.

From a very reliable source connected with Kentucky.
Calipari has not even been contacted by an NBA team, and doesn't expect to be.
Even if he is, it's unlikely he's interested.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/basketball/nba/05/14/brown/index.html?eref=sihpNEW YORK -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired head coach Mike Brown, two league sources told SI.com. Brown, who won the NBA's Coach of the Year Award last year, compiled a 272-138 record in five seasons leading the Cavaliers. He also led the team to the playoffs in each of those seasons, including a Finals apperance in 2007. Cleveland's inability to return to the championship round in the last two years, especially after nabbing the league's best record in both seasons, drew criticism of Brown's ability to manage his team and winning rotations. A source also told SI.com that GM Danny Ferry will be retained by the team for the forseeable future. Meanwhile, the Associated Press is reporting that Mike Woodson has been let go by the Atlanta Hawks. Is this the big rumor you heard? It has been posted already.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Well, its one of those things...My company's CEO with the infamous "someone" on the inside who says this is true. Honestly, I did not read any posts before I posted that, so there is egg on my face for that. For that I am sorry.

If Brown's gone I'll say LBJ stays.
Gilbert has mostly likely asked him who he wants and what he wants.
Heck, LeBron ran the offense anyway!

A lot of irrelevancy there.

Mike Brown was supposed to be at the press conference, but he car problems. He rotated his tires last night, and ended up putting on an all-weather, a spare, a snow tire and a jelly donut.
