for some fighters it may be, but if you're well versed like evans, you could win in a variety of ways.

Strike early---whats the point in waiting......
What....
Give up the first round on the scorecards playing defense and scoring little.....
NO.......
You go with what you have EARLY....
Dictate teh pace early and force the other MAN to FIGHT his way back in.......
ITs an all or nothing game.........

Yeah no doubt, I took his keys when they got here.
The fight was pretty close to what I thought it would be. I figured Rashad to be in better shape and figured he would wear Rampage down and win a decision or catch him in a submission late in the fight, just because Rampage was gassed. Ifigured the only way Rampage wins is if he caught Evans with something. He had his chance in the third ,but how many shots did he just clean miss on Rashad when he had him down? AT least three or four that could have ended the fight for him.

With so many fights going to decision lately methinks Dana should add a minute to each round.
Dana can't do anything about it. The Athletic commision would have to make that change and to make it universal you would probably need Nevada, California and New Jersey to ok it.
Dana has been pushing for a while to allow 5 round "Non-Title" main event fights. Dana would of rather had Rashad vs Rampage be a 5 rounder. Not that it would have changed the outcome because Rampage wasn't prepared to go 3 rounds.

Rampage didn't have anything left in the tank, with Rashad pressing against him in round 1, 2 and the first half of 3 it zapped him of all his strength. I would of hoped for a better showing from a guy who claimed he had the best camp of his life.
Rashad came in prepared, executed a great plan and was prepared to go 5 rounds if nessesary.

I'm just tired of seeing things go to decisions that have no business going to decision.
The fighters are getting better. The upper echelon of fighters are outgrowing the 3X5 minute rounds.

I agree, I just got the feeling that Rampage was a lot of show,he talked good, and the little MR T mean mug thing was just a big show meant to intimidate. It was all just a front,Rashad was the one who really did the work. Rampage came into camp at 250 LBS,Ok yeah he lost the pounds but with him spending so much of his time working those pounds off he didnt have as much time to really get as much work in. Rashad was superior in every facet.

Thats fine but using last night as an example. Rashad would have been a fool to come in and try to stand toe to toe with Rampage exchanging blows. He was smart and patient and bided his time and took advantage of his opportunitys.
Or look at Russow, he was getting pounded by the other guy in the first two rounds,if he had stood there striking with him he would have been KOed. Instead he took his time and hung in there till the other guy wore out and made a mistake and he found a hole and took advantage of it.

I watched the main event last night and it was evident that Rashad knew the game plan from the start. He charged at Rampage early and kept him on the defensive for nearly the entire fight....
He trained for this and came after Jackson early....it wasn't even 10 seconds in and Evans had already landed a hammer and was leaning on Jackson..
Dancing around early is stoopid. In 3 rounds you really don't have time to try to "tire out" your opponent, and playing defense wastes valuable time while the more aggressive fighter is scoring points on the scorecards.
In a 12 boxing match it makes sense to play it slow. Its twelve rounds....you can make up for a slow start. Fatigue becomes more of a factor as well.
In the UFC it is pretty senseless to waste time being strategic. All strategy is for before the fight---once you are in the ring you need to execute early. You know your strengths and what the strengths of the other guy are. So come in confident and look to score early. While I am sure fear comes into play and that probably makes most fighters reluctant to come out fast.
But the way I see it. Come out strong early and look for the win in the first round. Know your game plan and attack immediately. The worst that could happen is you lose.

Yeah, and with that loss you might get cut or lose out on a title shot where you would make more $$. If you do get cut you might have to go fight for another organization where you will make less not only in your purse but also your sponsors if you can even get sponsors.
I've seen many fighters try and come out too agressive, get countered and KTFO.
Hell just check out Rashad vs Liddel. His plan was to let Chuck strike first. Since Chuck is a counter puncher he took that game plan away from Chuck. Well Chuck was being the aggresser in that fight, Rashad counterd and night night Chuck.
Being the aggressive fighter against a good counter puncher is not that smart of a game plan.

Really, so Rashad hadnt worn Rampage down? He didnt do it by attacking, he did it by countering everything Rampage did with quickness.
