link Sources: Raptors OK with Bosh to CavsEmail Print By Chris Broussard ESPN The Magazine Everything is set for Chris Bosh to join LeBron James in Cleveland. Everything, that is, except Bosh's approval. The Toronto Raptors have told the Cleveland Cavaliers they will do a sign-and-trade with them for Bosh, according to several league sources. The exact details of the potential trade have not been solidified, but Toronto likely would get Anderson Varejao and/or J.J. Hickson, Delonte West and perhaps Anthony Parker. A draft pick could be involved as well. Both James and Bosh are aware that such a trade is possible, and James has tried to recruit Bosh to the Cavaliers several times in the past few weeks, according to sources. But right now, Bosh remains cold to the idea of playing in Cleveland. The Cavaliers are hopeful that will change, because in Cleveland, Bosh can meet two of his top priorities: playing with James, and getting a six-year, $125 million contract. If Bosh joins a team without doing a sign-and-trade, he will be able to sign only a five-year deal worth $96 million. He is determined not to leave that $29 million on the table, according to sources. Although Bosh wants to play with James, he wants to do it in Chicago, Miami or New Jersey. Sources say he has told the Raptors those are the teams he would like to go to in a sign-and-trade. Bosh also could play with Dwyane Wade instead of James in those cities. Toronto, however, will not cooperate in a sign-and-trade with Miami, which has no players in whom the Raptors are interested, according to sources. To move Bosh to Chicago, the Raptors likely would ask for Joakim Noah, though they could perhaps be persuaded to take a package that does not include him. The Nets would seem to be able to put together an enticing package for the Raptors that included rookie lottery pick Derrick Favors. Chris Broussard covers the NBA for ESPN The Magazine. --------------------------------------------------------- take it for what it is. don't jump to too many conclusions. but it's nice to see cleveland actually mentioned in this for once. tom withers from the AP is shooting this down, not saying it can't happen, but the talks are premature.

thanks for posting that.
also, Colangelo was one of a couple GMs last year that said Eyenga was one of their 2nd round targets. he might be useful as a piece.

i will say this, if lebron convinces bosh to come to cleveland, which obviously means he's staying (and both will be here for the 6yr deal) then wow. things would make a lot of sense.
the fact that he dragged this out, that he was so quiet on the future. i think maybe he's trying to show bosh that cleveland can be the spotlight, because they have been for the last week and a half.
get it done.

Time to start making those Bosh signs, having parades, and making "Please come Chris Bosh" songs.

The thought of LeBron leading a break with Bosh on the wing and Noah under the basket alone is enough to send chills down my spine... (I'd love to have JJ on the other wing of that break but I fear he will have to be gone to get Bosh)..

Speaking of the Cleveland fanbase vs. others ... I saw a funny article about Wade yesterday. Apparently, the Heat sent out some sort of notification that Wade would be coming to the airport at a certain time, returning from his FA meetings. They wanted fans to show up to the airport to greet him, and show him that Miami was still behind him. One problem ... he flew commercial and they were expecting him to fly charter, so everyone end up going to the wrong gate ... no big worries though. Miami was only able to get about FIFTY fans to show up.

as for why Bosh might not have Cleveland as his #1 destination...here's my take on that:
From Bosh’s perspective, his marketability is much better as 2nd fiddle if he is in a bigger market because there are more scraps to grab. Which, teaming with Wade or LeBron is what he will have to go get (aside: unlike Gasol to Kobe because Gasol has the European market to go after).
So, while LeBron can command Nike/Coca Cola/et cetera from Cleveland, it would be harder for a ‘Robin’ to do it. He would need the titles first, which as we are well aware, are never guaranteed. So, it would be a leap of faith to come here, whereas NYC, Chicago, Houston (his home state though he's from Dallas) all would have immediate opportunities.
This is why our Chinese partnership is extremely important. If we can convince FA’s that we will be growing their profile in China (quickest expanding market), then we will likely have a better chance at convincing them.
Hope that helps.

that's definitely a good point, but these marketing opportunities aren't what they used to be, i believe some of the early deals lbj made when he was younger were more lucrative then versus now, because of the economy.
whereas, the cavs, because of the package they can offer, can get you your full max money. i would think that would be more valuable. not to mention that you'd be on a team with lbj, which gives you headlines immediately, and it's a team that will consistently be a 1-2 seed every year with a shot at a title.
if we keep lbj, and land bosh, the bulls and heat get screwed. the knicks are already screwed. the nets are screwed. the cavs would pretty much rule the east with a boston team that's on the verge of being put to the nursing home, and the magic who are pretty good.
he'd be jobbing the entire the eastern conference if that happened.
but again, i don't wanna jump the gun, because most of these reports that have come out over the last 2 months are garbage. so let's wait and see if this one has any legs.

Chad Ford and Chris Broussard are reporting this. They're always wrong so I wouldn't be bashing Bosh yet for not wanting to come to Cleveland as its probably not true. I wish Windy could get some confirmation. Quote:
Report: Cavs, LeBron Working On Recruiting Bosh Jul 06, 2010 11:00 AM EST The Cavaliers and LeBron James are reportedly working on recruiting Chris Bosh to Cleveland.
The Raptors are open to completing a sign-and-trade with the Cavaliers.
Chad Ford reports that Bosh and James want to play together, but while the former prefers it to be with the Bulls, Heat or Nets, the latter wants it to be in Cleveland.
Bosh's agent Henry Thomas has confirmed to Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times that Cleveland has been in touch with his client.

This is the only firm reports I have seen to the fact that Cavs have been in contact with Bosh.

windy responded soon after broussard tweeted the rumor, and he seemed to not have any knowledge of the situation. i have a feeling he's gonna tweet a few things later on to see what his own sources say. i know he said last night that it seems like the inner circle is now maybe just a few people, therefore, a lack of information to get.

Good overall, but I have a couple things to add:
You are missing a key element that Colangelo/Coach K have been stressing from the big men. Guys who can play above the rim and swat the ball and grab rebounds that other countries can't touch (International Rules do not have goaltending).
If Dwight isn't on the team, we need a Josh Smith or heck, even a Ty Thomas guy to come in and be a defensive stopper and rebounder to completely frazzle the opponents.
Also, don't be surprised if JJ Redick is the 'shooter' choice over Korver. And how they both played last year, I'm not sure I'd even disagree with it.
I remeber it was like christmas for Dwight since there was no goaltending. It's just crazy how nasty team USA was. The rest of the world never had a chance.
CP3 ( Best PG in the world ) Kobe ( Best SG in the world ) LBJ ( Best SF in the world ) Bosh ( A top 5 PF in the world ) Dwight ( Best C in the world )
Then you had guys like D-Wade, Derron Williams and Boozer coming off the freaking bench.

but, the rest of the world still did have a small chance because of some of the arcane rules they use in international play that allow for the game to be played like the 90's NBA with the grabbing and not allowing for offensive flow.
that I think is really the real reason we won the gold, that coach K turned the attention more to defense than offense (knowing that those guys could get enough offense no matter what they ran as long as we could get stops)

That's why I think having Dwight and LBJ were huge for us. Both of them are like freight trains and you would get lit up for even trying to foul them.

I think Bosh has a bigger ego than LeBron and D-Wade screw him. LeBron James may return to the Cavaliers, but Chris Bosh doesn’t want to go with him. The Raptors and Cavaliers have worked out a deal that would send Bosh to Cleveland, but the power forward is not interested in playing there, according to an ESPN.com report. The Cavaliers appear the favorite to bring back their favorite son, but James has been unable to convince Bosh to join him. The report states, “Both James and Bosh are aware that such a trade is possible, and James has tried to recruit Bosh to the Cavaliers several times in the past few weeks, according to sources. "But right now, Bosh remains cold to the idea of playing in Cleveland.” If James cannot convince Bosh, it’s uncertain how this would affect a potential return to the Cavaliers. The Knicks already have a big man in place with Amar’e Stoudemire, so that may help their cause with James. Stoudemire said he would do his best to try to recruit James to New York. Bosh is determined to work out a sign-and-trade with the Raptors, so he can earn the maximum amount of money. The Nets are still in play for Bosh, along with the Heat, Bulls and Rockets http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/more_spor...s&FEEDNAME=

Thats sounds a lot like interpetation based on twitter reports to me by the journalist. Also, the new york post was voted the least credible media source.
