What I saw on ESPN is that he'll be the first player to only play on opponents of a team. That is, he will play for whatever team is playing against the Cavs that given day.

At least that's what ESPN says.

As per the stories being reported ... I'm not sure why Bosh would NOT want to play in Cleveland. He's willing to take less and be a second banana in New York or Chicago or third banana in Miami ... but he doesn't want to earn max and be a second banana in a Championship situation in Cleveland? Doesn't make sense.

Maybe he REALLY has something against Lake Erie?

What does Chicago have to offer Toronto in a sign and trade? Seems like that's really his only option to get Lebron and himself to play in the same city with a decent team around him. Knicks can only sign one more ... Miami has to unload one more contract, and if they did ... they don't have anyone else. Everyone else can only sign one more guy.

Can Thursday get here already?

There are other options espn will go with
they will go with the What If segments (i.e. what if he went to chicago etc), or they will start the summer of lebron 2013/2016.

What does Chicago have to offer Toronto in a sign and trade?

trade exemptions, draft picks, a couple young players, and Toronto doesn't use up Bosh's cap space on players not as good as Bosh.

it's the fiscally responsible way of rebuilding and then you bottom out and get a superstar in the draft and climb back up.

but, Toronto is not fiscally responsible (see Jack, Calderon, Turkoglu, Amir Johnson), so I doubt this is the route they want to take. They'd probably rather take our deal (or Houston's) and remain a #6-#10 seed in the East.

But, if Bosh tells them deal with Chicago or you get nothing. They will likely deal with Chicago.

they may have to give up joakim noah, and i've heard they'd be hesitant about that (maybe if you couple other pieces with noah, it's too steep) and that has me scratching my head.

what i don't understand is, can't the cavs set up a meeting with bosh?

maybe show him around the cc courts, the arena. try and show him that they are top to bottom a great organization? i think gilbert could sway bosh if he has even the smallest interest in coming over.

i still think he's willing to do this, but is waiting to make sure nothing better comes along.

espn has put up more FA predictions, and everyone but chris sheridan has lbj staying at more than 50% chance. (he has knicks)

but it's coming out now that bosh doesn't want to play in cleveland. and i really wonder if he's bluffing, because it just seems to good to get your money, get to leave toronto, and get to play with lebron james in an organization that has shown they are commited to doing what it takes to win.

i still think he's sitting on it and waiting to see if miami can find a way to do something for him, outside chance at chicago.

when you weigh his options, cleveland is still near the top in terms of best situation. the only other situation i see better is if houston found a way to make it happen. it's his home state. there is the whole tax thing, and they have a gigantic viewership due to yao bringing chinese followers.

if i am the cavs, and lbj, i call the bluff.i start getting in "serious" talks with other teams about players involving pieces that toronto would want, which we already know is delonte, maybe andy, etc...

i can't see bosh turning away an opportunity to get his money and play with lbj just because it's in cleveland, i just can't buy it.

it's also too bad shaq made that ru paul comment about bosh a few years ago other wise he'd be a great guy to try and recruit bosh. he probably would have never considered the cavs back in the 90's even with our current situation. but i think he changed his tune when he came here. i honestly think he genuinely enjoyed his time in cleveland. he seemed pleasantly surprised at the city and the people and how he was welcomed.

I don't think Bosh has an issue with Cleveland at all. His twitter update indicated that he is not interested in coming to Cleveland to play the 5. "CB4 doesn't want to become CB5 in Cleveland." - Something to that tune.

I remember in April, Shaq said he wouldn't mind coming back for 2010-11. - Has anybody heard what his story is?

I think the Bosh story is total BS with zero cred. He said on mike and mike a week ago that he would play in Cleveland with LBJ and listening to that I believed him. However thats not a story that people want to read. They want the drama/going back and fourth frontrunners/lbj o meter BS.

i can understand him not wanting to play the 5, he's not a 5, and shouldn't be playing the position exclusively (other than going small in certain situations)

but if that's all that's holding us back allow gilbert/grant to work their magic. they can find a way to grab brendan heywood or bring back shaq, or find someoone who can hold down the fort.

i wonder if things would change if we grabbed heywood?

Dear Chris Bosh:

Now you are getting a peek at some of the ideas the Cavaliers discussed with LeBron James.

Starting with, "LeBron, you want to play with Chris Bosh? How about doing it at home?"

I'm not sure if the reports of James actively recruiting you are true. I do know that Toronto (your team) and the Cavs have had significant talks about a sign-and-trade deal that would bring you to Cleveland.

Yes, I've heard you don't want to play for the Cavs.

Chris, do you want $30 million more than any other team can pay you -- except if you stay in Toronto? Other teams may try for a sign-and-trade deal, but the Cavs are best equipped to make it happen.

So if you like the idea of that extra $30 million, you need to warm up to Cleveland in the wintertime.

Do you want to play with a two-time MVP in front of sellout crowds?

Then you want Cleveland.

Do you want to play on a team where you won't be the focal point of opposing defenses?

Then you want Cleveland.

Yes, Cleveland, even more than Chicago, New York or any of the other teams with salary cap room. That's because none of those teams -- not even Miami with Dwyane Wade -- has a star that demands so much defensive attention as James.

And Chris, do you want to win?

Think about it. It's James. It's you. It's an owner willing to outspend anyone in the NBA. It's Byron Scott, who has been to The Finals twice as a coach. Since 2000, the only other active coaches who can make that claim are Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, Larry Brown and Doc Rivers.

But in the end, it usually comes down to money.

You are 26 years old. Only once in the past five years have you appeared in more than 70 games (77 in 2008-09). You're not falling apart. You usually play 65 to 70 games. But you've had to carry a huge load in Toronto, and there are days when your body feels it.

There is relief in Cleveland.

And that extra $30 million at age 32, if you sign with Toronto.

Then the Raptors ship you to Cleveland for a package built around Anderson Varejao and some expiring contracts belonging to Jamario Moon, Delonte West or Anthony Parker. Both teams will be fighting over J.J. Hickson, so it's hard to know where he'll end up. While ESPN has reported the trade is in place, all waiting for your approval -- I'm not sure they are that far along.

But Chris, if you give the Cavs and James a signal that you are open to teaming up in Cleveland, the deal will get done.

You could end up on a team where Antawn Jamison comes off the bench. It could be a team with a front line of James, yourself, Jamison, Leon Powe and perhaps a center such as Brendan Haywood added in another deal.

Chris, think about your career. Seven years in the NBA, a grand total of 11 playoff games.

Never out of the first round. Think about Wade. Since he won that 2006 title with Shaquille O'Neal -- well, Miami has not made it out of the first round in the past four years.

You know how you averaged career highs in points (24.0) and rebounds (10.8) and missed the playoffs? Seven years in the NBA, and only one regular season with a winning record?

In the past five years, the Cavs have never lost in the first round, and made the NBA Finals once. Their average record is 54-28 in that span.

So Chris, it will be a whole new ballgame for you in Cleveland, and you will really like it if you give it a chance.

The only thing that confuses me here is that we are going to have to give up at least 3 prominent players for Bosh. - The names I'm hearing are Delonte, Andy, and Hickson.

Why I'm confused: If Lebron stays, it will be due in large part because he loves his current teammates. - A lot of the video presentation the Cavs put on for Lebron featured Andy, and Hickson.

I really can't see, or have read that BOTH Andy and JJ would be in a deal. We need one of the two no doubt. I'd rather keep Andy but would be very ok with JJ.

Put yourself in Toronto's position....are you going to make the deal without some sound talent in return??

I would say Andy and JJ are required.

Just saw this on ESPN news. And they also commented on Chris Bosh's stance that he would love to play with LBJ; just anywhere else EXCEPT for Cleveland. Supposedly, we have talked to him but he is dead-set against playing here.

What is that about. What is it with Chris Bosh that he wants to be a chess-piece in getting LBJ to leave here.

Just to make it nice and official:

Sources: LeBron decision Thursday

ESPN.com news services

LeBron James is planning to announce the team with which he will sign during a one-hour special on ESPN Thursday night, ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard has learned through independent sources.

ESPN would only confirm that active discussions for the special are ongoing. But sources tell Broussard that representatives for James contacted the network, proposing that James makes his announcement during a 9 p.m. ET special.

Those sources said that James' representatives requested they be allowed to sell sponsorship for the one-hour special, with the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and that ESPN agreed to the proposal but had not been told what James has decided.

The NBA's most prized free agent opened a Twitter account on Tuesday and posted his first message on the social networking site. While he provided no information about his future plans, at least he offered something as the NBA awaits the decision on where he'll play next.

"Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building," said the tweet on the kingjames feed, which by 9 p.m. ET had more than 167,000 followers.

James' publicist, Keith Estabrook, confirmed the superstar's entrance to Twitter, a place where fellow prized free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh often post details about their public lives off the floor.

James' plans still are a closely guarded secret. He visited with six teams -- the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls -- last week at his business offices in downtown Cleveland and may have made up his mind already. But until he gives word, other teams are positioning themselves to make a run at the 6-foot-8, 260-pound All-Star -- or Bosh or Wade, or maybe a combination.

There have been various reports that the Toronto Raptors were working on a sign-and-trade deal with Cleveland for Bosh, and that James is trying to convince him to join the Cavaliers.

Both James and Bosh are aware that such a trade is possible, and James has tried to recruit Bosh to the Cavaliers several times in the past few weeks, sources told Broussard.

But right now, Bosh remains cold to the idea of playing in Cleveland.

Like James, Wade and Bosh have remained noncommittal about where they'll sign.

The Cavaliers are hopeful that will change, because in Cleveland, Bosh can meet two of his top priorities: playing with James, and getting a six-year, $125 million contract.

If Bosh joins a team without doing a sign-and-trade, he will be able to sign only a five-year deal worth $96 million. He is determined not to leave that $29 million on the table, sources told Broussard.

Although Bosh wants to play with James, he wants to do it in Chicago, Miami or New Jersey. Sources told Broussard he has told the Raptors those are the teams he would like to go to in a sign-and-trade.

Unsure of James' decision, the Nets have a Plan B in case he rejects their offer.

The agent for Knicks forward David Lee says the Nets have talked to him several times since free agency began on Thursday.

An official within the league who is very close to the Nets' management team said the team would also consider going after Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer if James rejected the offer that was presented by new owner Mikhail Prokhorov and a team that included hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.

Nets president and general manager Rod Thorn said in a text message on Tuesday that there was nothing to report on the free agency front.

Asked about the Nets' options if The King nixes their overtures, Thorn wrote:

"We will look at other options if we don't get one of the top guys."

While James is the star attraction in this summer's stacked class of free agents, other players have either stayed home or found a new one. On Monday, Amare Stoudemire agreed to a five-year deal with the Knicks and said he would continue to recruit James to join him.

If he did go through all of this and then says that he's going somewhere else, I'll lose every bit of respect for him.

LBJ, Wade & Bosh to discuss final plans on Weds.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are expected to share a conference call on Wednesday to discuss free agency and try to move closer to finalizing their decisions, a league source with knowledge of the plan told Yahoo! Sports.

The three players are motivated to reach resolutions and make their choices public by Thursday, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. The stars and their agents with CAA continued on Tuesday to churn through numerous machinations and possibilities.

“Everything is still in play,” the source said.

James has the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets as his top three choices, sources said. Still, Cleveland has reemerged as the leader to keep James and Cavaliers officials are confident the two-time MVP will choose to re-sign with them.

Bosh and Wade are still considering playing together with Miami, Chicago and New Jersey, sources said. Wade hasn’t committed to re-signing in Miami and is still strongly considering the Bulls. He is intrigued with the talent that would surround him with the Bulls, as well as family considerations that would benefit from proximity to his ex-wife and children in Illinois.

Chicago and New Jersey need to make deals to eliminate more salary off their cap to accommodate two maximum contract players.

@PDcavsinsider made a good point - you'll know before hand what he's doing based on where the announcement takes place.

If it happens near cleveland - cavs
anywhere else - not cavs

If he goes to the knicks, he could rot in hell. I could see him going to chi-town to play with bosh, rose, and noah. but the knicks are garbage, even with amare. The cavs are better than the knicks currently.
