Greenwich is over an hour from Bristol.. if he's going to do that then why not just have it at Bristol where they have the cameras, the facilities, and the security already in place?

it's not like it was peter vecsey or knick fan who's had his fake lebron jersey for 4 years now talking, this guy seemed very level headed.

That is a ton of money to be throwing away to play in Miami on a mediocre team.

No kidding ... not to mention the Cavs have a roster in place, and Miami is going to be starting from scratch. He must REALLY love South Beach.

Which NY Knicks beat writer? Sports writers in NY have about as much cred as petey.
Ouch, low blow. You Cavs fans are so sensitive. So I don't know all the ins and outs of your team, I was just stating what I saw in the playoffs over the past couple years, and what I've seen of your team this season. Outside opinion, that's all. But very informing for me on the sad situation of the Cavalier team. But I do hope you guys keep Lebron
Otherwise, I hope he comes to NYC Baby!
But yeah, I dunno, Bristol's like 1.5 hours from Greenwich, so it's not THAT close. He'd be better off doing it in Bristol and then catching a flight out of Hartford if that was the case.......... (But yes, there is an airport near Greenwich, Westchester Airport, 20 min away which would be very convinient)
Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich - Good spot. I played on a badminton team there when i was in elementary school, lol. The Hawks. Competitive Badminton, haha. I will admit I did have a lot of fun

Nearest big airport to Bristol CT is Bradley and its quite a small airport, I lived 10 min from Bristol for almost a year and when I would fly out of Brad it was almost an hour drive, usually 90min+ with the hartford traffic enroute.
If theres an airport 20min to greenwich it makes sense because espn doesnt have to travel far to cover it and LBJ can easily get in and out. Wouldn't surprise me if espn is covering his fare too.

I agree that it's not LeBrons fault but I think this is a little over the top... I'm upset but Bosh never played here... ever. If I was a Raptors fan I might hate him... If LeBron leaves because of this my anger will still be directed at LeBron, not Bosh.

umm, have you considered:
umm...if Bosh and Wade have signed in Miami, leaving them $12mil cap room.
and Boozer has signed in Chicago, leaving them $14mil in cap room
and Amare has signed with NYK (starting at $20mil since he has a higher max number), leaving them $14mil in cap room
LeBron can't even get the non-Cav max from either without help from Gilbert/Grant
any talking head mentioned this? that he's stuck now if all this is true (unless he wants to be a Clip or a Net?). so he'd be losing even more $$$ to go?

No, lots of folks are still acting like LeBron to Chicago or Miami or their city of choice is a done deal, regardless of how highly improbable it is. A guy who does ESPN Radio down in Miami was on Rizzo's show today talking about how LeBron is coming to Miami on a three year deal to "learn how to win" from Pat Riley, and then he would go back to Cleveland after his contract with the Heat was up.

If Lebron should choose beautiful South Beach then my little ditty will not be a reach LBJ'll go the way of the great Tiger woods as he's busted delivering a beach bunny the goods He'll lose the house the kids and the wife twill be the demise of LeBrons good life. So alas young man stay in your beloved Cleveland and satisfy any urge, WHAM, with a right hand!

It's hard to find fault with a guy who is true to his priorities. Bosh's first priority is obviously where he lives, not playing with the best player or making the most money. It's hard to be mad at someone who is honest with himself.
Having said that, it was a pretty big slap in the face for the city of Cleveland.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Eh, all that will subside when Miami is no better off than they have been the past few seasons. Bosh isn't going to average the 24 ppg he did in Toronto because he's now the #2 scoring option. He might get 18 and 10 a night, which are slight improvements over what they got last year from Jermaine O'Neal (14 and 7) but hardly game-changing. Then they have Beasley and Chalmers and...that's it. They have to fill out the rest of their roster with scraps. That includes a center, because Bosh said he doesn't want to play the 5. Maybe they'll bring back Shaq...

Nice post ... although I'm curious where you got your NY numbers from. From what I heard, they still have room for one more max contract, while Chicago and Miami would now have to do something creative with trades to wiggle Lebron under the cap.

I didn't think that there were any teams that could outright sign three max deals, and the only ones that could sign two max deals were teams that already had Bird rights to one of them, but its very likely that I could be wrong about that. Knicks had a little over $34 million before Amar'e, so whatever his deal takes away from that.
If I'm Dan Gilbert, no way in hell do I do a s&t with LeBron. I understand the idea of getting something instead of nothing, but none of these teams have anything I'd want, unless Chicago is going to give us Derrick Rose.

well, we've all seen the 5year/$100mil from Woj. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-stoudemireknicks070510
some sites say starting at $19mil, some say $18mil. noone really knows since he can't sign his contract just yet.
Amare would have to start at $17.4mil to fit another $16.6 contract on their books (they had room for 2 max contracts if they were both starting at the LeBron/Wade/Bosh level, Amare is above that).
let's see if we can get to $100mil from $17.4 (I didn't do the math before based on the 8% max raise per year) http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q46
$17.4 $17.4 * 1.08 = 18.792 * 1.08 = 20.295 * 1.08 = 21.919 * 1.08 = 23.673
total = $102.078mil
So, I take back what I said about the Knicks. Math works out that Amare is starting around $17.4mil and they have enough for a $16.6 contract.

Right now its all speculation as they haven't even made the announcement whether Bosh is going there as a free agent or whether Miami and Toronto are going to work out a sign and trade. There is a video on espn.com that says if Wade/Bosh/LeBron all go there for the max deal, they have to trade Beasley which leaves them one other player under contract and less than a million to fill out the roster. I'm not a cap guy and I know LeBron/Wade/Bosh would be as great as Pierce/Allen/Garnett... but can that trio win with less than a million dollars worth of support? I don't think so.

It's "only natural,"...wow, but the truth, and it still stinks. It has pretty much boiled down to, the Cavs have no cap room, and there are no "supporting cast" all-stars to be had,.....
He's GONE.

I will admit one thing, I was totally wrong in that I thought LeBron was the biggest domino in the game and that he would fall first and then the world would sort itself out around him... turns out almost all of the other pieces have fallen and now LeBron can sit back and make a perfectly informed decision about where he wants to go and who he wants to play with... I guess I should have seen that coming.

Nor can they coexist averaging 18-20 points a night.
Zero depth on the bench.
No chance of 3-peat for MVP for James.
splitting the adoration of the fans 2 or 3 ways.
Sorry, that move aint gonna happen.

This is why my money is on Miami. Yes, he might have to take a big pay cut. Would the Union stop him ? I think NY is out of the question. There is nothing there, basketball-wise. Amare ? Maybe,...

oldmutt.. this is my thought as far as his "legacy" goes.. LeBron knows he needs championships if he ever wants anybody to take him seriously when mentioned with MJ.. heck when mentioned with Kobe... but is he going to get that winning a couple championships on a stacked team? Are people going to elevate his status in the greatest ever debate if he wins a couple championships with not one but TWO other superstars on his team? What has it done for KG's status? Not much.
MJ had very good people around him when he won championships but the only one that could even be in the discussion as being "great" is Pippen..
Kobe won with Shaq but people still questioned him until he won WITHOUT Shaq...
So how much will it help LeBron if... IF... he wins championships on a team with Wade and Bosh?

you can't really backload deals much in the NBA. see link above. 108% raise is the most you can get.
Bulls had about $30mil in cap room
that means Boozer starts at $13.4mil. need to get to $80 in 5 years.
13.4 13.4*1.08 = 14.47 *1.08 = 15.63 *1.08 = 16.88 *1.08 = 18.23
total = $78.6mil
dangit. i underestimated how much the 8% increase could affect these contracts. goodbye to my post.
(but, I still doubt Wade/Bosh give back major $$$ to appease LeBron to get him a max deal in Miami)
$84.47mil
