He's probably hoping we'd have a decent shot at CP3 when he becomes a FA. Other than that it's hard for me to think what would become of this team if lebron goes through with Miami.

Unrelated to you I'd have to say that ESPN leaking all this miami talk makes no sense. Chris Broussard has been all over the place this week with his sources and thoughts which barely makes me want to believe him. Why would ESPN leak the decision to screw up tonight and have no one watch?

espn doesn't really care, they aren't making money off it, remember it's all going to charity.

more importantly, why is lebron's camp leaking this out. they have been so tight about everything. every bit of info you have read on twitter, hoopsh ype, realgm, etc.. has all been bs. and now it appears that he's let us on? why? you're ruining the surprise?

is this is way of letting cleveland down easier?

i'm not watching this crap. thank god i have a game tonight. i'm sure my inbox for texts will be filled up when i get off the ice.

I would just like to thank the Refs for allowing us to be a little "looser" in posting what's being reporting by various sources throughout this whole thing ... granted tomorrow, we'll probably all have month long bans.

i've heard some making that case.

i think you can't quite go there.

it's bad, it's downright horrible. and if he goes on bspn tonight and embarasses his hometown, it will be downright classless.

but art modell picked up an entire franchise, kicked a fanbase in the balls, and took our team to baltimore. and they won a super bowl a few years after to boot.

i still think that is worse, but wow is this close. this makes the carlos boozer fiasco look like a charity case.

It puts serious pressure on Wade, Bosh and Kingy Boy to win and stay healthy that's for sure!

Not to mention fuel for every opponent to knock em off.

These guys are friends but man they'll have run ins and bad games (US v Spain?) at times. lots o pride to swallow!

I don't know ... I think it's worse. With Modell, he at least had somewhat of a reason. He was playing in a broken down stadium and the city refused to build a new one. He tried for years to get a new one built, and made several threats to do so. By the time he announced the Browns were moving, we sort of knew it was a possiblilty. He didn't sneak out the backdoor in the middle of the night like the old Colts owner ... and he didn't make an hour long press conference to drop the bomb on us. (... And give me a minute to take a long shower for "defending" Art)

With Lebron ... the roster has his fingerprints all over it. He's helped dictate a lot of the moves. The ownerships has bent over backwards to accomodate him and do what they can. So then fast forward to the playoffs ... he mailed in Game 5, had an iffy Game 6 against the Celtics. Doesn't say one word and keeps everyone guessing ... strings us along for 2 months, and eventually sets up an hour long reality show to possibly drop the bomb on us.

If he does leave ... he's picked the worst possible way to do it.

No way its worse than what Modell did.

The Cavs (the ORIGINAL Cavs) will be open for business next season. And the season after that. Etc . . . It won't go away entirely and then be replaced by one of the sorriest expansion franchises we'll ever see.

I remember back in 2002 they had these awesome commercials with an old guy talking to Chris Mihm, Ricky Davis, Darius Miles, and Z. The slogan was this is cleveland or something like that.

i don't know how to feel. i just know i won't be watching tonight.

i'm just so confused at how this information coincidentally gets leaked less than 24 hrs before lbj had a chance to really surprise everyone. before late last night with the miami stuff, you could really consider cleveland, new york, chicago, new jersey and miami and possibles. looking at it objectively, it would make for great tv. looking at it as a cleveland fan makes me sick.

but to let info out soon before? it just doesn't make sense.

and it's not like this got handed down on accident, where maverick or someone in the 2 or 3 in the know told someone when they shouldn't have, and it gets spread like wild fire. i believe this was put out for a reason. they have been so good about being tight lipped that i can't see any reason. i can't see lbj tipping off wade, bosh, or pat riley beforehand.

part of me wants to believe that these sources have nothing to go on other than lbj flew to miami to meet with riley (which means nothing, it could have been a last pitch offer, maybe it was lbj giving bosh one more chance to reconsider the cavs) and just took that and ran with it.

but the other part of me believes maybe lbj let this out on purpose to let cleveland fans down a little. had that info not gotten put out, i think most cavs fans go into tonight thinking he stays. now? it's like walking into a wake.

i'm not jumping off a bridge, i'm not swearing off cleveland sports, i'm read to move on. i'm ready for browns football, and i'm 100% on board with dan gilbert getting us back to where we were. i just wish he'd realize the best way to do it is to start from scratch. this isn't mlb where you have prospects. with the lottery system those guys that are good, they play right away and make an impact right away.

So im confused, what has led Chris B to say Miami? Why would Lebrons camp leak this info. He says most likely it will be Miami, but its not a done deal.

I repeat, its not a done deal. There still is hope, thats all we have.

Him going to Miami makes no sense... if he wants to be seen as winning a championship.. if he goes to Miami with Wade and Bosh, it lessens his championship by a load..

yeah. they'll talk about how it's the big 3, but people will always view the heat as wade's team, and how lebron piggybacked wade to a title.

and that is damaging to a guy. i can't believe he would go to a team and play second fiddle to wade, and make less, and if you think the $$ doesn't matter to those guys? it sure does. it's a status thing.

i'm so confused.

yeah, i think part of me still holds out hope that this is just lbj's camp putting this info out to drive up the intensity for tonight.

i'm not gonna put my eggs in one basket or anything, but if he goes on tv, after all of this, the last week, the last 2 months, and says he's staying? it would give the most unbelievable boost the city of cleveland, to northeast ohio. it would be one of the best feel-good stories we've had, maybe since we won the lottery to get lbj.

I will still be around with you guys, Cavaliers fan for life.

I remember the year we drafted Diop and FSN was showing Cavs summer league games, but I was in Toledo and for some reason they werent showing them in that area (said they were on the tv guide), I called and gave Time Warner an earfull, all to see the summer league of one of the worst teams in the NBA.

My interest in the Cavs is not dependent upon "The Decision".

It might have been leaked to the Heat to allow Miami to get any other available players as quickly as possible (sign and trades?) instead of having 7 stiffs playing with these guys. Someone in the organization then leaked.

was listening to a miami radio voice, he was saying miami fans all week were on pins and needles, hoping dwayne wouldnt leave. Then they found out dwayne was staying and the got CB, it was like winning the lottery.

If they get Lebron too, what does that make it, winning the lottery and,,, winning the lottery again in a matter of days?

Which is really insane for that terrible fan base. I WENT to a game in Miami this year (they were playing Bosh and the Raptors, oddly enough) and the arena was 30% full. Very pathetic showing for a fan base that doesn't really care anyway.

Cleveland has had their players leave town for bigger markets with bigger paydays....and now, Cleveland can be proud to lose out on Bosh and˜Lebron when they could have paid them more than anyone else. So...Cleveland gets screwed when it's about the money & when it's not too.

It's over. Either burn your Cavs gear or store it away to sell 20 years from now like fans of the Seattle Supersonics are doing.

Sad, sad day in Cleveland sports. And it's going to get worse.

I don't see how Gilbert can "rebuild". The precedent has been set. Our own "son" spurns us for less money....the franchise/city has NO STINKING CHANCE at bringing anyone in. Cleveland is the Siberia of NBA franchises now. Gilbert will move the team before building a winner.

South Florida ripped a title away from the Indians with a bunch of high-priced free agents and bandwagon fans.....now, the same thing happens. It's just a matter of time before the Dolphins screw the Browns over too.

Free-agent frenzy brings Heat season-ticket spike

BY ADAM H. BEASLEY
abeasley@MiamiHerald.com

The world will learn at 9 p.m. Thursday if LeBron James is coming to town.

But even if he doesn't, just the prospect of The King ruling South Beach made Heat seats the toughest ticket in Miami.

With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in the fold -- and the tantalizing possibility of James still to come -- demand for seats was so great for the 2010-2011 season that it crashed the team's website and jammed the phone lines Thursday.

Those trying to buy a season-ticket package through Heat.com Thursday afternoon were greeted with the message: ``To purchase your HEAT Season Tickets, please call 786-777-HOOP (4667).''

But many that dialed the number were greeted with an automated response. Those fortunate to get someone on the line learned that just a handful of tickets still remained -- at some $6,000 apiece.

While the season tickets are all but gone, the entire season is not quite a sellout. The organization is holding back some single-game tickets for the public, but those will surely go just as fast -- especially if James heads south.

The Heat declined to comment on the ticket situation Thursday, aside from confirming that a very limited amount of season tickets remained available, and that the organization was figuring out how to release the remaining seats.

The unprecedented crush began with Wednesday's news that Wade and Bosh agreed to join forces in South Florida, and reached a fever pitch with speculation that James would complete the All-Star trio.

For anyone remotely familiar with the apathetic nature of the South Florida sports fan, this level of fervor is foreign, to say the least.

It's been said more than once that Miami only gets excited for world-class events, and this has to qualify.

Last year, when the Heat went 47-35 and was quickly bounced by the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, the franchise ranked 15th and 16th in average attendance (17,730) and capacity (90.5 percent), respectively.

That certainly won't be a problem this year.

The demand is on par -- if not greater than -- the Heat's title year in 2005/2006, which saw 41 sellouts.

Seats have been snapped up by fans eager for a show -- and brokers looking to make a buck.

The ticket industry is like any other commodity. Scalpers buy prized tickets in bulk, thinking they'll be able so sell them for far more than face value. Sometimes it works. Other times it's an artificial bubble and they get stuck with undervalued merchandise.

Either way, the futures market has gone through the roof.

``It's going to be an unrealistic market,'' said broker Todd Rubin, whose primary business is buying game tickets from season package holders then selling them for a profit.

``The market's going to start out real high, but due to the fact there are just so many home games, it'll settle down.''

if lbj leaves, i'd love a cribbs mural. he represents everything good about cleveland. he's not one of us, but he's like one of us. he's one of the best stories in the nfl. he wasn't a first round pick, he wasn't any round pick. the guy busted his ass with no guarantee of anything to get where he is. it would be fitting to have him up on that wall.

I agree with this 100%. Gilbert may get the team to the playoffs, but the chances of us ever winning a title are slim to none. You win with superstars most of the time, with the pistons team of 05 being the only exception I could think of. There's no chance we will ever get another superstar unless we win the lottery, which is also not in our favor. Look how long the t-wolves, warriors, kings, and clippers have sucked, and they're in the lottery every year.

Everyone talks about the thunder, but they got very lucky durant was passed up by the blazers, not to mention there are no guarantees they win anything. they will have the same problem the cavs had of adding top free agents to go with durant.

The indians have a better shot at winning a world series. it's way easier to do it in baseball, than in the nba. If shipiro hit on last years trades, and continue to develop our own talent, we could win a world series in a few years. That's why I still watch baseball. With all of their flaws it's a better system for smaller market teams to win championships. in the nba the stars want to play in larger, and more exotic markets.

I think the ramifications of this whole offseason circus are going to be felt for years in the NBA and maybe not in a positive way. I understand that players for years have lobbied other players to come play on their team when they are free agents.. but never that I can remember in the history of sports has a group of free agents colluded together in such a way to put them all in the same place at the same time to stack one team... and this is the NBA where one or two guys can make a HUGE difference.. in the NFL it would take 12 guys making this commitment to the same team at the same time to have the same impact. Could you imagine what would happen in the NFL if 12 superstar free agents all made it public that they were discussing where to play and decided they all wanted to play together so they all went to the same team? The poop would hit the fan.

I can see a guy like Durant coming into the NBA, signing a 6 year deal, and having a great rookie year.. then if I'm the top pick the next year, I'll sign a 5 year deal so Durant and I can become free agents together and go stack some team somewhere.

I will admit that I'm a little bitter because I'm a Cavs fan and the cavs (it looks like) are going to end up getting the shaft in all of this but I don't believe this level of player collusion is going to be good in the future... and one of the reasons is that is going to give yet another advantage to the "sexier cities" like NY, LA, Miami.. places where these hot shot celebs would rather live any way.. Hell if I can make the max, play with my hand selected players, AND pick which hot market I want to live in.. well hell that's the trifecta.. why would any star stay in Cleveland or Detroit or Milwaukee?
