I also just had a few strange/disturbing/potentially funny thoughts .......

If the cap drops as expected ..... the Heat are going to be gathering up minimum salary players for the rest of the next 5 years.

There has been some talk about the Heat signing Z .... but could you imagine them dragging him up and down the floor in fast break mode? Really though, anyone else they try to sign is going to be less than an ideal fit. I do think it would be funny to hear about James grousing about his teammates allowing runs while he's on the bench as evidently happened while he was in Cleveland ......

Their best hope is that they hit with a 2nd rounder ..... but then I don't know if they'll then be able to re-sign that player? (What are the rules on re-signing a 2nd round pick if you're over the cap?)

Could you also imagine if the NBA and players agreed on a "hard cap" like the NFL has? No exceptions ..... no exemptions ..... play within a $60 million hard cap ..... and if you are over the cap, you have to move a salary to get back under. That could create an interesting dynamic within a 3 star team if suddenly, one of them had to go. This is the least likely to happen ...... but it would be funny.

In the back of my mind, I know that this teaming up of superstars is likely to be the greatest thing since sliced bread for Miami ....... but there are also a lot of things that could go really wrong. If something dod go really wrong .....I just hope that James is the one left on the court trying in vain to make it right. (Not that I'm vindictive or anything)

He looked visibly shocked for a second before regaining composure when they showed people burning his jerseys in the street. It looked like someone poured a bucket of ice water over him.

Some caller on WKNR had a pretty good take yesterday...said its kind of like when you're a kid hanging out with your friends and they want to go do something that you shouldn't be doing. You go along with it because they're your friends, but deep down inside you know what you're doing isn't the right thing.

The following is a quote from a fellow Dawg Talker. i won't name him since it wasn't posted on here. i hope he comes on and takes credit.

Quote:

Nick, they can't afford anyone else and they need to trade Chalmers and Beasley to boot. It will be Wade, LBJ, Bosh, and 10 3rd graders that will play for some chicken nuggets happy meals and blueberry slurpees.

My take on this is think about the best teams in the NBA. Orlando, Boston, LA Lakers. They all are much deeper and have much bigger frontcourts. How are the Heat gonna handle Dwight Howard? Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum? KG? Bosh may be highly skilled, but he is only 220 lbs.

This might be a fireworks show in the regular season, but when it comes down to grind it out wins in the playoffs, I see this team having a lot of trouble. Not to mention I think you are right that they could jump out to big leads, only to have the D-league second team give it right back.

Of course, this might be me hoping this out of the same vindictiveness.
