I have an idea for the huge lebron mural downtown, if this is truly Joe Taits last year, make it a huge poster thanking Joe for being a true Cleveland icon for many decades

I think that's a great idea.

I don't see it happening ...... since Nike rented that IIRC (and I have no idea what the leasing agreement is) ..... but I would love to see a gigantic "Thank You to a REAL Cleveland Sports Legend" with Tait's picture up there.

thanking tait would be awesome, and classy.

otherwise i propose that picture that's been going around the internet for the last few weeks.

a certain quarterback, getting tackled by a bunch of cleveland browns players, with a heading i am sure all of you know.

Best Idea I've heard in years.....City needs to step up & put Joe Tait up, put up a real Cleveland Legand...more importantly, a real Hero

I think that everyone should chant "Jester" every time he touches the ball.

I really love that idea.. I'd love to see it happen.. based on Ytowns comment about that space being leased to Nike,,

But,, Nike isn't stupid.. they know that they want to sell shoes in Ohio.. keeping that sign up there may not be a good idea given that anytime anyone sees it, they also see the Nike swoosh..

That can't be considered a good marketing plan.... Just a thought however..

The following is a quote from a fellow Dawg Talker. i won't name him since it wasn't posted on here. i hope he comes on and takes credit.

Quote:

Nick, they can't afford anyone else and they need to trade Chalmers and Beasley to boot. It will be Wade, LBJ, Bosh, and 10 3rd graders that will play for some chicken nuggets happy meals and blueberry slurpees

check out my BLOG illustration of Lebron and message me for a link. What Lebron has done, the joke salary cap in basketball, no salary cap in baseball no revenue sharing makes small market teams have little chance to compete. This is why the NFL is king because sharing revenue allows all teams a chance and creates real fan interest for that reason.
I am sure the NBA figured heavily in this deal as well, how else would three stars go to one franchise together and they somehow are under the cap, what a joke. It was about network money to which the NBA is a very distant third in sports. so Lebron being in a #30 TV market vs a top 8 market makes a HUGE difference to Advertisers.

I was telling people last night that this deal could go real bad for the NBA. Bosh was willing to join LeBron, but not in Cleveland. So the players got together and collectively decided to go to Miami. Now you can realistically start stripping teams from the NBA because they will not be able to compete with the drawing power of other areas. At some point Cleveland,Milwaukee,Charlotte,Minnesota,Memphis to name a few...would have no chance of drawing the top talent as the players decide to stack the deck in the hot markets.

For me, the whole problem with the NBA is that teams almost have to lose and lose badly in order to improve.

I think that sign and trade also does not help the original team.

The original team can offer a player more than any other team .... but the player can still pretty much force a sign and trade to whatever team he wants. I think that a player should either sign with his original team for the max, or sign elsewhere for what he can get there ..... but I think tha a player should have to play at least 1 year for the team he actually signed with. (If that makes any sense)

FWIW, Alonzo Mourning is quoted in an ESPN article today as saying that they knew this was happening "for a long time".

I think it was something they all were thinking about..

All three were drafted the same year, all signed rookie deals, all three signed again to get them to THIS MOMENT IN TIME. This was planned by them all along.

The only question may have been, which city would they go to. Pat Riley may have been the straw that stirs the drink....

Now, I wonder who wrote that??? As I posted on FB to you - with them signing for less that maX (14.6 from what I've heard), it gives them more (about 13m) to play with, plus and MLEs, etc.. that they might have. Then, how could guys like Fisher, Haslin, etc.. come in and expect to be paid max if these guys don't. Will be interesting to watch.

I have a request for some one who is good with Photoshop. I'd do it, but don't have the time, Photoshop, or the talent... Please, please, please make an image of LeBron stabbing the state of Ohio in the back with "we were all witnesses" text. Or something like that.

I heard people say that he looked shocked.

I dunno. As soon as he said "South Beach", I shut him off.

Didn't look hurt so much as just shocked. Fidgets around a bit. Like I posted earlier, kinda the look you'd have if you got doused with icewater or something. I really think he didn't believe there would be much backlash. Then again, this is the same guy that said he spoils lots of people with his play.

They didn't show his face when it was immediately mentioned, so we didn't get to see whatever the immediate reaction was, but I agree that based upon what I did get to see there, he didn't seem the slightest bit phased by it.

how do you not know the reaction would be like that?

these are the same fans that threw the biggest blankfit when the browns got moved. to the point of getting them back before the end of the decade.

same people who dumped a bag of monopoloy money on albert belle when he bolted just as the tribe was entering a great era.

same people who got betrayed by jim thome's words, only to have a strong response, despite having to wait 4 years to get their chance.

is he that ignorant?

Evidently so.

His grammar has also gotten worse already. I'm not kidding. He always spoke fairly well in interviews and such, but I heard a few "We gonna"s and such out of him the very few times I have heard him speak since he did his Springer routine to Cleveland.

That's it for a name though ........ "Lebron Springer"

Just clicking on you, LeBron (how's that name change coming? )

I don't know if Hoopsworld is allowed on this site or considered a rumor mill (my apologies if not), but apparently we are, in fact, going after Al Jefferson. I can provide a link if anyone's interested.

So I'm looking at SI, and looking at stuff on here. I'm very interested in the contract that ---hat is getting, how that affects their cap. I'm hearing Cleveland signed him to the max and then sign-and-traded him. I'm also hearing he took a huge paycut to make things work down there.

What's actually happening? I'm really hoping all three take max money and they can't sign anyone else.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I really think so...ignorant or oblivious, take your pick. I mean, the level of arrogance, hubris and self-indulgence is off the charts. He, Wade and Bosh have dubbed themselves "The Three Kings" and LeBron predicted that they'll win 7 championships together, calling this "The Road to History".

I don't get invested in individual athletes, as I root for the team, not the guys on the team, and as such I've maintained that I don't care if LeBron decided to sign with another team this offseason. The manner in which this has all unfolded, though, makes it pretty tough not to be attentive to it. The comparisons of this spectacle or debacle, depending on how you want to look at it, to professional wrestling are pretty valid if you ask me.

Well, over at the worldwide leader in spin, they're saying both Bosh and James are making $14.5 million this year, Wade $14 million. If I recall correctly, a max contract would have had them making in the neighborhood of $16.5 million in the first year, so it does appear they've taken a slight paycut.

Of course, this is all still according to "sources." If I never hear that word again it will be too soon.

and a fan of a virgin Gator? I would hardly suspect that is how LeBron rolls (given that he does have a couple kids out of wedlock...to his credit, he is taking care of them and still with the g/f, but still)
