Our understanding is that Tebow's camp was willing to take $11.25 million as the base salary because they expect he will become the starting quarterback and that number will become moot.
Now all Tebow has to do is prove Josh McDaniels right, and prove just about everyone else wrong.
pft
sounds like when Ricky Williams came out and took a major-incentive laden deal that he never saw half of...and he was a 'hit' as a draft pick (though he didn't live up to his full promise of being worth giving up an entire draft year of picks for NO)

Redskins reach deal with Trent Williams Posted by Michael David Smith on July 30, 2010 6:12 AM ET We noted Thursday night that the Redskins could reach an agreement first-round draft pick Trent Williams before sunrise Friday, and that's exactly what happened. Agent Vincent Taylor, who negotiated the contract along with Ben Dogra, told Jason Reid of the Washington Post that the deal is done and will be signed in time for Williams to practice today. "We just got the deal done in the last couple of hours," Taylor said early this morning. "There are just a couple of things we have to still work out, a few details to work out, but Trent plans to be there [at Redskins Park] to sign it and get going." As the fourth overall pick, Williams is the highest-drafted player to reach an agreement so far. He is expected to start at left tackle as a rookie. web page

At first blush, I thought it was 33 million.. turns out not to be the case.. looks more like a contract similar to Quinns when he came out. I'm good with that. seems fair for a late 1st round pick QB...
I think Tebow will surpass the expectations of his detractors.. The kid has a winners heart..

I think his release is too slow for the NFL. Saw a couple of clips on NFL Net recently of him doing throwing drills.... jeez he winds up like Fernando Valenzeula. We shall see though.

Peen, this contract (at the minimum) is exactly in line with the inflated salaries of the picks around him. The "big bucks" are HUGE bucks for his slot... even with the performance.

It's like you are responding to a post i tried to post but got a massage saying I wasn't allowed to post in this forum...and I was logged in...
At any rate, I think the deal is pretty much agreed on with the reports Haden was heading to Cleveland.
Sometimes it takes a while to iron everything out and then review the actually contract to make sure what was agreed upon made it in to the text of the actual contract.
I hope he is practicing this afternoon, but could see it taking another day to actually get everything in writing.

Anthony Davis signs w/ 49ers The San Francisco 49ers have signed their first- and third-round draft picks. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that San Francisco has signed first-round pick Anthony Davis and third-round pick Navorro Bowman. The 49ers moved up to the 11th overall pick to take Davis, a 6-foot-5, 323-pound offensive tackle from Rutgers. Bowman, a linebacker from Penn State, dropped on draft boards because of off-field issues but is a talented player who should be able to contribute to the defense as a rookie.

well, at least it appears you got the happy ending.
Going strictly off of averaging the values around him: $45 million total, $26 million guaranteed should do it. My guess at this point is that he won't sign until later today at the earliest, tomorrow morning at the latest..... I'm just figuring that he won't want to practice today, and will still have to do the physical/conditioning test stuff before practicing.
Heck, I would be surprised as hell if Heckert, Matt Thomas (our contract guy from Miami) and Haden's agent weren't doing an extended business lunch right now.

Eric Berry's signed . . . http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/30/another-top-five-pick-signs/Another top-five pick signs Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2010 1:30 PM ET The first-round picks are falling quickly now. A league source has confirmed to us that safety Eric Berry has agreed to terms with the Chiefs. Three of the top ten picks are now under contract, and two of the top five. Berry was the fifth overall selection in the 2010 draft. Also under contract in the top ten are Redskins tackle Trent Williams (No. 4) and Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain (No. 8). Berry's deal establishes a ceiling for the Seahawks and tackle Russell Okung at No. 6. The floor for Browns cornerback Joe Haden has been set by McClain's deal. That said, Haden's deal still could be problematic since he's working off the above-slot deal given last year by the Raiders to receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Steelers sign Pouncey The Steelers have struggled on the offensive line of late, and they addressed their deficiencies by devoting their first-round pick to center Maurkice Pouncey. Per a league source, Pouncey has agreed to terms, and he is on the way to camp. Pouncey was the 18th pick in the draft. His contract became easy to finalize given that the player taken in front of him (49ers guard Mike Iupati) and directly behind him (Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon) recently inked their rookie deals. Financial terms aren't yet available, but it's safe to say Pouncey got much more than $100,000.

Looks like $50 million with $28 guaranteed will be close. That is just nuts. I'm very happy for him.

Detroit traded up to the bottom of round one with the division-rival Vikings to get Best with the 30th overall selection in the draft. 1. Sam Bradford QB St. Louis Unsigned 2. That is some serious coinage.
I have to think that Haden isn't too far behind. He's got to be pretty bracketed in by now.

Bucs sign #3 pick Gerald McCoy Gerald McCoy, No. 3 overall pick of the 2010 draft, has officially agreed to terms. Oh, and the Bucs also signed their left tackle Donald Penn to a six-year deal this morning. Who says the Glazers are cheap? Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times says Penn will get a little more than $7 million annually on a six-year contract. The guaranteed money and structure remains uncertain. Penn was on the field for Bucs practice Saturday morning, where he will be joined by McCoy in the afternoon. We're waiting to hear the numbers on McCoy's five-year deal. The Bucs theoretically shelled out well over $100 million this morning. In theory, this should make it much easier for Lions defensive tackle Ndamuhong Suh to come to terms in Detroit. The rest of the top-five overall picks have signed. 1. Sam Bradford QB St. Louis Agrees - six-year, $78 million 50 million Guaranteed 2. Ndamukong Suh DT Detroit Unsigned 3. Cardinals sign Dan Williams The Cardinals' first-round draft pick is in the fold. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Arizona has officially reached an agreement with defensive tackle Dan Williams on a five-year deal. The Cardinals reported to training camp Friday, and Williams has missed two practices so far, but he flew to Arizona and is expected to sign his contract and join the team today. A 327-pounder from Tennessee, Williams was a three-year starter in college and is expected to start as a rookie in Arizona.
