I'l save you the suspense ... he's not starter material. As much as I believe the whole Quinn thing really had an effect on him mentally, there was just too much bad that can't be explained by it. And when your coach who just names you the starter comes out and says his undrafted rookie FA QB was his best QB on his roster thus far this season, that's hardly confidence inspiring ... for DA or for the fans.

He will have his moments - some that may have a few Browns fans wishing he were still here. But they will be fleeting, IMO.

Ya missed my point there Rish.. which was, if he can't make it work in Arizona with all thier weapons, then he's not a starter.. Period.. nothing really more to it for me..

I don't think he missed your point. He's simply saying you don't have to wonder whether DA is starter material.

He isn't.

Strangely, I actually feel sorry for the Cards fans. They're gonna go through this year what we did the last two. See ya at the top of the Draft, guys......

Leinart supposedly just signed with the Texans. Just on ESPN.

Welcome to permanent backup land Matt ......

No worries about being a backup till the day you uncerimoniously exit the league .... it almost always happens with 1st round QBs who bust with their original team.

And if he succeeds in Arizona for more than 1 season, will you still say he's not a starter?

Honestly, what does this say about Leinart and his own confidence? To sign with a team where it's very clear you're the backup? Not a Leinart fan but this bugs me. It's like finally conceding you're just not that good.

This makes me think of something that Quinn said one time that really, really bothered me. I think it was before last regular season started and he couldn't clearly beat out DA for the job. At the same time, AJ Hawk had been struggling at GB. He said he and his brother-in-law discussed football and basically came to conclusion that it wasn't the be all end all of everything. It struck me as odd that a young 20-something who was put in a competitive environment to win a job would say. It really was in a lot of ways a foreboding of sorts. It bugged the crap out of me then, and it still does. I hate to hear athletes concede defeat.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

agreed!

Anderson did well when he had a running game, WR, and protection.

If you look at the 2008 season you will see our running game died, and our OL did not protect him at all hence why he faltered...

In 2007 Jamal Lewis had a big year running the ball, and our Wr catch, and our OL protected anderson....in 2008 the opposite happened..

I am not one to blame everything on DA, or anyone else...but a lot went wrong in 2008 that was out of Da hands...

if Da is going to prove he is a starter..this is the year for him to do it.

Define succeed.

If the definition is that he starts most of the games but the team spirals into the crapper, which is what I think will happen, then I suppose YOU could call him the starter.

I'll just call him DA. Around here that's pretty much all the definition you'll need.

No, Anderson did well when nobody took him seriously and didn't game plan to take away his strengths.
He also had his three primary targets continuously bail him out on every pass attempt.

The rest is just the minimum requirements for Anderson to function.

Just to put a final note. DA has plenty of game film on him now...

Games like NY Giants where they played man all game and got burnt.

And

Games like the Ravens where they played Cover 4, took away the skinny post and just dared DA to try and march the team down with short passes. What happens then??? Lawn darts and pick 6 aplenty.

Any serious defensive coach worth his salt will simply pick up the book on how to stop DA, feed it to his team, and we'll all watch whatever rookie is backing him up as the unquestioned starter by Week 10.

His name is Max Hall, and he already has Anderson on the Hot Seat. Whisenhunt has already made public comments how Hall was the best QB they had in camp.

Leave it to FLDawg for a reasoned intelligent post. Quinn is still struggling the book is not yet closed on his career. And While Anderson has an opportunity it is still at best even money he makes anything of it.

Really?

Even when the Head Coach can't decide on who's the #2 between you and a rookie who is a longterm project in the league?

I don't know what Josh McDaniels was thinking when he traded fro Quinn, but I thank him for Hillis.

he only said that because of the "we traded quinn for a ham sandwich" tirade earlier in the offseason. that ham sandwich looks pretty good right now.

The Pig is a *magical* animal. It gives us pork chops, and bacon and ham... and Peyton Hillis!

I liked Max Hall as a prospect for this year. When you look through his career, he shows up well against top competition. Polar opposite of BQ who piled up gross numbers against low-mid level teams and choked in big games.

Use whatever measureing stick you want to... decide what is success and then tell me that if he hits those marks, he's not a success.....

Look, I expect DA to fall flat on his face.. I don't expect him to be successful in Arizona.

But overall, that is a better team than he played with in Cleveland in 07.. so if he's for real, it will come out.. if not, he'll flop there also.

Anything is possible,, but really. Looking at what Quinn has done in 4 years, it doesn't look like it's going to happen for him..
