Our best DL is out with an injury

WHAT!!?? Rubin got hurt?..... We all know what SR can bring to the table when healthy, but really, how well is he going to take to the DE position? The chances of him making it through a 16 game season is probably rare and now we're going to have him play a more athletic pos.

I don't even consider him a core player on this team anymore, just a bonus...(when heathy).

Which better suits him and his talents.

I agree, but how much gas do you think he's got left in the tank? He couldn't get 3 consecutive plays together last year before sucking an O2 bottle dry.

I'm a big SR fan but he goes through more oxygen than gatorade.

I'd say he has plenty in the tank until he shows otherwise... and I don't think that he's shown any signs at all of slowing down.
We regularly rotate all our DLine, so he's always going to be heading to the sideline, and when there he's going to hydrate and oxygenate.... it's just giving your body what it needs to be ready to go right back in and still go full bore at a high level. If you put more oxygen in, you move more lactic acid out and keeping the muscles firing hard.

An added benefit of moving to DE is that he won't face many triple-teams like he's been getting since getting here... and that in turn will help preserve his energy levels.

When I think of the havoc he brings when double and triple teamed, I get pretty excited how much he can bring if singled up. I'm trying to think of a Olinmen that could stop him time after time and I can't think of one..

It could make for some interesting sack stats!

He's definitely going to get to cause some havoc, but a consequence is that until we show that we're ready for it, it's going to mean a healthy dose of plays run right at him to try to break one if he gets out of position.... kinda a trap play.

Come the Steelers games.... I'll take Shaun Rogers going against Flozell Adams all day long. Shaun is gonna make him consider retirement, lol.

I'll predict if Rogers lines up across from Adams. Adams will have 5 false starts.

If I lined up opposite Adams there would be 5 false starts.

If a chair lined up against Adams there'd be 4.

I totally agree with your post as both guys while High of character are slow as dirt. if ever three guys should have been on the bubble it is those two and veikune instead we cut Bmac and are seriously thin at DB and OL. Go figure.

How do you figure we are "seriously short" at OL?

We typically keep 8 OL, with 7 active on gameday. We kept 8. There's no shortage there.

We kept 8 DBs. We usually kept between 9-10 ..... so we might be short 1 or 2. I'm not going to shed any more tears over McDonald than I did over Quinn.

Besides, I bet we can get back 2 or 3 of the DBs we cut if we really want them. Asante and Chancellor stand a really good chance at being Practice Squad types.

I don't understand the LB situation ..... but I doubt that we are done making moves.

Short on OL with SPEED. I did not finish my thought. Bowens is TERRIBLE at OL, way too slow...GoCong is slow, Trusnik gives nice effort but slow as well. I was never a great fan of Wimbley yet he looks like the Flash compared to those guys. In case you missed the preseason, running around the edge was pretty easy for teams gashing BIG Yardage.
I see we picked up Chancellor and assante for practice squad yet I have no idea why we would dump BMac who had a really solid preseason and camp. Mangina just does not like the guy. Maybe the ravens pick him up.
