I don't care where they play, these guys are solid.
I like Boise's possibly my favorite of the 10.

Boise's not really handling VA Tech. Its got a lot more to do with VA Tech shooting themselves in the foot time after time after time. Fumble inside the 30, blown coverage leading to a blocked punt inside the 10, 20 yards of penalties after forcing a punt, PI in the endzone, and no protection for Taylor on offense.
For the record, I think that second TD should've been ruled incomplete. Dude's shoulders were on the sideline before he cradled the ball against his body.

Boise looks like a very good team. Good mix between the run and pass, and a good D.
I will be watching them along with Stanford this year...

BSU has looked good but Tech has KILLED itself with stupid plays, particularly on special teams... they basically gave them 10 points with bad special teams play.
Should be a good second half! I am just happy Tech woke up!

All 17, really, if you consider that it was the "running into the punter" penalty plus the dead ball foul that kept them alive on the second touchdown drive.
I hope VA Tech can get another stop here and then put 7 on the board pretty quick in the 3rd. I'm pulling for them just because I don't want to have to listen to "but Boise went undefeated" talk all season long.

My grandparents spent their entire lives 15 miles from Blacksberg... I'm a big Tech fan so I'm cheering hard for them...
of course I would find it funny if Boise beat them but then lost to some tiny school down the road....

IMO the officials just ruined a great game. Picking up the block in the back? Terrible. That late hit call was also awful. It was late but there is no way a whistle was heard.

Hmm...you're all starting to see why I hate big 10 officials  The block in the back was close, the late hit was close...but the VT DBs were more or less riding the Boise WRs all game long and came out with 0 interference calls.

The late hit call was disgusting, considering he hit the guy as the whistle blew. Ugh. It's not the player's fault the official blew the whistle wayyyy late.
Oh well. Boise still will not go to the championship game regardless of whether or not they run the table.

I watched on ESPN 3D and they have different announcers. Not a lot of fawning, thank God

I didn't realize that the Detroit/Cleveland game was on CBS in Columbus AND the NFL Network...so I watched on the NFL Network. I had to tolerate these Detroit announcers for 3 quarters before I finally changed...it was miserable.

I agree, had VT not self destructed in the 1Q, this game wouldn't have been close.
I'm not that impressed by BSU. VTs young defense was holding them pretty well until that last drive.

A lot of VT mistakes.. Tyrod is a great athlete and a pretty decent QB but he is not the guy you want trying to go 60 yards in a minute.... In his 4 plays with plenty of time and two time outs he throws two passes 40 yards, totally unnecessary, bounces one to an open receiver (may be that the rec. should have cut off the route) then he takes a sack.. He takes way too many sacks and when the team has to throw, he's not that effective because you drop a ton and dare him to run.. And yes, Brents lovefest with Boise was obnoxious..

1 fumbled snap, other than that va was beat in the 1st.
7 of 10 va tech's last points came off a running into the kicker penalty towards the end of the 3rd quarter. Its not like boise wasn't making plays on defense

I thought that cost VT more than any Ref calls. Both teams took a number of bad calls late. I remember a BSU DT getting dragged from behind as he chased down the QB on a critical down ... for a no-call. And a fairly weak Roughing the QB call, where the guy's momentum carried him into Tyrod, and he just sort of fell over. The PI at the end wasn't there ... he turned his head as the ball got there and the WR pushed off just as much as the defender pushed off. Certainly no worse the the VT DBs going through the WRs to knock down balls as they got their. I thought they called all of that pretty consistant.
What killed them was Tyrod trying to be the hero. Two long bombs, when all they needed was maybe 30 yards in 50 seconds for a field goal attempt. (and probably a 3rd attempted bomb when he got sacked). All they needed was a little game management, and they would of been right back into it.

Furthermore, just because you make a bad call once, doesn't mean you should make it again to even things out. What it came down to was 58 minutes of the players dictating the outcome of the game followed by 2 minutes of the officials doing so.
But personally, I don't really care. I had nothing invested in this game, and was only rooting for the Hokies because I don't want to have to listen to talk for the next four months about how Boise State deserves to play for the national championship.

That wasn't my point ... my point was that both teams had bad calls, and both had a chance to win the game. Only BSU came through when it mattered.

Maybe, maybe not. Any combination of any five of the six BCS conference champs having a loss (or more) would monkey wrench that hypothesis around pretty good. All depends on how the computers and polls look.
The year LSU won, everybody in the country had 2 losses except Ohio State.
Boise State can get in,...saying it absolutley won't happen ? Wouldn't bet the mortgage on it.

yeah, i didn't like the unsportsmanlike call at the end there, i thought the defender legitimately thought the guy was still going, no bad intent or anything.
but it definitely didn't determine the outcome, the broncos managed the clock wonderfully.
anytime you have a good coach on the other side of the field, you gotta be smarter about the clock, frank beamer forgot that last night.
as far as them being in the chip, they just need to win out which they really should (maybe oregon st gets em) and hope for losses from 3 of the 4 (bama, ohio st, texas, and florida)
i think all 4 could legitimately lose 1 game, leaving the biggest whinefest you'll ever see
1 loss bama, 1 loss ohio st, undefeated boise, and maybe a one loss oklahoma/texas, plus others.
it's the best case for an argument for getting a playoff system.
you can argue all day about whether or not undefeated boise should get in above a 1-loss team from a major conference like the sec or big ten, i can see both sides of it, but it's the best thing that could happen to college football.
i don't want some ridiculous 16 team playoff like some want, just something that allows more than 2 teams to have a post-season.
