This morning I get an email from the girl thats my personal season ticket representative.. It really looks like they are trying to sell some tickets and have some problems doing that. I'm a bit curious about this especially since they couldnt honor my relocation request.

I cut out some personal stuff but here it is..

The NFL just started their own ticket exchange where people can sell their tickets safely and securely through the NFL as well, so this could very well tie in with that.

Meh, the Bears have done this from time to time too. When they're bad, tickets don't sell very fast.

The Browns haven't been good for a while and the fans are starting to think before buying available tickets (remember, there were quite a few sellout concerns last season). They know you're already a buyer, so you might be willing to get more to bring friends/family along to partake in your misery/enjoyment ( ).

Isn't it right that Jacksonville hasn't had a sellout in a while?

Wouldn't suprise me if they were having a problem., Given the price of tickets, the level of unemployment in the area, the number of companies struggling and not to mention a fairly lousy product on the field,,, it begins to add up..

If they start winning, the other things will not matter nearly as much and the place will fill up quickly

What's a little surprising is that I thought ticket sales would have gotten a bump with the hiring of Holmgren. And if we did get a bump from the addition of Holmgren, then what would it have been like without him....

hiring Holmgren
LeBron leaving
the Indians season

Really, a perfect storm for the Browns ticket sales department. If we can manage to win the first 2 games against TB and KC, then I think we'll sellout fairly quickly.

The $300 / year just to go warm your feet in the re-Privatized Legends Club doesn't help either.

All of the NFL is dealing with fans wanting to watch the game at home on the big HDtv. During the Family Day event I did a quick count of seats with white paper taped to em, I guess around 500 or more all in the uppers, look like a whole row near the top of the pound.

Until there's a competitive product put on the field, I'm not interested in getting up early on Sunday, heading down to watch a bad team play in wind, cold, snow, flurries, rain, etc.

Maybe as I get older the desire to 'be there' has lessened but I also think it's correlated to the performance of the team. I just don't feel like dropping a few hundred bucks to leave disappointed and a good chance of sitting in bad weather.

I must have received 30 calls from the Giants so far this year. I bough a pair of tickets for the Giants/Browns game about 5 years ago through the team website. I usually get a little mailer every year, but this is the first time they have called, and they are very desperate.

I think the whole PSL thing is going to come under some scrutiny league wide. I have never thought it was fair, and it's really being pushed with the Jett's/Giant's new stadium. They are even trying to argue that if you own a PSL, you are entitled to that seat for anything in that venue. I don't know if that will go anywhere, but that would have huge ramifications.

Yeah how do they pull that off where you have Jets and Giants fans that own the same seat?

That is exactly one of the questions.

The teams are saying the PSL are for specific dates/events, but some groups are claiming that the license needs to be purchased for any ticket in any venue. Some are trying to say that if you own a license for a specific seat, you should be entitled to the seat on any given day. Lots of unhappy fans. It's on the radio and news 24/7 here. The Giants are concerned about not selling out a single game this year and even TV/Cable deals are in turmoil (not only because of this).

It would be nice if they just dropped the whole thing, I have hated it since they started it. If they want more money, just raise ticket prices. Having to buy a license just to have the ability to buy season tix is a big scam.

Teams started pushing PSL's when times were a whole bunch bettter than they are now.. they may, at some point, have to stop charging for them..

I think people are saying enough is enough....

Quick question...

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/050044...mp;minorcatid=8

On the Browns ticketmaster page, there is a "promotions and special offers" tab that is apparently available. Is anyone aware of any passwords or codes that could allow for more diverse availability of tickets than what is found in the regular selection tab right now? Trying to find tickets for the 19th & against the Falcons, so any help is appreciated.

Single game tickets for the Chiefs game are sold out. You'd have to buy season tickets or a tripps pack (three games).

That's a big Bingo there,...our little neighborhood Browns club meets at one of two homes every Sunday,...one's a 92 and the other a 75 inch screen. The younger guys are talking about a road trip to CBS,...outside of the camaraderie, I'm like - what for ?

Either I read that wrong or you might be confused... I've sold through the NFL ticket system and the fees weren't too bad, about $8 -$12 per ticket in fees depending on the price. (unless there's been a radical change this year).

I can't believe the PSL concept ever took off. That has got to be the biggest ripoff ever devised to gouge money from sports fans. Just what does it get you....the right to be able to pay for your seats? LMFAO! You were able to keep the same seats prior to PSL, so the "same seat guarantee" is BS. I refuse to be suckered in to that scam. Now, if it in fact would let you have first dibs on those seats for all events, I could maybe see paying a fee....but that should be an option and not a forced expense.

I think we're seeing the beginning of fans saying "enough is enough".

I bought two tickets to the Browns-Saints game this season, and I was charged $50 per ticket in fees above and beyond the cost of the tickets. There is no confusion.

The last time I bought from ticketmaster I believe the "convenience charge" was around 10 bucks per ticket. It's been awhile since I did that, so I can't speak for how it is now.

That is the one benefit of being a season ticket holder, we aren't subject to these fees. They just get them another way, by forcing us to by two lousy preseason games.

That game is in New Orleans so what you paid was a $12 NFL convenience charge and then a $38 local tax to aid Katrina victims and to help make New Orleans a chocolate city.

I gave up on ebay & just bought two seats in 511 off of ticketmaster for the opener..

I believe Ticketmaster, as they do for Maple Leafs games in Toronto, randomly disburses tickets. Therefore, buying tickets early doesn't guarantee the best seats available for a given game. I just got 2 first row seats for the Falcons game in the $65 upper bowl price point. I am assuming they weren't on there that long and I have not seen them up there before today. Anyone else had this experience? Can't wait for this game now.

Looks like a bunch of blacked out games in Cleveland this year unless people start doing their part and go to a game or two.

I can't believe any fan wouldn't at least attend 1-2 football games a year....for baseball....at least 4-5.

You want to watch the local team on TV....you need to chip in to make sure they remain the local team.

That sounds about right. I have a couple of games I may list...Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas weekend...and have read the info pretty carefully, and $50 added to the buyer was no where in sight.

By the way, unashamed plug, if anybody wants the seats, I'll cut you a deal.

Not to pile on,...but,...not often, but occasionally you'll have a sellout and it still ain't on in Columbus. We're a what I call a niche market, having to fight Bengalitis.

It's a long drive and I like to enjoy myself. It's just easier.

And I have been to at least one a year for the past three,...and I don't really care for the new stadium either. It could have been a dome.

I for one am very glad it's not a dome. Still I don't like going to the stadium much anymore as it's too lame. My local Brownsbackers club at a local bar is MUCH rowdier, and you can cuss as much as you want. Plus beers don't cost an arm and a leg.

I don't think a dome would make that much difference to my opinion on the matter,...but I know for a fact I stand a better chance of getting the wife there during the cold weather in a dome.

The real issue is a having a competitive team of football players.

Really man, that is bordering on bandwagon fan.

You know I like you and know I like and want a winner as much as anyone else, but saying winning plays a major role in determining if you support the team or not is a bit shallow IMO.

The game is on at the local spot every week....maybe 7 miles from the house, yet I make the 10 hour drive up 4-5 times a year.....I am thrilled when i hit Columbus....only 2.5 hours to go.

For actual bandwagon fans, yes, it might be an issue.

Winning doesn't play a role on how "I" support the team. But being competitive is an issue.

I don't attend any more or less than I feel I want to. For me, it has nothing to do with how good the team is. In 86 and 87, when I could have spent a couple of grand, I was stationed on the other side of the country, and could not go.

It's no different than refusing to buy a shovel made in China.

Bull.

I get my Netflix and internet for about $35/month.

I'm not touching 1 game per month for that. I'm probably not touching 1 game every other month when parking, gas, and turnpike tolls are taken into account.

Given my medical issues, internet and Netflix is a lot more affordable than even 1 game per month.

If I had to choose between attending games or losing net access, I think I'd have to save both and trim another part of my budget.. A sports game once a month will not break one's budget if you're a dedicated fan...

For the record, I said 1-2 games a year, not per month.

I may not have said it , but was referring to local people....meaning greater Cleveland.

Medical issues are another issue as well.

Not so my friend,, While it's true I use the internet for entertainment, I also work from home (something I've mentioned hundreds of times).

As you may remember, I'm the owner of a Temporary Service (engineering) and as such, I do most of my recruting using Monster, Careerbuilders, Hotjobs and a bunch of other sites..

So, no I can't do without the internet..

As a guy that has felt the pain of this downturn first hand, I have to watch were I spend my dollars. Do I spend them on the internet which I need to make a living, or do I spend them on tickets to the Browns, Indians or Cavs games?

So don't sit there and tell me what I can and Can't afford and what benefit it will be to me or the area I live in. Quit acting as if you know what we go through in this area..

Damon, I think he is specifically talking about your 'disposable' income & assumed your internet use was solely for entertainment, not a necessity. Attending sports events would be the last thing I would cut out of my disposable budget. 1 nose bleed seat every other month will not break the average budget.

There are other areas of the country getting hammered as bad as Ohio. I've seen estimates on Tampa stating their unemployment rate has touched 15%-20% in recent months. You don't have to live somewhere to understand how ugly the economic situation may be. Don't be so hard on the guy...

One argument is you support the local teams b/c they are here and we should just support them.

The other argument is that when your product is horrible - ie Browns and Indians, about to be the Cavs - then as a consumer I have no interest in buying your product.

Two very different ways at looking at the argument here...

Personally, I am not interested in buying sub-standard products and that applies to all sports teams. Produce a product that is at the very least AVERAGE and I'll consider it more. I don't think asking for something that is AVERAGE is asking for too much.

It's a sad day when there is no team spirit left in Browns Town to go to a game. I always thought going to a game was more than just if the team is good or not. It was for the atmosphere and camaraderie.
