Cutler wasnt in there but I really didnt pay attention to who was in for the bears. I just know Benard owned. Trusnik played a very good game and Veikune played a very good game. He seemed more confident playing with Bowens. Bowens really showed why he is so valuable. He is the general of our D.

One more thing on this roster. There is a theme of tough, physical team first guys. The Chemistry has to be great. I hope what the Broiwns are doing works. I have my doubts but its nice to have a team u can be proud of instead of the Earl Little, Quincy Morgan, Big Money, BE, K2. Jeff Garcia types that have plagued this team with their me fist attitudes.

I would not consider Veikune's game vs the Bears a good game.
Most of his tackles were down field and if not for Maiava cleaning up a tackle he missed and saved a 1st down.
Then that play would have exposed him to even the most green horn fan.

Hey maybe if we lose two of our CB's in a game we can put Veikune in @ CB.
[Joke]

I fully under stand keeping extra LBers [like 9-10] around for ST units and substitutions, but a dozen is like I said unheard off and your leaving yourself inadequately protected in other areas of the team.

12 LBers that we are afraid to let any go is not a very endorsing statement about that group imo.

Edit: [perspective] like keeping 5 QB's

Well, Veikune must have shown enough for the coaches/FO to give him a 2nd season.
We'll see how much action he gets on game days (if he is even wearing a uniform on game days). Personally I think he was a wasted 2nd-round pick but maybe he'll surprise us.

I hope some team doesn't grab Asante from the PS.

I sorted our roster by position culled from a post on another page of this thread.

it makes me nervous that we are only keeping 4 active corners.

Yeah me too, but I think there'll be additions (and the necessary subtractions of course).

I'm incredulous.

OK... obviously
Roth
Bernard
DQ
Fujita
Gocong

are guys we keep

And then...
Bowens
Barton
Veikune
Maiava
Costanzo
Brown
Trusnik
?

Why keep 7 players (when you only need 3 or 4) whose level of talent is virtually indistinguishable? Sure they have different speeds, different things they're better at than others, but none of them are good players! How many of these players do you think would get picked up by another team? I'd venture a big, fat, none. How many of these 12 linebackers are going to be on the 45?!?!?

So now we have one backup safety (Adams) and a single nickle corner. We will likely have every single DB on our roster on the field at once every game! Ventrone doesn't count as a DB. He's a STr... did you see him playing safety in preseason? We've already seen Special Teams Ace Sorensen at safety... it's not pretty. And we cut BMac (without keeping Francies) and turn Asante over to the waiver wolves?! Well, that makes sense, because who's ever heard of a DB getting injured?

Then, we cut Engram who could have been a valuable WR on our very inexperienced WR corps (most inexperienced in the league?) and instead keep Mitchell who showed nothing in the preseason except a couple reverses?

We keep more TEs than CBs?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!

We did get the O-Line, D-Line, RBs and QBs right at least.

Man... I'm pissed.

I would think that we would look for a taller CB, just because our CBs are all 5'10" - 5'11". A guy who could specialize on taking a receiver on a fade route would be a good add.

So it isn't uncommon for any team, including oure to cut later round picks. Savage did it routinely. So your comment really made no sense.

Also my bad on Geathers.

No. It wasn't personal. Every time we have a change in management around here people go gaga on how it is different. What has happened with this draft is no different.

Just wondering, do you feel better now that you think I made no sense..

I'm incredulous with you.....

Gulp*!*

If you have players like T Brown and Veikune who you think highly enough to keep, then why the need to keep two rapidly deteriorating skills, veterans around?
Of the two I think Bowens is a Team Captain more so than Barton and never argued the point of having a level headed presents in the storm of battle and would be perfectly fine with keeping some player who I feel fits that mold.

Question?
Who knows the official time for these waivers to clear???

noon today was the deadline. I'll try to find a source.

The Browns cut 15 players on Saturday night. Browns General Manager Tom Heckert was supposed to hold a conference call with reporters Saturday night, but it was canceled and rescheduled for this afternoon, indicating the team is likely trying to make more moves. NFL teams have until noon today to claim players off waivers.

I agree,

I heard noon today. At that time players who are unclaimed are considered FA's ... and teams are then allowed to start assembling their practice squads ...

...just might take a little while for the smoke to clear and all to be reported..

Ummm ... unsure of whether or not "dawgsbynature.com" is an ok website to post from ... because USA today is reporting that dawgsbynature.com is reporting that abe elam announced on his twitter page the browns have signed a player ...

I saw on his twitter page a while ago that they signed him, which is why I started searching for a credible source ... but if its good enough for usa today ... is it good enough for this site?

Higher standards or very dated rules?

Well I'm fine with the rules if thats what they are. No complaints.

However, I feel that if I do hear something ... even if it's from a source that isnt quite acceptable .. I should at least post SOMETHING about it, that way talkers who dont believe me wont have to wonder if its real or not, but fans who are interested can then go do their own research.

Just saw something saying moves will be made by the browns and announced this afternoon (from an "unnamed" website) ... but that could be just the naming of practice squad players too I suppose..?
