Other Dawgs have already said it here,...I'd rather have these two than Berry and "somebody."

Barring injuries both will be at least average to good starters for years in this league....thankfully we at least have 1 competent guy in the org with Heckert, who got to pick Haden over Mangini's Wilson, who got picked on a lot and looked horrible in week 1....Wilson's also 2 years older than Haden
Ward is a Bob Sanders clone and could land on IR a lot playing the way he is, but gotta love it....maybe we get lucky for once
BTW, I picked both those guys and N.Allen, starting FS with already 2 INTs, in my mock....along with TE Moeaki...that's already 4 rookie starters, along with 2-3 who have a pretty good shot endinf up starters.....just hire me already
How is that possible??? Ward and Allen or Haden and Allen??? I also had Nate Allen with our 2nd pick, but of coarse he was not available.
Like I said I am happy with the way things worked out. We filled a need at two positions of need with our first to picks and if we were to have picked Berry with the 7th pick. There is a good chance we would not have taken a corner, because there were none left that I would have spent a 2nd round pick on. I did have Cox in my mock, in case we were not able to get a corner with the 1st couple of picks.

DB's are usually very easy to see if they have it or not...and a lot of the DB's in this draft have it..they just have to get experience..and getting burned early on will teach them better techniques.
If it were that easy, wouldn't every team be stocked with premier guys?
Nothing in this league is easy, esp talent evaluation.

Hips, smarts, and football speed are the top 3 things for a CB IMHO.
You can go back and look at tape to see if the guy is fluid in his hips coming out of his drops or not. If he is not, he will always have struggles in the NFL, especially with press coverage. A CB with poor hips is a nickel/dime/special teamer waiting to happen.
A top end CB needs smarts to be able to see and understand what is happening on each play, and how each play potentially sets up the next. He is going to be away from the play far more times than he will be the one making the tackle, so how he does in support of his teammates is also vital.
CBs need football speed to be elite. They don't have to have 4.1 speed (although it wouldn't hurt) but they also can't get left in the dust off the line. A CB must be able to cover down the field, and that extra gear to make up ground with the ball in the air is also a trait most elite CBs have.
I think that Haden has all 3 of these attributes. I expect that he'll be successful for many years to come.

Notice you -- correctly -- didn't point out size. I always found it odd that Dixon and Minnie were the two best at the time and so small comparatively,... But,...we had a much better Front Seven then too.

Very good..that first sentence is what I base my evaluations on DB's plus several more things.. Being able to play the ball while running with a reciever, and run support..even the smaller guys who are aggressive know to go low when tackling.. I learned how to play the ball and the reciever ,know when to look for the ball..watch the recievers eyes ..

I still think we should have traded down (3 to 4) spots and picked up an extra pick bottom 4th or top 5th rounder. Then take Earl Thomas with the pick as our #1. He'll be a much more complete player than Haden and would have started immediatley. He's one of the reasons the Seahawks have done so much better than expected. I agree with CleveSteve that Claussen should have been our #2 and ONLY #2 pick. That would have given us a total of 4 more picks, which we really needed. I think we could have had a much better draft with the extra picks. A #3 we gave away, a #4 for the trade down and the two 5th's we gave away. We still need a QB, McCoy is in no way the answer. Hillis should be our RB and get a good back up. We could have taken care of the right side of the "O" line and LB with the waisted # 2's last year. Just kick back and drink some more Kool-Aid, there is always next year and the draft.

That depends on if you think that Claussen will be the real deal or not.
I happen to think that he will not be.
The guy had 10 yards passing in the 3rd quarter. He got almost all of his yards after the game was out of reach.
