They saw a chance to grab a guy off of a roster that is pretty heavy with talent at DL, so they did. I think it could be a good move. Mitchell appears to have some speed and good burst off the edge ..... so hopefully he'll develop into a solid player for us.

Even if he's just a 3rd down pass rush DE it's a good deal for the Browns.

We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

I used to cringe a little when Mangini would pick guys up like this, but after Roth, Costanza, and Trusnik proved to be decent players I don't anymore.

This guy seems to have talent and is young. That's a good thing.

... and Moore.

My buddy in the next cubicle over (big Vikings fan) said he won't miss Mitchell at all. He said he's got a ridiculous first step, and can speed rush around a guy like crazy.

This is because he's freakishly lanky. Unfortunately, once he gets engaged, his height and relatively slender frame don't help him with leverage.

Just what I'm hearing from my buddy.

Sounds like a situational pass rusher for this year, and perhaps a candidate to slim down a little and switch to OLB for next year.

Exactly. A third down passing situation DE. Nothing more nothing less for now.

Didn't Mangini mention this in his press-er?

When I think Long and Thin I tend to think of The Giants current D Line with Osi, Kiwi, and Tuck (and didnt they just draft Paul-Pierre?) ... all athletic guys ...

And Im not overly optomistic ... but they DID just get 9 sacks in one half against the bears ...
