I still think we should start Cribbs and run the flash. The average yardage when we run that is insane. Also... Josh Cribbs is a superhero.
You make the assumption that the average yardage would remain the same showing the same package over and over. Part of the reason this works could be attributed to the surprise it brings to the defense.

O.k ..tell me something ..tell me how to think..look at every single move thats been made and tell me how I should evaluate it.. Can you do that? Even in this instance ,you're not getting a decent aquisition ,even if he was on the team.
No thanks, I'll let you do all the dwelling in the past.
Your agenda is clear, you want to discredit mangini anyway possible.. and I see no value in that....
We are where we are and instead of being constructive with remarks of what we can do today,,, you seem to want to live in the past.. OK for you maybe, but I prefer to deal with things in front of me..
Bringing in Ratliff is the right thing to do at this point. He's the only QB out there (other than Wallace, Delhomme and McCoy) that has even an inkling of the system we run..
I chose to deal with what is, not what could be. I don't have an agenda to protect or bash Mangini.. so that makes it easy for me to sit back and deal with today....
Hindsight is 20/20 vision, you can tell us all how you would have done it.. and who knows, perhaps if you were in charge,we'd have already won a SB.. dunno.. ( I have my doubts, but hey, you know me, I think anything is possible)

I don't need a agenda to criticize Mangini,the moves he makes do it all for me,nor am I afraid to bring up past moves which have destroyed this team. All those bad moves have put the Browns where they are today. Choices don't have to be considered legid because I say they should have done my way..fact is they could have gone other routes and been successful..but they didn't and the Browns are a mess.
There isn't much to lay out what the Browns can do today because they don't have any real,viable options till the end of the season,FA/draft. I said it won't take long to see what this team lacks and only someone who doesn't want to see it for what it is will debate it.

He's got to stay on the roster the whole year now if I am not mistaken. I wonder who we cut (or put on IR) to add him to the roster

I'm pretty sure the one article I read said he had to stay for 3 or 4 weeks..

mangini has greased his own sled. nothing in the way of offensive adaptions (like our opponents did the first two weeks) Leaving in injured players to get further injured. Playing favorites. poor drafting and poor trades last year Now we are forced to go with a rookie who has the WORST receiving staff in the NFL as we read fairy tales about how these Rookie WRs were set to take a big step forward. Ratcliff is a trainwreck. he stinks on Ice but is a mangini toady. I say we play the wildcat most of the game as Cribbs at QB could be no worse than a rookie and the horrid ratfink as your only options.

Not a peep from Holmgren.. don't know what if anything that means however..
I'm betting he's not being quiet inside the building....LOL Thing is, Mangini doesn't appear any more or less worried about it. Seems to be his same ole same ole self.
If he's worried, it isn't showing like it was last season.. make of that what you will....

It's early but I won't be shocked if they start Ratliff instead of McCoy against the Stoolers..it'll be Mangini to stay closed-mouthed till game time to start either one.

I can't stand Daboll ( who would believe But did we run any screens against the Falcons ? Quick hitter , left / right Flanker screens or twenty middle 5 to 8 yard slants ????? You know , slow the pass rush down , maybe hit a big one ????

You know, that one I'm really afraid of, he just might start ratliff, trying again to outsmart the competition. This situation is ugly for whomever starts but it is what it is and it's time to see what we have in the kid. If he blows it, so be it, at least we know, we already know that ratliff will turn it over with consistency.

Not really. I expect the kid to compete admirably but even if he puts up a QB rating of -12 I don't think that tells us anything about what we have.. I said in a different thread, this is a freebee and I hope he enjoys it.. if he does great then that is wonderful, if he stinks it up, then that was to be expected..

If he just manages to throw it out of bounds to avoid a sack I'll consider that a victory!

It's now official, Ratliff in, Aiken out. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...bf-021b32a1bcaeBrowns sign Brett Ratliff Posted 2 hours ago a a The Browns signed Brett Ratliff to the active roster and terminated the contract of wide receiver Sam Aiken. The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Brett Ratliff off New England’s practice squad, the team announced. In addition the club terminated the contract of wide receiver Sam Aiken. Originally signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2007, Ratliff spent the 2007 season on the Jets’ practice squad and 2008 season as the third quarterback for all 16 games before being traded to Cleveland on April 25, 2009. Ratliff served as the third quarterback with the Browns for the first 14 games of 2009 and the backup for the final two contests. He was waived by Cleveland on September 4, 2010 and spent parts of the 2010 season on the practice squads of Jacksonville and New England. A two-year letterman at the University of Utah (2005-06), Ratliff completed 228 of 391 passes for 2,796 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Born on August 8, 1985, the 6-4, 224-pound Ratliff is a native of Chico Calif., where he attended Chico High School. He will wear uniform number 5.

I have always respect Kosar's opinions on the Browns. He reaffirms what I already believed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another note. It really sux that Colt might have to make his first start in Pittsburgh.
So what's the skinny? Why? ..... if Delhomme was able to back-up Wallace last Sunday and played although as a gimp.
With another week you would think he should be improved as far as his mobility.
Did JD re-injury himself in the game?
Why the sudden announcement so early in the week that Colt is the starter for Sundays game?
Because I believe Jake now suffered a further sprain and now has a low and a high ankle sprain .. whereas Wallace only has a high ankle sprain ...
Jake cant play twister right now let alone move around in the pocket or plant on his throwing foot.
He can, however, split out wide in the wildcat formation.
It's not like he went out for a pass or crashed the line hoping to block a linebacker.. he went out there as decoy and stood there doing nothing.. sheesh... he was probably safer out there than he was in the backfield with the ball in his hands.
Decoy? Really? Decoy? Yeah...he had them fooled on that one.
Safer out there? No...safer on the bench where he belonged.
You know on one run, he DID try to get to a man to block. Of course, he couldn't get there. But he tried.
I like his guts...and despise the coaching decision to leave him out there...despise on multiple levels.
