Alright, time to see if we can actually get a lead and hold it through the start of the 3rd quarter.

Edit: Scratch that. Hawks reel off 40 in the first quarter. Cavs look like they don't wanna be there.

Well, we don't have the lead, but did have a good 3rd quarter.

They are who they are. Just no fire power from the shooting guard or small forward position. Seriously, Booby GIbson, Anthony Parker, and Jamario Moon?? When those 3 are getting heavy minutes, you will lose more often than you win.

well, we have JJ Hickson. so we have that going for us, which is nice.

Atlanta was trying to keep us in the game down the stretch and we really couldn't do anything. anything.

a few takeaways from the last free preview NBA-League pass game (I think):

1. AV should not initiate the offense. Anytime he spins to the hoop I have to close my eyes, he doesn't see the open guys on the backside at all (so he gets double-teamed), and he even messed up 2 of the hand-off plays to the cutter.

2. Moon was surprisingly okay tonight. He made a couple shots, played decent defense, and didn't make me hate him. Jawad and Anthony Parker I see in the same vein as Jason Michaels when he was with the Tribe. The quicker they are off the team, the happier I would be.

3. We can't trade Mo Williams. He really is the leader of this team and you can see it. The team responds to him, he's the only guy who can lead a fastbreak and he's only as bad at defense as Sessions has been.

4. Hickson should be a better rebounder, which is frustrating. He is so active in the paint on the offensive end there is no excuse that he can't do the same thing on the defensive end. Must frustrate Byron Scott to no end. He is such a smooth finisher and spot up shooter though. Love having him.

5. Our defense is terrible at covering the perimeter shooter. Atlanta wasn't hitting their 3's tonight, so they just stepped inside the arc and we still didn't guard those (down the stretch Horford, Marvin, and Bibby took turns hitting wide-open uncontested long 2's).

I'm already getting real close to being done with this team. Not because they're losing, but because they look like they're playing with a "woe is me, I don't wanna be here without LeBron to bail me out" sort of attitude. The defense has, by and large, been atrocious, and they play with little intensity on offense. Lazy passes, balls bouncing off players hands, can't make a layup. Tonight they simply postponed their third-quarter ineptitude by a quarter. I expected this team to come out with a chip on their shoulder and fight in the face of all the naysayers, but instead they've become a self-fulfilling prophecy. These guys don't believe they can win without LeBron, and so they're playing like it. Man up and play some damned basketball. I'll support to the end a team that puts forth effort, but I'm not going to stick up for a bunch of guys who act like they don't wanna be there.

Honestelly, after Mo Williams said he thought about retiring I was about to come on here and say I told you we need to get rid of him. However he looks like the only one with heart on the court at times.

Oh yes updated my sig so TJ isn't lonely.

I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be bad idea to start unloading every player who played with LeBron, aside from JJ, who actually seems to get it. Everybody else that's a holdover seems like damaged goods, like they're playing just hard enough to hang in there until he comes to bail them out. Maybe it's ingrained in their collective psyche because it's what they got used to. All I know is it seems like the only key pieces that aren't mourning the loss of #23 are JJ, Ramon Sessions and Coach Scott.

Mo sure didn't seem to be in mourning last night. He didn't have the greatest game, but he was definitely acting as the teams leader, running the break and generally being a team player.

After we lost LeBron, I wanted to trade Jamison, Mo, and maybe AV (and definitely Parker, but that has more to do with not liking Parker. I'd want to trade him regardless).

After watching how Mo led the team last night, I think we need him. More than AV (especially if AV has to initiate the offense like he did...brutal).

i think you can probably get a decent package for parker too. he's a decent outside shooter, decent defender. the money is pretty good as far as value, and he's in the last year of his contract. i could see a few teams making a run at him once the standings shape out in february. i'd pull it in a heartbeat. this team needs draft picks more than anything right now. the more the better. i know your odds are insane when you go late first and into the second, but still, you stand a better chance at landing a diamond.

jamario, same thing.

jamison ain't gettin unloaded unless he shows that he's found the fountain of life and can get on the floor. we're stuck with him, and that's fine because we have time on our side.

i agree though, outside of jj and sessions, i haven't seen much out of this team. i'll give boobie credit too, but it's tough for him because of his size, and he doesn't quite have the agility or overall game of sesssions. boobie is giving 110% though, and he definitely cares.

i think the good thing is that i think coach scott, chris grant, and dan gilbert all understand, i think they are all seeing things the same, which probably wasn't always the same in the past. i think they realize this is going to be a process (where have i heard that before?) and that they aren't gonna give up the future for a guy who might win them a few extra games this year or next year (where have i seen that before?) they're gonna build this right.

it's just gonna take time, but i'm willing to wait if the product comes back strong.

and did anyone see john wall's game last night? kid can play.

I only watched the first half, but I thought Mo looked like he was pressing, trying to penetrate and putting up bad shots in the paint.

I was wondering why you were so down on them. You missed the 3rd quarter when they actually played like a team

Mo was pressing early on. I mean it was his first game back and all, so can't really blame him.

3rd/4th quarters he settled down some. Still a bit pressing on his shot, but he was running the fastbreak (we only had a fastbreak when he or Hickson started it. noone else seemed to know how to do it). And he made some nice passes (including a really nice one to Hickson on a fastbreak that froze the ATL defense and got Hickson and easy trip to the FT line).

Yeah, I was meeting up with a friend on the west side, so I left at halftime and listened to the third quarter on the radio. I was pleased that they were able to cut the lead in the third, but it's tough to gauge individual performances from listening.

I was severely disappointed then to check my phone and see that they crapper the bed in the fourth quarter.

I've been impressed with JJs jump shot this year. If he can knock those down he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

I may end up getting the NBA-online package for Xmas.

What is interesting though is the package that I would get would be the 7-team package. So, you get all the games of 7 teams for the whole year.

My question is what 7 teams would you want to have on your package?

Teams I 'have' to have:

1. Cavs - obviously.

2. Thunder - Durant, Westbrook, and Green. Great young corps and I want to see if they can breakthrough to the West elite levels.

3. Blazers - I honestly just love watching them play. they all play within the system and there really isn't any real star (even Roy).

Leaning towards:
4. Kings - Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins make such an intriguing starting point that I want to see if it will work at the NBA level. Plus, they have plenty of glue guy role players that do the dirty work that is needed to be done (Dalembert, Thompson, Udrih, Landry)

5. Jazz - I hated the 90's Jazz but respected them and Sloan. This cast is much more likeable than that one and I love that the small market Utah team can compete every year with the bigger markets. Also, I want to see how they incorporate Al Jefferson as he should be a beast in their system (once he learns how).

Others I am most strongly considering right now:

6. Warriors - when you need to watch a fun team, you think of the Warriors. Curry and Ellis alone are worth the price of admission, but David Lee is fun to watch as well. This would be my "candy" pick (sweet with no real substance).

7. Hawks - I actually somewhat like watching them. They are an athletic team that doesn't always play smart but always plays tough. Horford is their best player, but gets the least amount of credit it seems. Marvin Williams has also quietly developed.

8. Hornets - just for Chris Paul. I don't like most of their roster and will probably ultimately not pick them because if Paul gets hurt I wouldn't want to watch this team (and he's gotten hurt each of the past few seasons)

9. Nets - I really like Favors with Harris/Lopez it's a good young team. I also expect a splashy trade at some point because that Russian billionaire wants something to happen.

10. Magic - my favorite 'team' of the ones that might win the East. Sadly. Don't know if I can take Van Gundy that much of the year though.

11. Grizzlies - Conley/Mayo/Gay are just fun to watch playing together. Also, even if they did overpay for Conley and Gay, they kept the corps together to go forward (let's see if the new CBA ends up having them lose Mayo because they overpaid Conley though).

12. Suns - I actually thing their run is over and they will miss the playoffs this year, but for the chance at one last run I'd consider them.

Teams I am not considering: Heat, Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, Knicks, Raptors, Pistons, Pacers, Wizards, Bobcats, Twolves, Clippers, Rockets, Mavs, Spurs (I get most of the TX teams games on my local sports channels anyway)

I love Cleveland. Things have been so down for so long that you just don't mess with our fans. It's sort of like being the fat, poor kid with all the pimples in high school. Sure, maybe he gets picked on a ton through high school, but man he's going to have heard all the jokes and have the best comebacks when he gets to college and be the life of the party.

+1 And using his own sound bite drives that point home even better.

That soundbite at the end of that video is scathing.

Right now we're seeing what is one of the biggest problems with the Cavs right now: the inability to extend a lead. They pushed out to a 15-16 point lead very quickly against the Sixers, but can't seem to get it out to 20 or 25 points. They went up by 19, only to have it quickly cut back to 10. Now they're hanging out around 12-14. Obviously, leading by 12 at the final buzzer means you win, but what this is evidence of is a lack of effort on the defensive end. Too many lapses, letting teams back in. We saw a similar thing happen against either the Kings or Raptors, I can't remember which, where they led big at halftime but couldn't maintain the lead in the second half. Until that happens, they're going to struggle to win, even when they're leading big early on.

Tell me about it! I haven't seen a friggin Cavs game yet this year because Dish Network decided that they don't want to have FSN Ohio.

Actually as I posted that I found the channel. I have searched this damn thing every week for this channel with no luck. I am an idiot.
