I hate college basketball so much. Halves instead of quarters, 35-second shot clock, 10 second backcourt, high school three-point line, 5 fouls, soft officiating...can't stand any of it.
I hate the rules but I love everything else about it.
OSU looked pretty good today

Enes Kanter's dad just guaranteed he'd play his sophomore year if the NCAA rules him ineligible for this year, but eligible for next year. AH!!! 1 - Teague 2 - Knight 3 - Gilchrist 4 - Davis 5 - Kanter With Miller, Liggins, Lamb, Wiltjer, and likely Lacey coming off the bench?

I haven't seen UNLV yet this year. Daron Lamb sets UK Freshman record for points in a game today with 32.

you mean they beat KState who was playing their first game with 2 suspended seniors (and they didn't have a practice without them, so it was a disjointed effort).
sorry to rain on the UNLV parade because they did look good, but KState looked disjointed.

sorry, just saw your last post and didn't read up.
like I said, they looked good. they ran the floor, they have some athletic guys on the wings, but it was tough to judge because KState didn't play their game and folded down the stretch. some kudos to UNLV for forcing the issue on them, but they were missing 2 key players due to suspension.
one problem it looked like UNLV will be susceptible to is driving guards. anytime KState drove the lane, all they had to do was pump-fake to get the defense out of balance and get an easy look

also, conference play hasn't even started yet, so everything has to be taken with a tablespoon of salt at this point, but I'm going to give myself a pat on the back anyway. my random preseason Final-4 picks based on knowing only loosely about who was back and which impact-freshman were coming in was (Syracuse, Duke, Washington, Wisconsin). All 4 are in the top6 of Luke Winn's early season contenders. Of course, Kansas and Ohio State are much more favored at this point, but I still am going with my random prediction Quote:
The Super Contenders Team Off. Efficiency OE Rank Def. Efficiency DE Rank ASM ASM Rank Duke 122.7 2 83.9 4 +29.6 3 Kansas 119.0 5 83.6 3 +31.8 1 Ohio State 118.1 6 84.5 6 +30.4 2
• Duke has maintained a high level of efficiency even in its games without freshman point guard Kyrie Irving, who may be lost for the rest of the season with a toe injury, so the Blue Devils should still be considered a title contender.
• Josh Selby was a hero in his debut for Kansas on Dec. 18, hitting a game-winning three against USC, but the Jayhawks also posted a season-low in offensive efficiency with 1.009 points per possession. When evaluating KU as a potential national champ, it'll be important to monitor how having Selby in the lineup affects efficiency.
Only three other teams rank in the top 20 in offensive efficiency, defensive efficiency and ASM -- and they probably aren't the teams you expect:
Triple Top 20s Offensive Efficiency, Defensive Efficiency, ASM Team Off. Efficiency OE Rank Def. Efficiency DE Rank ASM ASM Rank Washington 117.8 7 88.3 17 +25.4 7 Syracuse 115.3 14 87.6 14 +25.3 8 Wisconsin 115.2 15 88.5 19 +24.9 11

I don't like Duke. Best friend loves them, which makes me hate them. But, dang, I loved watching Irving. That kid is special.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but the buckeyes are a special team. All of them are unselfish but are not afraid to kick it up another gear if they have to.

Yea they have played absolutely phenominal the past two games. There are so many options offensively and the defense has really started to improve.
This team is going to be tough to beat in March.

I watched the FSU v. Butler and NM v. NoIowa games last night.
Man, Butler and NoIowa are going to be tough in March. Both play great defense, unselfish offense and can hit 3's (and seem to get them in bunches at just the right time). Both teams frustrated and controlled much more athletic teams last night. It was great to watch really.
(I don't think either are Final-4 candidates this year, but both could easily get to the sweet16 if they play like they did)

With 10 minutes left in the game William Bufford had as many points as the opposing team had total. I love our defense so far. We need to keep improving it in order to win it all.

Duke goes down... We should be #1 as long as we beat Penn State this weekend, which we should do easily...

Next 2 games shouldn't be a problem vs PSU & Iowa. We have at Illinois & Purdue at home the next 2 after that though. That will be the test.

I hope either Illinois or Purdue beats them. Losing a few times throughout the season is good. Keeps a team focused and hungry.

Alabama isn't a terrible team.
Lost on the road, to an average team. It happens.
But, once again, Calipari showed once again, he doesn't know how to attack a zone.

Come play Big East Competition Ohio State Univ, the Buckeyes will lose quite a few times. Haha
As a Conn fan, I will say that playing in the Big East is the greatest. There's no conference where you get to see more quality basketball games every season. Almost every opponent we play is a good team. I wouldn't be surprised if the Huskies got the chance to play in the Big 10 that we could be undefeated.
Instead we play Pitt, a team we match up poorly against (That Courty McGee or whatever is just too big, and Pitt is very deep), and we got a humbling experience. We also lost to a good ND team in a very close down to the wire game
But yeah, I'd love to have had OSU on our schedule this year. Looks to me like the Buckeyes have played two ranked opponents, Minnesota and Flordia ::Yawn::
I'm not saying that OSU isn't a good team, I just want to see them try to play Pitt or Syracuse before I would rank them number 1. Same thing with Kansas.......... Play a big time Big East team, then get back to me on being ranked number 2

Oh yeah, Candyman92, now that we're going further into the season........
What do you think about the Big East Coach's (as well as your own) preseason ranking of my UConn Huskies? I told you those rankings were garbage, and I was right. You had St. Johns ranked ahead of us if I remember correctly, seems quite foolish now
I told you that we'd lose to Pitt, but you really gave Conn no credit. But me, I look at our Coach's track record. UConn has had my heart since Donyell Marshall was our superstar. So I've known that from then on Calhoun puts together solid teams year after year. Every now and then we have a down year, but that's only occasionally.
And I'll say right now, next year, if Conn can get a high level recruit or transfer to play center, we'll make a real run for a championship or at least be ranked close to number 1 most of the season.

There isn't 1 big east team OSU couldn't beat. OSU is the #1 team in the country for a reason.
OSU would light syracuse zone up. We have 4 guys that can shoot.
Sully is to physically dominate for Pitt to contain for an entire game.

I would. I'm not going to disparage anybodys conference but Maryland has played Pitt on a neutral court and lost by single digits, they played Villanova on the road and had a 12 point second half lead before blowing it and losing by single digits... then they played Illinois to a 4 point game.... and Maryland is a mediocre ACC team... and the ACC isn't very good this year...
Everybody swore Duke would coast through the ACC undefeated but they have already lost...
UConn is good, they would definitely compete in any conference but to claim they would go undefeated... I doubt it... there are too many games and too much parity.
