Anyone else miss the pick-sixes from our "starting" quarterbacks?

[satire] Well of course I do! I enjoy raised blood pressure, anger and throwing things at the TV! Cheering your team on and watching them be competative week in and week out is way overrated. [/satire]

He is what he is: Doing great for a rookie with 4 starts under his belt.

Should he start the rest of the games and do very well, I still won't call him a "franchise" qb - but I will say "we don't need to draft a qb next year". The "franchise" qb thing can only come after 2 or 3 years.

All most of us are saying is "hey, the kid is doing it right now, let's let him get the rep's as the starter so we can see if it's a fluke or real".

What cracks me up is most everyone was saying that the style of O he played at Texas wasn't NFL friendly. That he needed a year at least and maybe two before he would ever be ready to be a starter. Too small, not enough arm, etc, etc, etc.......

Now all of a sudden people expect miracles from him with only four starts under his belt. He got thrown in due to injuries before I think he was really ready.

Yet he's adapted well and playing smart for someone most expected so little from this early in the NFL. So while he's ahead of the curve, he's still wet behind the ears.

Now all of a sudden, many want to either pick his game to pieces or anoint him. To do that with any degree of accuracy or sanity is going to take more time. Some things never cease to amaze me. And most of the time? I read those things HERE!

Good post Arch!

honestly, if you go back and read through the posts, most of the overreactions are taken out of context from the post they are responding to.

for instance, I say the 'type of QB I want Colt to end up being' is like Phil Simms. all of a sudden people think I believe Colt is as good as Phil Simms and that I have annointed him a HOF.

I don't understand why you can't bring up names of past great QBs and say if I was Colt (or his QB coach) I would tell him to watch tape of this QB to mold his game that way. This is how I think we would best utilize his skillset.

anyways.

So you're saying Colt McCoy will be as good as Phil Simms, and be a HOFer?

Interesting. I was thinking of Joe Montana, but with like 7 Super Bowls.

They were both selected in the 3rd round from bigtime college football programs. They even both had a bunch of 4th quarter comebacks in college. I think you are onto something there.

But, only 7? that means he only goes 7-10 in Superbowls because there's no way we don't make it to every single one during his career, right?

Well, I think starting next year, we win 7 in a row. Then he gets bored and retires. At which point he tries baseball, and eventually becomes a HOF'er there, too.

So basically, he's a mix between Joe Montana, Bo Jackson, and God

Well, being as good as Phil simms may not work. Phil simms isn't in the HOF. He's on the ballot this year though!

..........................and is running next to dead last.

Even, "I want to go to Didney World" (Doug Williams) currently has twice as many votes as Phil.

So he would need to end up much closer to Montana to accomplish that IMO

And ANY AND ALL QB's in this league won't and haven't been effective without a running game...Been that way forever...Let's add OFFENSIVE LINE to that one to...And let's not even discuss a WR OPTION...A REAL ONE at that...

Think that might be why they call it a "team sport"?

And for some reason, I think Archie Manning would agree with you.

Can't say I totaly disagree with you there. lol

So does anything in fanatic describe such things as....knee jerk reactions.......What you can do with numbers means everything. What you can see with your eyes means nothing.......expect miracles with a third string rookie QB....

I could go on but I think you get my drift.
