Ok. It's on like Donkey Kong!

I have to preface this that:

A. Watching the video from Ballpeen gave me this idea

and

B. I jumped around like a little kid again during the Panthers game when I saw Hillis bulldoze poor number 30. I had to look up the name (Charles Godfrey) but I didn't have to look up the number.

I even took the time to explain to my wife: "truck stick"

Damn that was awesome.

But I'm laying down the gauntlet...

What is your favorite Browns play of all time? The one that had you in disbelief? The one that had you out of your chair.

I can think of many of the worst moments....but the best moments....I want....no I need to see them!!!

Post a Youtube clip if you can find it. If not then tell a great story!

Impress me! Impress all the Browns fans that choose to take a look here!

Mine? I'm 36 and have loved the Browns since I was 6. But actually my favorite individual play of all time happened pretty recently.

Here goes!

1) Why'd you have to put a William Green clip up? I'm still sensitive about him (not really), but I did like him a lot...

2) That play looked very similar to the Steelers vs. Falcons game this year in OT where Mendenhal broke lose to win the game... Very funny they are both against the falcons..

Turk, I love your passion. That is one thing I will always admire about you. But Green is gone Did he even play a down anywhere after we released him?

That plus the fact that he continually ran into the backs of his OL.

Eric Metcalf's 91yd punt return against the pit.

Then this 75 yarder:

Either any one of the three TD's that Gary Collins scored, or either of the two FG's Lou Groza kicked, in the 1964 NFL Championship Game. Scores that were all winners in a 27-0 shutout of Baltimore.

These are too old for YouTube,...

Turkey would probably get a season's suspension for that now,....

Jim Brown, The Greatest of All Time. Wish he had scored in that '64 Title Game, but he did have 114 yards rushing.

Another favorite play of mine is the '81 (?) Sipe to Dave Logan game-winner against Green Bay. I have told this story here before,....at a charity auction in Gahanna years ago, I got to talk with Steve Luke (Ohio State DB) who was on the field at that moment, and he explained to me how he "didn't blow the coverage" on it. Pretty funny.

Couldn't find it on YouTube, but I am not the best searcher in the world either.

It's amazing how much football has changed in just the past 30 years. (lol)

Hurry up, 2 minute situation.

Defense plays straight up.

Offense plays straight up.

Substitution for the Browns ..... out goes Hill, in comes Greg Pruitt ......

No 3 receiver formations ..... no 4 WR no TE formations ..... no 6 DB defenses to read ......

Line 'em up and we either beat you or don't.

I was visiting my Dad that weekend and we were at a new church in Middlefield Twnsp. The church was a renovated Barn and me and a few other kids were in what used to be a hay loft. There was a Basketball hoop up there and a small color TV. We were all huddled around the TV taking breaks from playing horse and I remember all of us making soo much noise jumping around and cheering after the second one that adults came running upstairs thinking someone had gotten hurt or we were fighting.

A few of the Adults stayed a little while missing the rest of their meeting to make sure everything was "ok".

There used to be a bar in Aurora called Clydes...right at the corner of Bissell and Rt.43.. Anyway, a bunch of us rented a bus and we went to that game..

it was amazing.... you wanna talk about a loud stadium...Gheesh...

I forgot what a dink and dunk passer Sipe was.. his only deep throw was underthrown and the TD was little more than a jump ball prayer.. he abandoned the pocket too early, the receivers ran lousy routes, Sam called a running play in the middle of the drive which was stupid he was just lucky because it worked, we passed up a better blocker in the draft than the guy who got the holding call, which shows our FO knew NOTHING about personnel and to top it off we missed the extra point.. clearly this team was awful and just lucked out a win here...

LOL Another thing about some of these replays,, have you noticed how slow the players seem to be.. also,,, look at Sipe,, small guy, small hands, not a big arm...and yet, he won.. Kosar,, not even close to the prototype except in his height... not a great arm,, wierd delivery, and yet, he won.

Funny how that works isn't it..

i couldn't find the individual video for the play, so i am just gonna put the entire highlight video up, but in recent years, my favorite play was phil kicking the long field goal in the blizzard vs the bills!

I have two old favorites...

Metcalf touchdown against Cincy on Monday night where he juked those two Bungles and scored.

Kosar to Slaughter TD pass against Pitt in OT.

New era Browns would have to be the Cribbs KO return against Pitt where he tiptoed down the sidelines.

Sipe's long passes to Ricky Feacher and Reggie Rucker, as well as Thom Darden's hit on McInally.....in the game at Cincinatti that clinched the AFC Central for the Kardiac Kids in 1980. I was at that game and it was a thriller, 27-24. There are no Youtube clips of those plays, just long videos of the game. An exciting watch if anyone's interested.

Why? It wasn't "helmet-to-helmet" so the director of refs will say it's "not an illegal hit".

Besides, didn't Jerome Harrison do the exact same thing to Vince Young ealier this year, for no penalty?

Was that the first ever Browns win at Three Rivers ? I'm thinking not,....but it's worth an ask. Seems/feels like this pass was in Cleveland,...

Metcalf's two punt returns for TD's. I vividly remember that day.

I had to work that day so couldn't see the game on TV. Working for myself as a sign painter I was lettering a van for a heating & cooling company. The owner of that business, and the van, went to the game. I was jealous and told him so. I brought a radio with me but in his garage where I was working was a great radio that pulled the game in loud and crystal clear. Since I was by myself I cranked the volume and lived the game while I worked.

Back in those days, even just listening on the radio, I could see the game in my head. I knew the field position at every down. You have to or you're lost when you're just listening.

When Metcalf ran the first one I was pumped. Later, when he ran the second I couldn't believe it! That was a good game and it made work go by like it wasn't even work.

The next day when I stopped in to collect my check for the job the owner and I sat over coffee and donuts and talked about the game for a good while.

Thanks for the memory.

It's not my favorite, but I too remember the day,....Mother-in-law was visiting that weekend.

She just died this past June,...loved the Steelers.

Went to her grave hating Eric Metcalf. Talked about him all the time.

Hilarious.

One of my favorites...

Kosar to Slaughter - 97 yard TD vs. Bears

I remember after the game Slaughter was being interviewed on TV and one of his teammates, don't remember who, came up behind Webster yelling, "He caught you man, he CAUGHT you!", referring to the defender catching up to him and his having to spin around to keep his balance. It was funny.

One of my favorite Browns playoff wins....

I totally forgot that a Bills player dropped a sure TD before this play. But I remember going crazy after the next one!

Thanks Clay!!!

Man the old Muni was absolutely electric!!! I can only pray that that kind of football comes back to Cleveland someday.
