yep... UM is just plain bad... NW was hurt when their QB went down at the end of the year... MSU just laid a friggin EGG... were they ticked they weren't in a BCS bowl?? Did they not realize they were going up against the defending NC?? Wow... and then PSU just peed down their leg coming down the end....

let's pray the Badgers can get a win today.... Big Ten just got embarassed today and kudos to the SEC... after their first two teams lost they needed a big day today and they delievered.

They look AWFUL!!! They are just embarassing the Big Ten today... sure hope Winsconsin and the Buckeyes can bring home big wins.

SEC is proving why they are one of the best conferences today - would not surprise me if the Big Ten loses 4 games today.

4 and counting. Wisconsin yet to go.

Dang - the big 10 .................geez, it's embarrassing.

I haven't watched any, just looking at the scores - at least Northwestern and Penn St. had semi close games from the scores.....MSU and Michigan ........dang.

Was glad to see Urban go out with a nice win.

It's been a down year for sure, but a nice win today and so far, a good day for the SEC.

Another general thought...

For these bowl games I wish they would show all the pageantry. I'm tired of hearing the talking heads at pregame and halftime. I'd rather feel like i'm part of the experience and listen to the bands during their pregame and halftime shows.

Not sure if we have been that clutch this year, and not sure about the Steeler comment.....I'll take it as a compliment.

As for Rockets comment....I agree.

I know, band geeks, but those kids work hard at what they do, and like the football team, the competition is pretty stiff to land a spot on a top school band.

I agree, give them some air time over the 30 seconds allotted. They are good at what they do and in a few years they are going to be teachers, accountants, salespeople, and anything other than people in the limelight.

The Best Damn Band in the Land, Pride of the Sunshine Band (Fla), Pride of the Southland(Tennessee).....give them some time.

One of the reasons I like Tressel is he props the band and makes his players go over and give their respects to the bands effort.

Class move...other coaches do it, but Tressel seems to be the leader in that area....or so it seems anyway..

Same here...at least I get cable.

Both offenses came to play today. The defenses are getting abused on both sides. However, TCU seems to be making adjustments in persuing the Wisconsin RBs. The TCU players seem to be having problems with their new cleats or the surface on the field.

Well, I think the answer to "WTF is michigan doing in a bowl game?" was answered. Their in-state brethren didn't appear to belong there either.

ESPN bought the rights to all of the BCS games.

Nebraska will join the Big 10 next year and with 12 teams and two divisions they will be able to have a conference Title game thus keeping pace with the best conference in College Football the SEC.

Did anybody watch the outside the lines report on player oversigning? It is a huge advantage for the SEC. Is it illegal? No. OSU will never do it though.

http://oversigning.com/testing/ has gone into painstaking detail to demonstrate how Arkansas’ serial oversigning has produced a significant depth advantage over Ohio State heading into the Sugar Bowl. The Razorbacks have signed 36 more players than the Buckeyes over the past four years. That’s 36 more players to choose from; if Tressel’s staff had 36 extra players – the way they recruit – it would invariably have a dramatic impact on the 2010 depth chart as you know it.

You can only keep 85 players; that is, unless you find ways to cut the fat once you realize that it is, indeed, fat. Oversigning means coaches get a second chance to evaluate players. It mitigates the risk involved with offering a scholarship – and a precious roster spot – to a high school junior.

Surprised there was little rosebowl discussion here. My hat goes off to TCU. They came to play today, made some great adjustments and have shown Gordon Gee that he is completely wrong.

I am a Buckeye fan. However, I realized earlier in the year when I decided to switch to CBS to watch the SEC game of the week that the Big 10 was far behind in talent. After watching this bowl season unfold it is painfully obvious the Big 10 just isn't that good. When the Big 10 teams lined up and ran up the gut against their opponents they did well. When they ran to the edges or went to the passing game, the speed and athleticism of the other schools showed through and made the Big 10 schools look slow, unathletic and fat.

Why Wisconsin didn't just pound it up the gut the entire game, I don't know.

The Big Ten is just not very good.

Hats off to TCU. They were overmatched on paper up front by Wisconsin, but they played faster and smarter, and they got the win. I liked the game that Tank Carder guy had. Their defense made superb adjustments and showed great discipline.

Michigan State has this quality about them that they seem to come up extremely small in pressure situations. Plus they are SLOW. Not to mention that Bama is a fantastically talented team.

Michigan's defense is the worst I have ever seen in college football. I only needed to see two minutes in the second quarter of that game to know what was gonna happen there. I feel like their defense thinks they are playing a flag football game.

Florida's D-backs played a good game, but I swear that I've never seen worse throws than the ones that Penn St QB made today. He locks on receivers and makes the D's job easy.

I really hope OSU doesn't lay a huge egg. At least they are built a little better to face SEC speed with small faster LBs like Rolle, and speedy corners. Lumbering teams like Mich St and Wisconsin don't have a chance if they fall behind early. They simply aren't built to rack up points from behind with no vertical passing game.

the big 10 needs to get rich rod out of here. that would be a first step. what a disgrace that man has been to a proud program in michigan. Second the conference needs to get better on defense, especially the d-line/linebackers. I think the conference has some skill people on the peremiter, but definitely not on the d-lines. Look at the scores given up today. 45, 52, 49, 37, 21. That's terrible, and not going to win many games.

Agreed on all of this. OSU is the only team with close to the speed to match the SEC, and we'll see if that is enough on Tuesday.

They pretty much did. They ran it 46 times versus 21 passes. TCU made just a couple more plays and got the benefit of a missed FG. Honestly, I think Wisconsin's game plan was fine. Given their personnel, there was nothing else they could have done. If the kicker hits that 39 yarder, they might have won.

That is correct, but some of those 46 runs went to the outside when it made no sense to run wide against a fast defense like that.

Really it felt like they gave up on the run game from the middle of the 2nd quarter to the middle of the 4th and when they decided to get back to it they moved right down the field and scored. This loss was on the coaches.

Also why go into shotgun on the 2 point conversion and not at least show the threat of a run?

Oh well at least it wasn't Ohio State that allowed a team from Conference USA to win "the grand daddy of them all"

I thought Wisconsin's run game was supposed to be one of the best in the Nation.

I had been betting on TCU's defense all month though.

You're right, their OC did not appear to do a good job here.

Oh, and if DC is reading. Good showing by the ACC so far. If they could just figure out how to play Big East and C-USA teams all the time, they'd be considered a power conference

I'll make some calls and see if I can get some Big10 vs Big East and C-USA match-ups for next year.

Maybe they should???

Florida does it, but they usually do it by getting players enrolled early so they count against last seasons numbers rather than kick players off the team early on for things like missing bed check.

I agree, it is pretty weak to kick guys off a team for things that normally would be handled by making them run some gassers, but don't complain about teams that do it as long as NCAA rules allow.

If a school choses to not utilize the rules to the full extent, good for them. Maybe they should get some sort of prize.

In a way the Big 10 does. The prize is all the automatic bids to major bowls the league receives.

ain't that the truth. hopefully the Buckeyes reverse that trend.

and I'd actually not want to play Maryland going forward. great recruiting region and they finally landed a solid coach (Edsall from UConn). very solid hire for them.

I think it's crap,...now the National media has placed the entire "credibility" of The Big Ten on Ohio State's shoulders Tuesday night, because everybody else in the conference blew it yesterday. So what.

It's lose-lose for the Buckeyes. If they win, it will be because Arkansas is not top-tier SEC. If they lose, it'll be because they're in the Big Ten.

There'll be no face saved here.
