I like the sound of John Fox with Mike McCoy. Wouldn't mind Fox and McDaniels as OC either. I don't like the idea of gruden though. Chucky never struck me as a good coach, and he likes to hoard QB's too much. Not a good idea in this city.

It took him 1 year longer than it should have but better late than never

I kept saying when Mike retained him it was a waste..a waste of a year.
But he probably knows that now.actually because this came so soon,Mike already had his mind made up.

So far we've heard Gruden, Fox, and Mornhinweg. We just need a minority.

All have the same agent as Holmgren and Heckert.

If the going "skinny" on Fox is actual -- that he is more a defensive minded personality, and wouldn't 'fit' Holmgren's plan -- I would rather they gamble on trying to get Gruden happy with some offensive upgrades.

My biggest positive here is, we will have addition by subtraction with replacing Daboll. There had to be some kind of an offensive change in that regard,...he either had to get better or had to go.

My gut is telling me Gruden, but that's mostly because I do not want MM. Not my call.

Get it right, Mikey,...that's all I ask. Clock is ticking.

The plus side is we can't get much worse. I hope there is a plan in place. I really felt EM was headed the right direction.

Yeah, we need to bring in about 14 more QB's that he won't know how to pick from.

Of course we lack offensive personnel... that was a huge part of the freaking problem this year!

Retards!

No one knows who it will be at this point. Not interviews have taken place.

Who knows, maybe the guy the Browns interview to fulfill the Rooney Rule will blow them away (Mike Tomlin/Steelers).

At this point we should only expect Fox, Gruden, and Mornhinweg to get interviews.

Remember Gruden gushing over Colt at draft day?

Colt and Tebow were his boys!

We need upgrades and will most likely get them no matter who comes in so I dont see that as a big concern for Gruden. Who would his likely OC be is the qustion....

Is there a non 0% chance he stays?

He's toast.

The only guys I hope stick around are Seely, Eberflus, Henderson, and Warhop. Everyone else I have no problem seeing them gone.

Anyone think Mangini would make a good college HC?

Actually he prob would...oddly enough...

Not sure about that as he doesn't seem like the personality type to get the big recruits and college is 80% recruiting. I think he'd make an amazing D-coordinator in college and obviously can be successful in the NFL in some capacity.

If I was his agent, I'd suggest he take the year off since he's making ~ $8M over the next two years and try to build a better PERCEPTION around his people skills...work radio/TV spots

I feel bad for Mangini but the retention of Daboll probably sealed his fate. He has laid a good foundation, a core of players and values that can be built upon. I don't understand how some fans cannot see that.

Anyways...

I want no part of Mike Holmgren returning to the sidelines or Jon Gruden, who I believe is not better than Mangini if what you are looking for is a coach to build a perennial winner.

Fox, perhaps.

I'm kinda sad for Mangini - you can see how much he put into cleaning up the mess that was Browns football and he has made the Browns a much more respectable team going forward.

Does this spell the end of Barton, Coleman, Elam, etc I wonder?

I honestly admire Holmgren for taking his time and giving that year to Mangini. I think it allowed Holmgren to focus on getting a GM and scouts in place and also to begin shaping the business side of the Browns.

Now while Mangini was coaching, it really allowed him time to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of this team as well as that of the HC.

We have all seen the 3 and 5 year plans but this is the first time it seems like someone actually has a plan.

Personnel department in place
Business department in place

Coaching staff will be built to Holmgren and Heckerts strengths. They know what they want. They know what players will fit what they want and they know enough coaches to fill a terrific staff to secure the coaching philosophy they want.

Everyone on the same page top to bottom is simply something we havent had in decades.

Nolan is the DC for the Dolphins, but no one is sure if that staff makes it through the day.

How about Marvin Lewis as defensive coordinator?

Great News this morning.

Now the front office can build upon what they started last off season. Too bad this move wasn't made then.

If Nolan stays at Miami, the only way we can get him is if we give him a bump in job title. I'm not sure if he's anything more than DC right now in Miami.

Mangini has made millions of dollars as a head coach in the NFL. He will continue to make hundreds of thousands of dollars as an assistant coach in the NFL.

I do not feel bad for him.

"Decades" is up for grabs, but I know how you feel,... Holmgren IS being proactive, and that certainly has been a weak spot.

feel bad for Mangini but the retention of Daboll probably sealed his fate.

More than that..if Gini would have incorporated some of Holmgrem's offensive philosophies it might have gained him more leeway..but he didn't and it shortened his leash.

Coleman's a solid pro, not sure I have too much of a problem with him....

I'd say the following should hire a good agent: Trusnick, Ventronne, Barton, Elam, Bowens, E. Moore, R. Royal, Stuckey, and St. Clair to name a few

Not just the money dude. Mangini struck me as a man of integrity and he wanted to finish off a job here. Surely you feel bad for someone who has that taken away?

I know the man's set for life financially. That wasn't my point. Money doesn't buy happiness.

And you know this how?

Point to specifics, please, that demonstrate how Mangini did not incorporate that which Holmgren wanted him to - and cite references.

Not replying directly to you - but - I keep reading that Daboll is the reason Mangini lost his job and I'd like to remind everyone who it was that hired Daboll and then, after a disastrous offensive showing in '09, retained him. Actions, or in this case, inactions have consequences.

My own opinion is Mangini lost his job, and maybe even the team, when he kicked a field goal from the goal-line in Buffalo.
