Every site except footballs future has Gandy as a guard. I'm going to see if I can find out a little more about this guy.

Hood would probably be a descent number two guy or if we draft a guy on the first day he would probably be a nickel back.
Hood's gonna visit 2 other teams this week...He was impressed here and has said he wants to be here...We'll see what happens...
Robaire Smith is gonna end up here this week...No scheduled visit yet but we're interested...Talked to his agent...
Also the Coleman dude from Dallas was here and he wants to sign...
We'll see soon...
Go Browns!!!

Well so far what I gather is that he played LG for the Bears and played well enough to start at LT for a while. And he also started at RG for the Bears before.
Also from what I can tell he seemed to be a pretty descent LT for the Bills. One thing that popped out at me was that he held John Abraham to only one tackle.
College he played RG and won the Guardian of the year award for teams best lineman at Notre Dame.
Anybody know the name of that site that tells you how many sacks he gave up?

Hehe, I don't know why I even bother to read what the team pages say. They had him pegged to be pretty descent.
Oh well, footballs future didn't say he was a tackling dummy either.
Scratch that idea.

We have no use for him. He's not going to be playing tackle, and he's probably not going to beat out much of what we can put at RG right now.
We have the following currently set:
LT - Shaffer LG - Steinbach C - Fraley RG - RT - Tucker
I'd be willing to be that Druzzi would give Gandy a run for his money (at least) at that last guard spot and then we got some youngsters and the Draft. There's absolutely no point in going after Gandy.

Don't need and don't want. I think PS and the FO should stick to who we've got and focus the rest of their time on the Draft. Now we have some perameters, we can see what we need and what we've already addressed. It looks like Ryan Tucker is a likely guy to come back as well.
We have taken care of one side of the O-Line with securing a LG, now we can focus possibly on that Franchise LT spot, go after a OG in the 2nd or 3rd or maybe not at all, and hopefully have a really good looking O-Line. I think we've shown through our pickups that we don't need a LG now and we're not in a super NEED for a DE. I also think with the # of DE/OLB tweeners that are coming out of college, these next couple years are going to be jam packed full of guys that look really interesting to us, HOPEFULLY.
We can now focus on some needs that we REALLY have and that is O-Line (Still I know), D-Line (was always something we were looking at), and possibly DB, and RB (Maybe before O-Line).
This FA has been good especially seeing who Phil has targeted and the fact that two years in a row now he was able to bring in "his" guy. I think that Eric Steinbach is a great pickup, doesn't "sure" up the O-Line, but it's definately something. You bring in the fact that we looked at our pass rush situation with Peek and you see that we have two positions out of our mind for the draft.

He gave up 12 1/2 sacks. No wonder...
Thanks for that site btw. That helps out alot. It's hard to find out good information about people these days and as they say, the stats don't lie.

According to that site, Ryan Tucker gave up the most sacks of any player on the browns line with 8. Followed by Hank Fraley with 5.25.

According to that site Schaffer only gave up 3.5. I'm no expert but that seems pretty damn good.

Sacks ain't a thang chief...
U wanna know about an OL???...Find one that shows QB Pressures and QB Hits...
That's where you'll find out who's a revolving door and who's not...
Give me 5 or 7 Sacks and a LOW Pressures and Hits number any day...Everybody gets beat once in awhile...Take a look at Walter Jones...10 1/2 in 06...lol...

Only 5 holding and two false starts.
Holding calls could also be looked at as the guy blowing him up and him saving the sack but it is kinda hard to determine unless you look at the tape. Which I didn't tape any games and if I did I sure wouldn't go back and check em' out.

I'd like to know who we've got left and who is gone and where they went. I haven't been up on anyone outside of the guys we've picked up so I don't even know where Dropcutt went.

on that note. We got another one.
Wright signs three-year deal Zac Jackson, Staff Writer 03.04.2007 The Browns added another free agent Sunday, signing veteran cornerback Kenny Wright to a three-year deal.
Wright (6-foot-1, 207) is a nine-year NFL veteran who played in all 16 games for the Redskins last season, totaling 39 tackles and 1 interception.
He originally entered the league as fourth-round draft choice of the Vikings in 1999 and played three years for the Vikings, three for the Texans, one with the Jaguars and last season with the Redskins.
He's the second defensive player to sign with the Browns this weekend. Both he and linebacker Antwan Peek played with the Texans when Browns defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was the Texans' defensive coordinator from 2002-04.
For his career, Wright has 7 interceptions, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 53 pass breakups. He should figure prominently in a Browns defensive backfield that saw veteran starters Gary Baxter and Daylon McCutcheon suffer season-ending injuries last season.
Wright will turn 30 at the beginning of the 2007 regular season. He's started 56 of 126 career games.
Never even heard of this guy. Not a real exciting signing but hey it's depth.

Hmm... another stop gap? Isn't 30 the age that most DB's kinda start to lose whatever it was that they had?
But then again, maybe this pickup is just a way of saying that we aren't going to address the DB position this draft. I'm sure Phil has certain positions lined out as areas of real need, areas that we can use stop gaps, and areas that we can find during the draft, so maybe this was just an area where he can use a stop gap.
Any thoughts on that?

I'm hoping he was cheap, is a depth player and that we're still pursuing Hood or Harper.

I'm not too thrilled either but there still could be a chance we could sign Hood. Highly doubtful though because I doubt Phil is going to get in a bidding war for a guy like Hood.

This Wright kid sounds like he could be a half way decent Nickleback. Hood would be an awesome pick up now.
you had a good run Hank.

It's hard to say. If we get a realy good CB staring us down in the 2nd round I don't think there is any way Phil can pass on them.
I would think we will still go after a CB some time in the draft, probably in the mid rounds though.
If you watched this team last year you know CB isn't an area we can afford to use a stop gap. Plus with Baxter and Cutch we need some depth.

While he isn't a great player he is an upgrade over Ralph Brown. We needed somebody who could at least hold down one of the CB positions until we can develop somebody from either this years draft or next years. On a good playoff team he would probably the # 3 or # 4 CB.
