Tribe putting a big hurt on the Ms in the 4th. 7 runs so far and the bases are juiced with two outs.

Edit: Bases weren't juiced; no man on first. But now nobody's on base, because Pronk just crushed a three-run homer.

11-0 in the 4th ..... going for their 5th win in a row.

I'm kinda liking this year so far.

It's always fun when you turn the game on halfway through an inning like that

So far .... through 6 innings ...... every starter has scored at least 1 run ..... everyone except LaPorta has a hit ...... and everyone except Brantley and Shoo has an RBI.

12 runs through 6 innings tends to produce some gaudy stats. lol

You know .... maybe this team is better than we thought.

I know that teams we have played so far have had some issues ..... but we have hit the crap out of the ball ...... and our pitching started out rough .. but we have allowed only 6 runs in the past 4 games .... and have executed really well fundamentally.

The early going looks good.

That was a 2006-style Hafner blast ... a towering, mammoth, majestic HR like he used to send to the upper deck at the Jake. He got out in front, got full extension, and hit the living bleep out of it. Nice to see.

Hafner for Comeback Player of the Year? Why not?

Exactly.

His bat speed and confidence in his swing is back. If that stays all year then that's all I need to know to know that Project Donkey is back and ready to crush some skulls.

I could get used to this.

Our pitching has been superb after the 1st 2 games.

this is the tip of the iceberg. like no logo mentioned, plenty of our top prospects are close to joining the team. We had a few down years, but we're getting close to another 3-4 years of great baseball. Championship caliber baseball.

Shocked that the tribe is at 6-2. Great job. Brantley needs to step it up in the outfield if this team is going to compete, though. That was not major league defense.

However, CF will improve when we get Sizemore back.

Brantley will probably back up Sizemore, and also work in LF.

kinda knew we would hit the ball a little, but the pitching has been a pleasant surprise. any time you can get those 2-1 type games like tonight, you are gonna have your chances going deep into the season.

goes along with that whole thing that people say about everyone winning 60 and losing 60, that 40 games where it could go either way is what seperates the haves and have nots, and tonight was one of those 40.

the other thing i notice is that the 4th inning of tonight and last night and really kind of a trend through a week-plus is that once these guys get through the lineup the first time, they make adjustments to the pitching and put up better at-bats. gotta credit manny and the coaches for that. they're doing a good job.

i don't know if these guys are for real, but they are fun to watch and are up there fighting every at bat.

and early on, it looks like OC is the most underrated signing in baseball, he has been huge for this team with his production, i can only imagine what he adds in that dugout and clubhouse with his leadership, that guy has done nothing but play for winners in his career.

What I like is that its easy to say, at this point, "oh its just 8 games in" but 8 games quickly turns into 20 games, and 20 turns into 40, 40 into 80 and suddenly you're halfway through the season. If they can keep it up at some point it will cease to be a fluke, or however people may want to write it off, and just be the 2011 Cleveland Indians.

I'm not saying that we're winning the Central or anything, but a start like this sure beats the alternative. The way its going, losing a game is going to be much more of a disappointment than an expectation.

Not really. He spent the first half of his career playing for the Expos.

I think we're in it all year long. Our starting pitching is iffy, bur our bullpen may be the best in baseball, and our hitting is solid, plus we're playing good fundamental baseball, turning the opponents mistakes into runs. Look at tonight we win the game on a throwing error by bradley, on a sacrafice fly. Thusday we win on a squeeze. The day before, boston walks the bases loaded, and we turn it into 4 runs.....

Acta is 10x than wedge at the fundamentals, and situational hitting. Wedge always played for the big inning. Plenty of times he didn't get it, and we would lose the close games.

Seattle is garbage right now. Our lineup compares favorably to most teams. As you have said having cabrera is huge. Him and Hanahan, are twice the players that were velbuena and marte. Good times are ahead.

I know that we are only this far into the season, and things could change within a week. But wow. I am simply excited to watch these guys play for the first time in almost 4 years....?

I wonder what Eric Wedge is thinking as he sees these guys go ...

Here's something really impressive:

Tribe Linkerama

Stat of the day: The Indians' 25-man roster is tied with Florida for the third youngest in the big leagues behind Kansas City and Pittsburgh. The Indians' 40-man roster is the second youngest.

That bodes well for the future. Hopefully we don't get blown up again before we can get really good.

And Kansas City and the Indians have 2 of the best farm systems in the game. They say the royals is the best in recent memory. These 2 teams will be battling it out for the next 5 years or so. There will always be a rebuild, but in that window, championships could be won.

Well, we have almost an entire infield ... and potentially an All Star caliber infield, waiting at Columbus with Chisenhall, Phelps, Kipnis plus Hodges all being pretty highly regarded guys.

I also read that Drew Pomeranz is striking out damn near everyone he faces. lol Something like 2/3 of his outs so far are on strikeouts. We also have Jensen Lewis who has had success at the Major League level at Columbus just in case we need him. Alex White looks like he belongs too. Then add in guys like Putnam, Kluber, and Judy ... and there's talent and depth down on the farm. Our starters seem determined not to allow anyone to come up though ..... they're pitching effectively, and going deep into games. (I have to knock on wood any time I say or think that) The only weak spot so far in the bullpen has been Hermann, but it's way too early to bury him.

I think one of the biggest things is that the Indians are not making error after error this year. I really do think that Orlando Cabrera has helped settle the infield tremendously.

Hey ... plus we don't have Sizemore back yet .......... and Choo really hasn't started to hit yet.

Yeah ... could be a fun year brewing.

exactly. it's just that I don't think anyone (including most in the organization) thought that it could start this year.

still skeptical as I don't think our pitching is deep enough to withstand injuries/cold streaks, along with our schedule is much weaker early in the year. but sweeping through teams and playing like we have been is really, really encouraging.

oh, and Ytown, don't get too excited about Grady's defense in CF. They keep saying he'll play CF, but we really need Brantley to hold it down as much as he can because Sizemore is going to need to bring his knees back slowly and playing CF is not conducive for that.

I just feel really good about this team. I think that I feel a lot better about this team than most do ...... and I think that they'll finish either 1st or 2nd in the Cental. I think they'll be in it till the very end if they don't win it.

Last year Tribe pitchers got tons of ground balls .... and the ball got kicked all over the damn place. It seemed like 2 errors per game ... even though it wasn't that bad. However, in addition to the errors that were charged were mistakes that cost them a double play here, and there, and there, and there ..... and it added up to 110 erros, and probably 15-20 double plays here or there that weren't turned. That's a LOT of extra baserunners, and a lot of extra opportunities for the opposition. I see a much, much improved infield defense this year. I really like the addition of Orlando Cabrera a lot. I think he'll be that coach on the field type player, who will also solidify things with his play. I think that he's already paying dividends with Asdrubal Cabrera, helping him to see that he can drive the ball as well as playing sound situational ball. 3 HR already is encouraging ... and that's because of both the hitting coach, and Orlando's input. Sometimes a kid hears one voice say something and he can tune it out ..... but he hears 2 voices .... one of which plays right next to him every day ... and it makes it easier to hear. Teams can't crowd Cabrera anymore. They have to respect that he can drop it down, slap it to the gaps, beats you with speed, or drive the ball out of the park if the pitcher decides that he wants to throw a "get me over" type pitch. That's 2 big issues that Orlando Cabrera has helped with in just the first 10 games.

If we stay in the 70-80 error range ..... don't blow those double plays, giving the opposition extra outs, and Cabrera matures into a hitter with some power to go along with solid situational hitting and that's probably another 15-20 games right there. I mean, we lost 41 or 42 games by 1 or 2 runs last year, and those extra outs played a part is many of those.

I like the team at the Major League level, and there is a lot of help available in the Minors if necessary. There is a lot of AAA quality pitching ready to make the jump, and damn near an entire infield in waiting at Columbus. If we get Sizemore back to full strength/speed, then we have a really good outfield. We have one of the best closers in the game ... and really quality set-up guys. Our starting pitching has been excellent thus far. Everyone has an off game here or there .... but right now these guys seem to be feeding off of each others successes. If anyone starts to slide, we have help, and damn good help, avalable and ready to plug in.

I'm excited. I think the Indians could wind up shutting up a lot of the naysayers this year. (Of course, they could get to one out of making the World Series and some would still whine and moan)

I'm one of the more optimistic people when it comes to the Tribe and even I'm not that optimistic

I'm not expecting Sizemore back to old Grady form. If he gets to 70% of that, then I'll be extremely happy.

I don't think we have as much AAA pitching as you do. I think we have a few guys who can be used to patch for a game or two, but none that are really ready to come up to the MLB level and take over a rotation spot.

------------------

But, I'm encouraged by Hafner's start, Masterson who isn't getting enough pub, Santana, the IF defense, and the timely hitting so far this season. It's been promising and I really hope we can take advantage of our early season schedule.

It would be fantastic to be cheering for a contender at least through the trade deadline

one more optimistic hint about the Tribe. almost every year 2 teams from under .500 the year before make the playoffs.

season is really young, but the teams under .500 so far off to promising starts:

AL

Cleveland 7-2
KC 6-3
Baltimore 6-3 (tough AL East though)
Anaheim 5-4

NL

LAD 5-4
Florida 5-4
Milwaukee 5-5
Pitt 5-5
Arizona 4-4
