That's the ballgame! Tribe wins as they beat Weaver in Anaheim!

Alex White gets his 1st win in the Majors.

The Indians came into this roadtrip with the #3 pitching staff in the Majors. The A's and Angels were the top 2. The Indians have, thus far, outpitched them (combined) on this road trip.

Not too shabby considering that we've had our 2 Minor League "fill ins" both pitch in this series. (Gomez and White)

Both these guys are pitching great with the others on the DL...Outstanding...

Carmona is winless in five career starts versus Los Angeles despite a 2.48 ERA.

Time for our bats to come alive today...

While the Indians have proven to be a threat offensively, they have averaged just 2.8 runs and are batting .230 through five games of their six-game trip.

MUST play Sizemore---Choo is 1 for 8 lifetime against Haren while Michael Brantley and Asdrubal Cabrera are a combined 2 for 19. In contrast, Grady Sizemore is 9 for 17 (.529) with two home runs.

Unfortunately, Sizemore is something like 1 for his last 32.

It's only logical that they would score less against the top pitchers of the teams with the top 2 ERAs in the AL. They have still outscored those 2 teams during this roadtrip so far.

Coming home with a split would have been an excellent roadtrip. If they can somehow win today and go 4-2 ... that would be incredible.

that was a huge win last night, to beat one of the league's best pitchers, that's pretty awesome. i thought white pitched pretty solid, made the one mistake with wells, but otherwise looked good. and i love that he didn't lose his composure after the wells homerun, just kept goin, not bad for a guy just brought up.

we need a big one outta fausto today.

cool thing is, they don't really go out west after this other than a trip to SF and arizona, and the rangers.

I don't know how many watch ESPN's The Reporters, but that Guitterez guy from the Miamai Herald gave the Indians major props this morning. Even dropped a few quotes from Major League.

What a weird couple of games. We can't do anything against their rookie but we chip away runs against their two aces. I love this team.

Pretty opportune time to get our 1st runs off the Angels bullpen this season.

Let's hope that Kearns helps make up for his error earlier with a base hit right here.

The Angels have made a living of beating the damn ball of home plate all freakin' weekend.

They must have 10 hits that way in 3 games.

Indians defense has been far below their season norm.

Angels up 6-4.

Crap... that error by Everett was a killer. That was a relatively easy play. Oh well...

A day off and a good night's sleep and they can take the Rays down.

Yep, time for a little home cookin' ...... and another tough pitching staff coming in for the Rays.

no BJ Upton for the first 2 games though. big break as w/ Evan in the lineup, BJ has hit really well this year.

Gomez is a Clipper once again. Kudos to a job well done while with the big club though.

He had a couple of rough starts, but he had a decent relief appearance, and a solid final start.

I think that he has a future as a major league starter. He just wasn't ahead of Alex White at this point.

I think ultimately, he gets stuck in a numbers game with the amount of pitching talent coming up through the system in the next couple of years.

he's a nice luxury to have for when we have injuries though I think we should start looking at trading some of these guys for more talent at lower levels soon (Valbuena, Huff, Gomez -- not yet on jeanmar though, he's too valuable this season as injury insurance)

At least the Indians know they have a lot of viable options if one of our starters gets hurt or starts to fail. I can't remember when we had such a pleasant problem before.

If we're still in the mix near the trade deadline, I'm afraid we might lose one of these young guys. I hate that crap.

but at least we would be getting back something proven, instead of just unloading guys because you wanna save a few bucks on your bottom line.

the more i watch this team, the more i think that antonetti shouldn't look in just one particular area of the team.

i feel like we are really good in all areas of the game (pitching, bullpen, defense, hitting) but not great. so if you can just find a good player somewhere i think the team would be better off, regardless of looking at just one area. kinda like your draft board. go bpa.

i know people might disagree with me with the pitching being great. don't get me wrong, they have looked great, but i am thinking down the line in a potential playoff series. i don't know if they would have what it takes to match up against a tandem like we just saw with weaver and haren. i know they just beat weaver and almost haren, but you see where i'm getting. if they could add really really good pitcher, maybe like milwaukee did with cc 3 years ago, i think the tribe would be downright scary.

i'm not sayinmake a move to make a move, but adding a good player, pitcher, hitter, or whatever position, would be pretty awesome.

and it's too early to see who's truly out of it.

John Hart was too much of a chicken to pull the trigger on a Randy Johnson or Curt Shilling when we needed them in the late 90's. We held our cards in the hope that we'd eventually win multiple titles with our deep talent pool...but we didn't. If you're the GM of a Cleveland team, or another team with a long title drought, you need to do everything you can to win the current year....THEN and only then, worry about winning multiple titles in the future.

totally agree. don't mortgage your entire future for a small upgrade at your chances, but you have to take risks. you can't just not move your back row in a checkers game (i know i have brought that comparison up, but that was always my comparison to shapiro)

lol and with the way the white sox are going, when the tribe comes to town the tribe fans could go pittsburgh steeler fan at the stadium.

You know ... I almost wrote that same thing. With Alex White and Drew Pomeranz in the pipeline, and Nick Hagadone behind them .... Gomez might get caught up in a numbers game.

Nice start by the Tribe after the rain delay...

The starter for the Rays tonight was my cousin's roommate at Kent.

2-2 going to the bottom of the 6th.

Josh Tomlin adding to his own record with yet another quality start in a row to start his career.
