2012 signing day is a long ways away.
anyways, I do understand that the Buckeyes are going to have a rough road ahead in recruiting (and the loss of 10 or so scholarships a year will extenuate that hurt).
but, until the Wolverines actually land such a class or, you know, actually beat the Buckeyes on the field, I can still get in my quips.
that will be the one fun thing about this upcoming Buckeye season. no Big10 title to worry about (likely), no BCS berth to worry about, likely locked out of getting a bowl berth (if NCAA gives restrictions in time).
so, the whole season is about beating Michigan.
Right, 2012 is a long way away and 2013 is even further. It is all kind of pointless right now, but Michigan looks to be doing what they need to do to get back on track.
The biggest upgrade this offseason is Greg Mattison. He coached a Top 5 defense in the NFL last year and is now having an impact on these kids at Michigan. Talent wasn't the major problem the last few years for Michigan's defense. It was scheme and lack of depth. The scheme is being fixed by someone who knows what it takes to win in college and the NFL, and the depth is being added with last years class, and the 2012 has 14 commits as of now, with 10 being on defense, and 4 being 4 star linebackers.
OSU has obviously dominated the series lately. It started with Carr, but then Michigan tried to go too far outside the box to get the edge and hired an amazing offensive coach who ignored defense and it just go worse. Hoke and Mattison are defensive coaches that can hopefully leave the offense to Borges, who has a quite an impressive resume as well.

I do think Michigan is on track to come back to what it is, historically a top football program in the NCAA. RichRod was a terrible hire.
I'm a little disappointed that tOSU and Michigan can't meet in the Big10 title for a few years because tOSU is going to get post season sanctions.
As for Tressel, I was hearing Reagi(sp) and Rhoda yesterday and they mentioned that he might go back to his Alma mater (Baldwin Wallace) because if John Snell doesn't make the post season the next two years he may be out. Would Tress drop down to DIII? I mean his dad took them to a NT and the field is named Tressel Field.
And BW needs to compete against Mount Union, bringing in a guy like Tress would help you recruit against them. IDK, can't see him dropping down to a D3 school but with the connection and he loves Ohio you never know.

tressel could drop down for a year or two to try to bring his stock back up, but he is 57 already, so he probably doesn't have a ton of stops left in him. It is hard to tell.

Tressel and his family do still keep their main residence in Berea which is where BW is but BW plays at Finnie Stadium, not Tressel field.

The field itself is what was renamed. Dick, Dave, and Jim provided the lead gift to replace the turf at Finnie. link

Good, I played on that turf many times back in the late eighties/early nineties and it was hard as a rock.
