How well Colt plays will matter little if our WRs continue to be unable to get separation from defenders, as has been the case the past two years.

My cousin was at practice this morning. Said Colt looked bad and the WRs couldn't get separation.

Is your cousin a pretty good judge of that stuff or an average fan? Not trying to be funny here.. Just asking

Massaquoi and Cribbs were both out. That put some newer guys into different roles.

Plus, Cameron was the starting TE because of injuries to Watson and Moore.

According to May Kay Cabot, Greg Little, in his 2nd day of his 1st camp ........ was a starter. That's bound to cause a few issues due to an almost complete lack of familiarity.

I agree, the new rookies and UDFA heads are probably spinning and will be for a while.

Not to mention that with many in camp who will not be here come September and practices will not be as sharp as during the season.

Outside of Mebane and Jenkins there wasn't a lot of talent out there at DT. I really think Bunkley will be a solid fit in this defense and he gives us an excellent 3 man rotation in the middle. This is one of those deals that wont draw a lot of press but could really work out well for the Browns.

No it will not cost hardly anything to bring him in.They aren't going after big names but guys who may potiential and really out of their former teams plans.

andra...according to the roster this morning...we have 9 DTs and 6 DEs.

Those numbers include the rookies...

This early in camp, it is difficult to know how good some of our roster talent is...there might be some surprises.

Keep in mind, as teams are forced to cut players to reach required roster sizes, there will be opportunities for Heckert to add more DL talent, if needed.

Shurmur is happy him or so it seems..

I liked what I saw of him last pre-season.
He was undersized for our 34 DE last year, yet was still brought up to the active roster (namely due to injuries) from our PS, although He did not receive any PT to my knowledge, but then neither did Mitchell.

He's a Heckert boy, but I'm not sure where he fits into our new scheme. My best guess is LDE and possibly DT in passing situations.

Was he asked to gain 15-20 lbs to play DT? I don't know, but at 6'2" and 280 lbs I think he is the perfect size to play the strong side DE.

He could be a diamond in the ruff.

It's good to hear that Coach Shurmur has been impressed so far

Random though. If we are 4-12 again this year, and Colt looks bad.

We have two #1's. Do we package those, and a #2 and try to move up to the #1 spot for Andrew Luck?

Hoping Colt shows we don't need to think about that option, just thinking out loud here.

Let's just hope we won't have to worry about that and we can use those (2) #1's to get (2) players that will greatly impact the starting caliber of our roster.

Mon, 01 Aug 2011 10:34:05 -0700

Cleveland Browns DT Brodrick Bunkley has not reported to training camp and there is a question as to if he ever will report to the team. The Browns acquired Bunkley from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade.

No way we package 3 starters for 1... Atleast thats how I look at it..

I'd rather stick with a QB and build around him and the defense.. if he doesn't pan out.. then drafting a round 1 QB and plugging him in seems to me be a better option rather than drafting a guy and hoping he makes everyone around him better immediately.

look @ Ravens QB.. decent QB b/c of the talent around him
look @ Sanchez .. decent QB b/c of the talent around him..

that situation just makes it easier when a defense can haul ur offense out of foul mess ups.. Did u see James Harrisons comments about Ben? similar. lol.

maybe if we line up three RGs next to the center we won't need a RT?

Lauvao, Yates, Greco, Pinkston...

Brandon Braxton is a Right Tackle and if he is called on to be the starter then I think he will do well.

Generally I agree. But when you're talking about a guy that is supposed to be a "can't miss", future all-pro QB ... It might be an option.

yea.. i feel u.. lets see what he does this year since he decided that now wasn't a good time for him to come out..

my opinion may change too if we lose too many games.. :smh: With our schedule though, I'm trying to be pretty optimistic about this season.

Maybe he just thinks he deserves a new contract???

I hope it's not because he just doesn't want to play here.

Traded players can go immediately. Signed free agents must wait till the start of the new league year. (which is idiotic)

Maybe he got confused about when he had to report? Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

If Colt plays that poorly then yes we need to do what we need to do to get a Qb to be "The Man". Fortunately I do not think we will need the #1 overall pick to accomplish that. Next year's draft looks like it will be a very strong QB draft.

Likely 3 top 10 caliber Qb's in Luck, Landry Jones Okla and Matt Barkley USC. Some people are really high on Nick Foles Arizona (I am not). I do kind of like Ryan Lindley San Diego State and Brandon Weeden Ok St (Though I believe he is older 26?) if we the top 3 are gone we should be able to get one of these guys with our 2nd #1. Also hear good things about Kirk Cousins Mich St but I haven't seen enough of him to form my own opinion.

We are Browns fans, that's what we do.

He probably got a day or two to get things sorted out personally to get his stuff here. No need to jump to the conclusion he doesn't want to be here.

The thing is that Greco is listed on the roster. Bunkley isn't.

They traded for Greco after they traded for Bunkley.

That's a concern.

Now, if he's in camp but not on the roster and/or practicing, then I have to wonder if there is a problem as far as injury or something.

The Browns haven't formally announced the trade yet either, so something is up.

He will play defensive tackle in the 4-3.

Did you mean he will sit on the bench behind Brian Schaefering and Brian Sanford ( and others) in the 4-3 ? or has something changed?
