Hey TopDawg... What is the link that says that Frye is being shopped? (I'm an insider also)

Just go to the OBR main page and the main story is "Goodbye Charlie?"... It's that article.

Is this just an OBR assumption or is this fact?

Apparently, many NFL scouts have told the OBR that the Browns are shopping him. There was even something in there that before he was traded to Denver, we were trying to work out a trade with Detroit to get Dre' Bly, in a deal that included Frye.

I think that Lerner has a MAJOR woody for Brady Quinn. Plus the Browns were supposed to bring in Marques Tuiasosopo today for a looksee, who Savage seems to like. I think that Frye is "bye-bye".

Tuiasosopo?? Gawd, I hope not. He couldn't beat out the flotsam the Faiders have had at QB since he was drafted in 2001. No thanks, I'd rather see if Charlie can progress at all beyond where he is now (which is better than Tuiasosopo has ever been).

Either that or something is cooking on the trade front.
Maybe Atlanta for Schaub, or Houston with Carr.
That sounds more of a possibility to me than Quinn.
I can't believe that the Browns would enter the season with Anderson as the only vet QB with experience????? on the team. So I wonder if something hot is already planned along those lines???

You cant say that, we are also "shopping Reuben" so doesnt that mean Peterson? As far as we know this is all hearsay imo. Why has only the OBR picked up on it?

This might be somewhere in the other 10 pages of FA discussion, but Rod Hood is expected fo visit...

Philadelphia Inquirer: "Running back Correll Buckhalter is expected to visit with the Denver Broncos, and cornerback Rod Hood is expected to meet with the Cleveland Browns."

I thought Hood was already here once. Is he coming back? If so, that could be a good sign!

Well, that just doesn't make any sense. We would trade Frye and draft Quinn....that would put this team on a completely different timetable. Ugh. I don't think I'd be ready for that.

Who knows what the FO is planning? Thomas, Peterson, Quinn, or Branch. We could see either of those four. I am truly confused on what we might do.

When was he here? That article is just from yesterday. So, unless he was here yesterday, then yeah, I guess he's coming back.

How about this? Frye and #3 to Atlanta for Shaub, #10, 2nd round pick, and first round pick in 2008. I could see this happening..

Mahan seems like a good, versatile back-up:

Powerful offensive lineman with starting experience at both guard and center... Wide-bodied, agile offensive guard who displays quickness off the snap... Started all 16 games at right guard in 2005… Gained starting experience at center (eight games) in 2004 following C John Wade’s season-ending injury... Played in 41 career games with 24 starts... Has now started 24 consecutive regular season games (eight games at center in 2004 and 16 games at right guard in 2005)… Also started one postseason game… One of two rookie offensive linemen to make the opening day roster in 2003… Drafted in the fifth round (168th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers.

Sounds pretty good. Sounds like he could be a starter.

LT- Joe Thomas?
LG- Steinbach
C-Fraley
RG- Mahan?
RT- Tucker

Sounds solid to me

he tends to narrow his base and has difficulty sustaining blocks on a moving target. He lacks the bulk and strength to be able to knock people off the ball on a consistent basis and a strong bull rush will knock him back into the pocket. He plays with good intelligence, does a good job of recognizing the blitz, and excels in passing off and picking up line stunts and twists in the middle. Overall, he excels at the technique and movement phases of the game but needs to improve his strength and bulk so he can be more dominant at the point of attack.

punch...confused, is exactly what Savage wants the other 31 teams to be thinking too.

Can you say "smoke screen"?

First, rumor that Droughns is on the block and now Frye and lets not forget Oline coach Marshall comments about Shaffer...

"The Browns made a huge investment in free agency last year to sign left tackle Kevin Shaffer. There are no plans to move him from there -- as long as he produces, of course.

"Kevin came in and was in a completely different style of offense in Atlanta than he was here last year," Marshall said. "Right now, Kevin will line up at left tackle, and we'll go from there.

"He's got a lot of improving to do, as they all do. He's got a clean slate. I don't have any preconceived notions on what Kevin did last year, nor do I care."

..........no mention of Joe Thomas or any possible draft picks figuring into the Oline equation. The impression one gets from reading Marshall's short story is that the Browns are done with the Oline.

Yep, we want them all confused, not knowing what is smoke screen and what might be accurate information about our draft intentions.

I'm neither a charlie supporter or hater... I just think that he deserved a chance behind a better line before being kicked to that curb..

But hey, if Savage and the powers that be want to move Charlie for a Pick or something and draft a Quinn or Russell (russell won't be there when we pick 3rd..) then so be it.. I think unfair to Charlie, but then, it's a business....

My only thought is this,, wouldn't charlie make a better back up then DA? or does anyone think that there is a whole new bunch of QB's coming in,,,, in other words, no Charlie and no DA and Dorsey and no more Lang Campbell!

Good lord, what will people have to complain about if we draft Quinn....

JC...

A little more info here.

The Browns hosted two more free agents today, guard/center Sean Mahan of the Tampa Bay Bucs and quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo of the Raiders, a source said Monday.

Mahan, a fifth-year pro, has started at left guard, right guard and center for the Bucs. He started 12 games at left guard in 2006 and 16 games at right guard in 2005. He would most likely replace Browns free agent Cosey Coleman, who's not expected to return.

Mahan is scheduled to visit the Seahawks on Tuesday if the Browns don't sign him, but they are expected to make a strong push. He would be paired with guard Eric Steinbach, who signed a seven-year, $49.5 million deal on Friday. Mahan (6-3, 301), was originally a fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame in 2003.

Tuiasosopo would most likely be targeted as a backup quarterback. A seven-year veteran, he's started two games for the Raiders. The Browns tried to trade for him last year, but the Raiders weren't interested. Tuiasosopo (6-1, 220) originally a second-round pick of the Raiders in 2001 out of Washington.

Mahan sounds like good depth, but do we really want Tiu? I've never been impressed by him and don't really want to see him here.

Then Marshall talks about more changes in this short article...

web page

Work on line seems infinite
Browns promise more new faces Sunday, March 04, 2007Tony GrossiPlain Dealer Reporter
Nobody can accuse the Browns of ignoring their offensive line - except in the draft.

For the second year in a row, the team is pouring millions of dollars into the line in free agency.

Last year it was center LeCharles Bentley and left tackle Kevin Shaffer signed to long-term contracts of $36 million each.

This time, the Browns broke the bank on Eric Steinbach, who became the NFL's highest-paid guard with a seven-year, $49.5 million deal.

The day before, the Browns signed Hank Fraley for $9 million over four years. Fraley will play center at least through 2007 and probably longer as Bentley most likely undergoes a third knee surgery in May or June.

And new line coach Steve Marshall promised more new faces.

"There are going to be some new parts to the puzzle," Marshall said Saturday. "We're still in the process of putting the pieces together. And the draft is part of that.

"When we start [organized practices] in May, we want as cohesive a group [as possible], and hopefully they'll get to play one position and be set."

Could Wisconsin's Joe Thomas, the top-rated tackle in the draft, be another piece? We won't know until April 28, the first day of the NFL draft. Until then, Marshall said Shaffer starts at left tackle.

The right side is unclear. Cosey Coleman probably will leave in free agency, creating a vacancy at right guard. At right tackle, Ryan Tucker has been working out in the club's weight room and says he plans to return after leaving the team twice last year. Kelly Butler also is in the mix.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CONFUSED EVEN MORE, NOW?... ...
And the Browns are not the only team sending out mixed signal. I read that Detroit could put both recent pick ups from Denver, Bell and Foster back on the trading block.
All the teams seem to be sending out mixed messages and the draft is how many days away?
We will all have headaches by the time draft day is here...lol...mac
