I don't know how thrilled I'd be about playing against Willis McGahee twice a year.
Give him the rock, and he's still a beast that is in his prime.

With all the news flying out of Buffalo that he doesn't read the play book, or really know whats going on every play....he still does a decent job. The kid knows how to find the redzone, he's got speed and power.
If he's got the rock in his hand, he's dangerous. And I'm really doubtful that he'd get away with the same kind of shananegans in baltimore that he got away with in buffalo. What with guys like Ray Lewis breathing down your neck.

jc Im really getting jittery with these guys coming in for visits and us not getting them inked. I think that the longer they stay free agents the lesser the chance is that we get them. Smith is a must IMO. We need an end and with alot of dline already being signed who is left if we dont get Smith? Mahan isnt a must but if we want him then sign him, I just want to know that things are set and not have these question marks anymore. Same goes for the Lewis, Droughns situation.
Im thinking you guys are getting to greedy...LOL....You already got IMO the best Olineman that was available in FA....as well as a CB and a LB.......while my Steelers have signed a PUNTER!!!!! to an offer sheet...that will probably be matched by the 49ers.
NO MORE FOR YOU!
HACK
Just a quick update...it appears the Browns have signed Jamaal Lewis......and the word is the 49ers will match the one lone FREE AGENT the Steelers have talked to....A PUNTER

Hack, honestly, what do you think of your new team "philosophy"? What lies ahead in the new Steelers "era"?

Apparently, many NFL scouts have told the OBR that the Browns are shopping him. There was even something in there that before he was traded to Denver, we were trying to work out a trade with Detroit to get Dre' Bly, in a deal that included Frye.
SMOKE SCREEN to make the Browns APPEAR interested in Quinn - making it easier to trade down and gain picks.

Nothing to report yet...as there really is no NEW PHILOSOPHY at this point.
Tomlin has come in and said all the right things....one of the things he says he is a firm believer in is a strong running game, and a strong defense....which has been the Steelers MO for over 30 years.
As for the 4-3 or the 3-4....no one knows yet...although I am guessing it will be a hybrid like NE, and Balt run.
I dont feel anything will be truly known until the whistle blows..and the games begin...then we will see if Tomlin is Hero or Zero.
So far...I like the guy...I like what he says, and how he carries himself...but he has pretty big shoes to fill.....Will he be here 10 years or will he be gone in 3?
Today I am betting its 10 years...but ask me again if he comes out and goes 0-16 two years straight.

I see you guys are making another big splash in FA. Resigning Davenport and picking up a punter. You guys will be much improved now, especially with all the new coaches on your staff. Actually, how do you feel about that? The Steelers hardly ever go after people when FA starts. Is that all Rooney's doing, because it sounds like it.

they don't have to. they usually have most of the pieces they need.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Having agile linemen was a Cleveland Browns trademark.Guards that could pull, trap, and carry messages was the hallmark of the only successful era in Brown's history.Stienbach could have played on those teams,he's that good. Draws, traps, screens, there is a reason why some teams can run those types of plays, while most can't,and that is good guard play.Something we haven't seen since Joe D. and back to Hickerson and Wooten before that.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Falcons sign Sanders, still talking with Horn FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (March 7, 2007) -- The Atlanta Falcons signed cornerback and special-teams player Lewis Sanders, and said they have not yet reached an agreement with receiver Joe Horn. Sanders (6-1, 210) set a career high with seven starts for the Houston Texans last season. He appeared in two more games but missed the rest of the season with a hand injury. The seven-year veteran still set career highs with 37 tackles and six passes defensed last season. Anyone remember Lewis Sanders???? i think he was cut in 03 and then brought back once n cut again or something....mayb it was 04 who knows....glad to see he is still around...poor guy could never stay healthy... http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/ATL/10045653

Yeah, I think you're right. I remember a few were disappointed when he decided to ship off to Houston.

Bit of controversy with Sanders was there not? Didn't the site report that he'd signed back with us and then bailed out? That the guy?

Yep. I remember that. Both our site and Houston's site had articles saying we signed him.
He agree in principle to resign with us, was reportedly "on a plane to cleveland" and he somehow ended up in Houston and signed with the Texans.

By GEOFF HOBSON bengals.com March 9, 2007
The Browns have raided their AFC North rivals. The agent for Bengals safety Kevin Kaesviharn, Bruce Tollner, confirmed his client visited Cleveland on Thursday and an NFL source said Friday that the Browns have made an offer sheet on backup defensive tackle Shaun Smith, a restricted free agent. It’s not known if the Bengals have officially received the undisclosed sheet from Cleveland, but Cincinnati has a week to match or lose him. Because he’s an undrafted free agent tendered at $850,000, the Bengals would get no compensation for losing Smith.

Ok, here's big question #1... it says we've "made an offer sheet". It doesn't say that he has signed our offer sheet. So, am I reading it wrong or is this really a non-report from the 'NFL Source'
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

well, good... then if nothing else all that stuff in the other thread about the Steelers, Giants and whomever else having 'expressed interest' means nothing. Unless the Bengals match, he is a Brown.

doesn´t look like we´ll get Mahan:
Steelers | Team close to a deal with Mahan Sat, 10 Mar 2007 06:29:27 -0800
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have made significant progress in contract talks with free agent OL Sean Mahan (Buccaneers) and both sides hope to have a deal in place by Saturday, March 10. Mahan would likely compete with C Chukky Okobi and OG Kendall Simmons to replace retired C Jeff Hartings at center if he were to sign with the team.
