Yep.

It's difficult, but you never know ..... Detroit could have an injury or 2 just like we have. If they do, they could drop like a rock.

Big win tonight. Verlander got #20 tonight but we maintained position.

We just have to maintain, then sweep Detroit.

Not easy ... but possible.

How about Thome coming up big tonight with a walk and a HR, and 2 runs scored, and Asdrubal Cabrera with a big night, hitting his 21st HR, 3 for 5 at the plate overall, and 4 RBI.

Great win last night. Good to see Thome mash one, and Cabrera came up clutch once again.

Today its Bruce Chen vs Justin "Bat" Masterson. Chen is 1-0 against the Indians this year, and 4-2 lifetime, but with a pretty high ERA (4.12) and WHIP (1.68). Masterson is 3-2 lifetime vs Royals, with a 3.88 ERA and a WHIP of 1.39. Slight edge should go to the Featherheads, but Chen can be tough on a predominantly left-hand hitting lineup.

In Minnesota, its Penny (9-9, 4.82) vs Duensing (8-13, 5.12) - meh.

I read today in the PD that Sizemore is working out, taking batting practice, and should go on a rehab assignment in the next few days. If he's healthy, he could provide a big boost.

Man, what else?

Well, if we manage somehow to win this thing, no one can say we didn't deserve it.

As an aside, why is Matt LaPorta's at-bat music something that a 12-year-old girl would listen to?

You set 'em up, and we knock 'em down!

Indians win 2-1, as Santana hits 20th. David Huff gives them 6 strong innings and the bullpen finishes the job. Bats are still anemic, runs are hard to come by. I hope Kipnis and Sizemore get back soon and contribute.

Anyhoo, 5-1/2 games out - 4 in the loss column - with 31 games left. The problem is now you have to leapfrog Chicago to get to Detroit. That loss on Sunday - a real missed opportunity - still has me annoyed.

that series with seattle was annoying to me. Chicago went there after we played them, and swept them like we should have. They held them to 5 runs in 3 games. We gave up 29 in 4. the sox did what you're suppose to with a minor league squad.

The injury to tomlin is going to hurt. Plus those 2 doubleheaders we'll have to throw some scrubs like mcallister out there again. Hopefully the sox could beat on the tigers this weekend, then we could take care of business next week. We don't have to sweep, just win the series. But a sweep would be nice.

I'm not all that concerned.

The Indians play both the White Sox and Tigers ...... and those 2 teams play each other. That gives the Indians an opportunity ..... and that's really all you can ask for this late in the season.

Having have the team on one injured list or another doesn't help ...... but they're hanging in there ..... somehow ....... so I still have hope.

i'm frustrated as all get-out. but, we are hanging in there.

hopefully we can survive. I just want to be 3 back of the Tigers going into the last weekend with Chicago out of it.

I'd rather be 10 up, but that's just me...

Remind me to never hope/rely on KC for anything. Ever again. Like, you know, hold a lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Two nights in a row guys? Really?

Last night the Tribe had a 6-1 lead with the Tigers and White Sox losing....I was excited. Then BAM...both teams come back for the win.

And now this, goodness KC! They even had two on in the 9th too.

Oh well. The bullpen and bats put the Tribe in this mess. I don't see how the Tigers fall apart. And that is a need to catch them (us or the White Sox).

Simple math. About 26 games to go and a 5 game lead. If the Tigers play .500 ball the Sox and Indians have to go 18-8 to tie them (19-7 to beat them outright). As good as the Tigers are playing, I don't see how that's possible.

This is why you don't go into September down 5+ games and win a division.

Man, Jack Hannahan is feeling it lately. He's got two jacks tonight and three in the last two games.

I think that Hannahan is better as a part time player, facing just left handed pitching when possible. His average against left handers is over .300, and he's like .125 against righties.
