Yeah, and then someone told him: 1. There is no basis for the suspension, and 2. You don't collect a paycheck if you are suspended.
I would love to hear the NFL rationale for the suspension. The undertones are apparent, but nothing has been stated.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

He just told the league a few weeks ago he wouldn't appeal.
I'm guessing the NFLPA is leaning heavily on Pryor and his agent. I doubt they want the league to be suspending players who aren't members of the NFLPA.

So the news from Browns online says they cut 16 players Saturday morning. OL Brandon Braxton, Wr LJ Castile, Ol Carlton Ford, db Coye Francies, TE Evan Frosch, db Carl Gettis, lb Eric Gordon, dl Travis Ivey, wr Chris Mathews, lb Steve Octavian, dl Ko Quaye, db Ramzee Robinson, db DeAngelo Smith, lb Sidney Tarver, and terminated contract of wr Demetrius Williams, Obviously the 1st disappointment in my mind is Demetrius Williams 2nd Brandon Braxton, he was my hope for future right tackle, 3rd Maybe, Coye Francies or Travis Ivey, I guess I thought they'd make it. Does this mean TE, Alex Smith is on the team? and is this the first year he made the team? If so, good for him. Robiskie made the team, Demetrius Williams did not. ? hooray beer
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Well I knew there would be folks I would feel bad about them being cut. Looking for those, I find none, onlly a list of 10 players I knew would be cut, and no mention of the 17.
Wonder who the 17 were, As late as early saturday morining the roster still listed 80, there are 10 cuts listed so who are the other 15-17 ?

The NFLPA approved it.

Got a source? I've never read anything to that effect. Just the opposite, in fact. Quote:
An NFLPA source had told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter the players' union recommended Pryor fight the suspension but that Cornwell and Drew Rosenhaus, Pryor's agent, believed it was a losing battle and that Pryor should accept the NFL's punishment and move on.
link
Scott Fujita, an NFLPA rep, is also quoted in the article as stating that the union is concerned about the precedent the league could be setting.
The article does state that D. Smith and Roger Goodell worked together on an arrangement for Pryor's allowance in the supplemental draft, but that doesn't mean that that they approved of the suspension.

I think what everyone forgets including the national media is this is NOT a carry over suspention from college. The reason for the the 5 games is because he tampered with the draft process. He could have declared for the regular draft at any time, didnt then he decided he wanted to go into the supplemantal draft and on purpose began to do things to ensure he would be declared ineligable for the upcoming season by the NCAA. That is not how the supplemental draft is designed to work where if you have buysers remorse (dont want to finish an eligable year) you can onpurpose get into trouble become ineligable and declare for the Sup draft.
He could be opening a can of worms he doesnt like. IMHO
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

There are many more that refer to it as well, some point to PFT and others do not.
