I don't like the 16 teams conferences. Theres only so many games in a year. Having 16 teams is pretty stupid. Even if you have 9 conference games, there will be 7 teams in your own conference, who you don't play. That's no way to determine a conference champion.
If they are split into two divisions then you will have to play everyone in your division. If you don't win your division you can't complain. The only time you will have an issue is when you have a three team tie. Team A beat Team B who beat Team C who beat Team A. As long as they make the Tie Breaker some sort of game related stat then I'd be fine with it. I just don't like the "Team C hasn't been in the championship game the longest so they get to go" rule. The team(s) that don't get to go would be eligible for a wild card (see below).
Then if you take the division winners and play a Conference Title, Then take the Conference Winners and do a play off with a few "wild card" teams the system will be better than it is today. IMO

the PAC16 was going to go into 4 4team pods. you play everyone in your pod and 2 from each of the other pods (9 game conf. schedule). schedule would be unbalanced and top2 teams would get into championship game (which makes it weird too). but, it would seem more like a conference as you play everyone more often (rather than playing 7 from your division and only 2 from the other).

Marinatto also reaffirmed that the league intended to force Pittsburgh and Syracuse to stay in the Big East for another three years. The league's bylaws require schools to give a 27-month notice before leaving.

not that forcing 2 schools that want out to remain for 3 years will be awkward or anything.

This is what I have suggested for 16 team conferences. It just makes the most since imo.

the issues with it (for me) are twofold
1. completely unbalanced schedule within the pods as you are playing most of your games against different opponents.
2. unless you have a 4 team conf. champ. playoff (which is currently not allowed), then you do not have a good definitive way of selecting 2 teams for the championship game.
I prefer having 2 8team divisions to build rivalries and create championship game matchups between them.

No doubt. Get them on the phone, work out a buyout and move on.

Good points.
This is why I think that there has to be only two divisions/ conference , but each division can be broken down into two (pods) or North and South, East and West, if you will for an example.
I think that it's inevitable, that we will see the 16 team super conferences, but there are still many kinks to be worked out.

South Carolina Gamecocks Put On Notice, Latest To Be Investigated By the NCAA Share Tuesday, September 20, 2011 Gamecocksonline.cstv.com By Bob Evans Senior Writer Earlier in September, freshman wide receiver Damiere Byrd was suspended four games and forced to repay $2,700 in extra benefits before he can return to the South Carolina Gamecocks. It now seems Byrd wasn’t the only member of the Gamecocks who received extra benefits. According to ESPN.com, “the NCAA has accused South Carolina athletes of receiving $55,000 worth of impermissible benefits and recruiting inducements for getting reduced hotel rates and for their involvement with a Delaware-based mentoring organization.” While these allegations are a far cry from tattoos, cash for memorabilia, cars and strippers—like at Miami and Ohio State—Gamecock athletics could face serious repercussions for these actions. Recently, Boise State’s football program received reduced practice time, three less scholarships per season (for the next three years) and probation for extra benefits ranging from $2.34-$417.55 per athlete. In the case of South Carolina, 10 of their football players and two women’s track members stayed at a hotel at the rate of $14.59 per day, instead of the $57 per day. In all, the Whitney Hotel is said to have given the athletes $47,000 worth of extra benefits. Just doing the math here, 12 athletes receiving $47,000 worth of extra benefits equals out to $3,916.66 per athlete. With just basing the number on what was printed in the article, this is about $3,500 more than what the highest Boise State player received, in their report. The NCAA will have to dig deep to find out if the South Carolina players ever paid back these extra benefits or not, it's probably safe to say the resurgent Gamecock football program is in for some stiff sanctions after the season is over. South Carolina will face the NCAA and these allegations on Feb. 17, 2012. web page

I think that some of their rules are pretty outdated imo and need to be reviewed.

Which is perfectly reasonable, but until such time as they are reviewed and changed, they are still the rules.
I said a while back that maybe what it would take to get the NCAA to take a long hard look at their rules is for the top 100 schools to all send in a letter to the NCAA at the same time detailing violations or potential violations within their programs and overload them. Maybe we do need a Baylor vs East Carolina championship game to drive that point home.

I agree, they do a heck of a good job recruiting on defense.

I think the LSU players are on some high grade amphetamines, they are bouncing off of the walls, constantly.

the issues: other sports (minor issue, but still there), football cachet (only Navy has been relevant in football lately), and geography (for Air Force as the Big10 has so far still kept their boundaries somewhat sane).
Just for the record ... the AFA won the Commander-in-Chiefs trophy last year and has been no worse than 8-5 the past four years playing in the MWC (aka playing TCU and Utah every year). Troy Calhoun has a 34-18 record as their coach and they've won a bowl game the last two years.

My Gators should have an easy time with Kentucky tonight.
Charlie Weis knows how to use Chris Rainey, not unlike he did with Dexter McCluster in KC last season.
QB John Brantley is figuring out how to be John Brantley and not Tim Tebow.
They need this game with Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Georgia all coming up in October.

And the last time the Gators lost to Kentucky was 1986, or about two years before 23 year old Chris Rainey Florida’s oldest player was born.

Braxton Miller doesn't even look to throw.
Drops back, runs.
I'm not sure he's even looking down the field.

Yeah, dude, I see why you're not too high on him. His elusiveness is great and he's relatively composed but his pocket presence and accuracy are non-existent.
I don't know what's more pathetic right now: our passing game without a completion or the fact we're winning regardless. This has been a pretty bad game to watch.
