I havn't really heard many of the experts say to many good things about Brady Quinn. Except Diam ofcourse. I have heard that his arm is OK but not great and his long passes flote. Maybe Diam is putting to much starch in Quinn's jock. All said, Quinn doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to me. Do we want a QB that chokes in the big games?

Is there an equal chance of getting a quality OT in the second round as there is a quality NT in the second??

Maybe but in this draft the dopoff is huge..the next best OT is Ugoh and he needs work on his technique but is maybe more athletic than Thomas with a huge 36'' wingspan..

I think Ugoh is a decent prospect who can be a good NFL pro at LT.

He managed to do the job against top competition in a pretty good conference. His backs had great years and his qb wasn't getting killed every game....but I admit he is probably more a run blocker than a pass blocker.

And you are correct ... for once
Thats the problem with Arkansas, they were primarliy a running team , so they pass blocking techniques are weak..
I would gether if the Browns should take him they'll move him to RG or RT..

And nothing wrong with a RT....teams run that way more often than not.

At least you see I am right.....keep reading and you will find I am right alot more.....but one step at a time for now.

Good job!

What "Experts" are u referring to???

Schefter (SP?)...NFL Network guys???,....Hardly "Experts"...

I consider guys like Savage and Gruden and Weiss Experts...Savage likes him...Weiss LOVES em'...I'd love to hear from Gruden who knows QB's as well as anyone...

I'm real close to there's only TWO guys for us at 3...

Thomas
Quinn

Quinn's got a much better arm than Frye...
Comes to the NFL game much more prepared to run an NFL Style Offense....
Has much better zip on his passes...
He's got primo size...

MY only problem with him is this...And I don't give a squat about the Big Game Losses...The dude went from 50-50 TD to Pick ratios to 32 and 7 and 37 and 7 the 2 years Weiss was with em'...His team SUCKED...But Weiss or no Weiss...Will the kid be able to disect an NFL Caliber Defense???

THAT is the question ALL QB's have coming out...Some pass and some fail...

If we're SMART and take Quinn...We'd be smarter yet getting a REAL NFL Guard in Round 2 and START BOTH from Day One...

Wideouts???...Check
TE???...Check
RB???...Check
Decent OL???...(With a Rnd 2 OG)...Check

Shaffer/Steinbach/Fraley/Blalock or Sears/Tucker...Is BY FAR the best line we've fielded yet...

I think he would start over there until he develops his pass protection skills.

Look man....many people are gunshy of a qb in round 1....you aren't going to convince them.

Quinn is a top prospect at the position. If we take him, there is the risk involved with any qb, but he has solid potential for a big pay-off.

If we want a good qb, we are going to have to take one up there sooner or later, risk or not.

He would. I don't think we will see a push to move Shaffer until the other slots are solidified. Then, if he is a weak spot, we make a move...Steinback can be plan B at LT.....who knows...maybe he is plan A and we just don't know it yet.

For the sake of this discussion, let's say your 100% right about Quinn,,, what good is having a bigger arm, more zip and primo size if he's either running for his life or laying on his back with a 300LBS lineman sitting on him? Just wondering.

True enough, but wouldn't a line like this be even better

Thomas, Stienbach, Fraley, Tucker and Shaffer... You can still get Blalock or Sears where you were gonna get them anyway, cause your gonna need one of those guys when Tucker goes..

Now you have the long term answer on the Left side of the line,,, and you have the short and long term answers for RG and maybe even RT,, and if and when Bentley returns,,, we are in GREAT shape

Your plan is good,, Very good,, I just happen to like mine better...

Again....you act like the line hasn't been addressed or will not be addressed more this year or in the future.

First we don't know what else Opie i gonna do in FA..we had our offensive big splash, so any other OG brought in will be a lower tier FA.

The way I see it in the draft , if he takes Quinn he can go OT/OG in the second and/or OG in the third/fourth or fifth rounds..any combination that yelds a quality linemen.
Next , who said Quinn had to start every game this year?
He doesn't , he will see the field but at first he will not.
