Austin Rivers is about as stable and mature as Demarcus Cousins.
I predict him throwing punches at Aaron Craft.

I love this Kentucky team already ...
Terrence Jones looks more focused. Taking less bad shots and letting the game come to him.
Anthony Davis is just so long and so athletic that he's a nightmare to match up with.
Mike Kidd-Gilchrist is basically a DeAndre Liggins defensively, with a better game at the offensive end.
Kyle Wiltjer is fundamentally sound.
Marquis Teague is more of a "true point guard" than Knight. I think Teague ends up being the best Point Guard that Calipari has had other than Derrick Rose (John Wall will be a better pro, but I'm talking strictly college)
Doron Lamb is a more balanced player. He's not JUST a shooter anymore.
Jarrod Polson can play some minutes! That feels weird to say, but Polson can give us some good minutes off the bench and not hurt us. He's not going to come in and score, but he can come in an run the offense and let the rest of the talent take over. I have no problem with Polson playing minutes in a big game this year.
More balanced scoring this year ... Last night Davis had 23, Teague had 16, Kidd-Gilchrist had 15, Lamb had 15, Wiltjer had 14, and Miller had 8 and Jones had 8.
I really want to control my excitement for this team, because the best team doesn't always win a title (Ohio State last year, Kansas/Kentucky the year before, etc.). But I don't see anyone better than us, and yes that includes North Carolina.

I thought the game last night with UNC and MSU was cool and was a nice thing to see after hearing about child rape stories all week. I thought it was an unbelievable tribute to our military, I hope they do it again in the future.
Maybe next time they can do it in a hangar with a backdrop of a bunch of fighter planes, that'd be freakin awesome.

and Cleveland State should be struggling to figure out who they are without Norris Cole.
amazing victory for the Vikings. great job by them adding a notch for a possible at-large berth this early in the season.

It's nice getting done with work at 8:30 and having a 24-hour college basketball marathon on when you get home. Kent State plays West Virginia at 10 on ESPN.
Joe Thomas made Justin Timberlake change his name. He didn't want wusses to have the same initials...

I'm watching it on ESPN3 right now.
I work 10-6. There's a "break" from 6-7. It takes me 45 min. to get home.
That break from 6-7 is perfect. Gives me time to drive home and get back in front of the TV.
College basketball for 24 straight hours, capped off by Kentucky vs. Kansas in Madison Square Garden. If life can get any better than this, I'm not sure how.

In the building at Madison Square Garden tonight ...
50 Final Fours (Duke 15, Kentucky 14, Kansas 13, Michigan State 8)
16 National Championships (Kentucky 7, Duke 4, Kansas 3, Michigan State 2)
Man, I wish I was there.

anyone get to watch the Kent State game?
saw the highlights at halftime of Belmont/Memphis and loved their coach telling them that WVU would crumble under pressure and then they went out and made them crumble.

If Pastner can get Memphis to play some defense this year, they are going to be good.
Joe Jackson is the best point guard in the country.

witherspoon is pretty dang good. the problem i have with memphis in this game is that they are gamblind so much in the passing lanes and trying to get steals that they are getting burned badly in the paint.
against the elite teams that simply is not going to fly

I wonder is Pastner has the same practices as Calipari.
Calipari doesn't do any defensive drills in the first month of the season.
If Pastner is the same way, and can get these kids to buy into a defensive system the way Calipari does, Memphis is a legitimate Final Four contender.

Kentucky is favored by 6.5.
Ohio State is favored by 10.
Not sure what to make of these lines. Do they undervalue Florida and Kentucky? Overvalue Kansas and Ohio State? Mixture of both?

•Florida lost a lot of front court talent.
•OSU beat Florida by a good score last year.
•OSU smashed teams at home last year.

I'm going to the game tonight, and I can't wait. I'll let you know who's underrated and overrated. On the plus side for the Kent State Golden Flashes, they took down Huggins and WVU by 10 this morning.

I think Ohio State is one of only three teams with a realistic chance to win a National Title this year.
They'll have to overcome Matta's questionable (at best) in game decisions and gameplans, but they are talented enough.
But, they are third (albiet a distant third) on my list of title contenders.
UK/UNC
Ohio State

I was thinking the same thing at first. However it was still kind of cool. Congrats to coach K.

The refs in the Kentucky/Kansas game last night were awful.
Not complaining, because they were equally bad both ways.
One time down the court, they'd call it tight, and someone would pick up a touch foul.
The next time down the court, someone would get mugged and they'd let them play.
One possession in the first half, they called a reach in foul on the perimeter on Kansas, then we inbound the ball, and Terrence Jones gets basically run over on the baseline with no call.
They just couldn't make up their mind how they wanted to call the game.

I didn't understand certain calls they were making. I couldn't tell if they wanted to just let them play or call it tight.

oh, I just noticed that Youngstown State beat Notre Dame yesterday.
Late to that party, I am sure, and I know ND is supposed to be somewhat down this year but dang. Good for the Penguins.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but in case you're not that would be the Notre Dame in South Euclid not South Bend.

Two years ago, I saw Long Beach State play at Kentucky. I remember writing how much I liked what Long Beach State was doing. I said they seemed like a "pesky 12 seed that could cause trouble"
Their starting 5 then :
G - Stephan Gilling G - Casper Ware G - Larry Anderson F - TJ Robinson F - Eugene Phelps
Their starting 5 last night :
G - James Ennis G - Casper Ware G - Larry Anderson F - TJ Robinson F - Eugene Phelps
Consider me not surprised by them knocking off Pitt.
Long Beach State is no joke.
