Peterson is my favorite College player, but I have to say I really really really want either Thomas or Quinn... If we get Quinn we need to get Blalock or Grubbs in round 2... and If we get Thomas we need to get Blalock or Grubbs in round 2

This is the year where we can put together an amazing o-line, dont let it slip through our hands Phil!!! The RB's next year are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like last year Key.
How many times did you hear them talking about Kameron Wimbley before the draft last year?

That's why the LESS they talk about JT?? The BETTER I LIKE IT!!!!!

Where's Ryan Tucker?

If we draft Thomas, I highly, HIGHLY doubt we'll go O-line again in the 2nd. That'll be reserved for D-line or corner (I sure hope we get Hood so we can go D-line).

No starting RB will want to split carries.. No one wants to give up their PT.. but its going to happen...

I still feel like the Browns will get Adrian Peterson.. Someone mentioned earlier that Lewis would be handed the ball once they get to the 20.. who's going to take them there? Frye? not by himself... Peterson will definitely help him out.. I want to see Peterson in a Browns jersey...

hopefully both Peterson and Lewis can retire as a Brown.. after a few rings that is

That's a feature back for ya. He's had questionable character, and that rough-and-tumble "I'm the man whether you like it or not" mentality is what gave him that reputation.

Is it good? Is it bad? To each his own. I wouldn't expect him to endorse Peterson, as that'd just eat into his carries, hehe.

Savage was commited to the LB corps last year. McGinnest in FA market. Wimbley in the first, Jackson in round 2.

Then we're pretty sure he won't take a LB in the first or second this yr.

VERS I can say Joe Thomas also

I thought he answered the questions clearly and to the point, didn't doddle around or anything.

Maybe you're just naturally percieving him as arrogant becuase you've hated him for so long, I don't know for sure. To me he sounded confident in his abilites and mindset that he could get things done and you could give him the rock.

A little cockiness is always good too.

Good point...

I wonder who Savage would take at the top of round 2?

Kalil?
Sears?
Blalock?
Staley?

Good Lord, our offense would look disgusting if we lucked out in the draft and went:

1st - Thomas
2nd - Blalock
3rd - Pittman (an absolute steal)

I dunno, but I think Savage is setting this team up to go; Offense in the 1st and Defense in rounds 2nd and 3rd.

For any chance at a top heavy Offensive draft, he's going to have to make some significant Defensive progress in FA. Robaire Smith, Rod Hood, Marcus Bell, resign Russell, etc...

I don't necassarily feel he'll go OL in both rounds 1 and 2,but it wouldn't surprise me. I mean he did assert that same mentality last year, but who knows.

I would think Blaylock myself. I mean Fraley isn't the weak link in the chain and the jury is still out on La Charles return next year. So IMO,if there's one OL position he could leave alone,it's C.

But I'm more of a mind if he goes back to the well at the G position,it would be round 3. I feel round 2 will either be DL or CB. But IMO,it's still a little early to tell. FA market is still open and there will still be cuts because of cap casulties and such. So to be more specific in my opinions,I would simply have to let Phil play out his hand in free agency first.

I hope Lewis can do what he did in Balt in 2003 or at least half of what he did in 2003. He did have his best year since 2003 last season so that's a plus. But it still doesn't say anything about what could or couldn't happen this draft. I really hope that he shows us what he can do again and we can keep him on this team for 4 more years. I heard he wants to retire in Cleveland.

The kid had some character issues that I think I can put aside now because he seems to have matured a TON since then. I just really hope this kid is ready to come in here and produce. Things I worry about are:

1.His hesitance to hit the holes. This past season Lewis was very dancy behind the O-Line and was hesitant to hit the holes at full steam. Maybe he wasn't confident with his O-Line or who knows, but he didn't show the ability to hit the holes.

2. His burst. He used to have a wicked burst when it came to hitting the holes. After watching last season his burst may not be there anymore. I hope it is.

3. His wear and tear. He hasn't had too many injury issues I think. But it could be that he's just wearing down faster than any RB I've ever seen, who knows.

I hope he's back to what he SHOULD be, but I don't have a ton of confidence in that. I'm hoping he proves me wrong this upcoming season.

Well with Droughns out of the picture now it seems that the Jamal Lewis will be our feature back..

Look at it like this:

If we were going to run a two RB-system don't you think we would have kept Droughns for a little while longer just in-case Peterson was drafted before our pick...

Also by cutting Droughns I think we are making the statement that we want Jamal to get 15-25 carries a game...

Thanks!

Dear Mr. Lewis,

According to dawgtalkers.net calculations, you owe the Cleveland Browns 1,524 yards rushing. We expect this payment in full over 16 installments in the 2007 NFL season. Payment can be paid in 17, 18, 19 and even 20 installments if necessary (20 installments is preferred...please). If extra installments are needed, we must add 50 yards interest to each post-16 game installment paid. Which amounts to 1724 yards in 20 possible games in the 2007 NFL Season.

We look forward to doing business with you.

Sincerely,
Cleveland Browns Fans

The more I think about it, the more I think there is a good possibility of something like this happening. Thomas will most likely be there unless Detroit trades out of the two spot. No way if Detroit stays they draft him. They already have their two tackles and will most likely take Quinn or trade with someone who wants him. Blaylock is a stud, plain and simple. If he is there in round 2, I have to think it would be awful difficult to pass up. That would be a serious improvement to our line. Look at what the Jets did last year in the draft. They took D'Brickashaw and Mangold and significantly improved. Our line would have the portential to be this in '08:

LT: Thomas
LG: Steinbach
C: Bently (hopefully)
RG: Blaylock
RT: Shaffer

Now I know this would be predicated on a lot of things happening, but the thought of that is unbelieveble. Why not? We addressed the LB's in a similar way last year. The addition of Thomas, Blaylock/Sears, and Jamal Lewis would significantly improve our offense. We could go d-line in the 3rd and CB in the 4th, or vise versa depending on who's available.

I dunno man, I've heard talk of Backus being a sick LG and then Detroit take Thomas to fill the LT spot. They'd have a great O-Line and they could afford to take Thomas at their spot. I don't see it happening b/c Backus is a proven LT, but Millen could do anything at his spot and he's shotty at best.

Just a thought.

Tatum Bell - #26 - Running back - 5'11" - 213lbs
News: The believed asking price for Tatum Bell is a second-round pick.
Impact: Giants general manager Jerry Reese wouldn't give up a third-rounder for Willis McGahee, so it currently appears as though Bell has little chance of landing in New York. The Lions will certainly have to lower their asking price if they hope to get something accomplished with Tatum Bell. (Thu. Mar 8, 2007)

Hmmm why is Detroit shopping Bell, (stirring the pot ) come on Detroit take AP with the second pick

I am not saying we won't or can't take two linemen at the top of the draft, but the backer comparison isn't a good one IMO.

We really needed backers having gone to a 3-4. We didn't have enough bodies. It isn't even a question about quality, it was a question of quality.

Not to mention backers make up a large portion of your special teams. Offensive linemen don't play many special teams.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Heat...this is a picture of a rebuilt offensive line that could block for our QBs and RBs for years to come.

Built with quality players via the best from free agency and the draft.

The weak link would be Shaffer but hopefully, he can turn it around and be the guy Savage thought he could be.

The ace in the hole would be Bentley returning for the 2008 season.

Now I like that offensive line...

Well Peen,I guess if "just any warm body will do" we have an OL now. But Savage seems at least publicly,to have the same determination to re-vamp this OL as he did to upgrade our LB'ing corp last year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Like I said,I think the rest of FA signing period playing out will give us a much better indication.

There is no way I can look at it like that legitimately - it's just way too much of a stretch, especially given the player. Try looking at it this way:

We brought in Lewis on a one-year deal. He wanted to stay with the Ravens - they didn't want him. He tested the FA market - no one else really expressed interest. The only interest I've heard expressed was from the Browns and Ravens, both on one year deals. If he were viewed as a franchise back with longevity, teams would at least be looking at him for a 2-5 year deal (there's no way he takes the one year if other options are available). Long-term feature backs don't get one year deals. This is a guy who has rushed for 3.4 and 3.6 YPC behind a line better than ours for the past two seasons. In the off-season, he had surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle that he's still recovering from. He hasn't been the "only" back in Baltimore for three years now. Yet... you think that Savage would sign this guy to a one-year deal then cut Droughns so that he can get 350+ carries without any kind of decent spell runner or backup? That just doesn't add up.

Either Savage has been drinking Kool-Aid from the Jamal Lewis camp or there's a spot on our roster for a back to eat some of the carries (eventually taking over when his one-year contract expires). Enter Peterson.

If we plan on entering this season with only Lewis, Wright and Harrison, we're in big trouble. Savage has to realize that.

That's more the play calling than it is Lews' fault. I DO count on him getting 20 plus in games throughout the season. Not every game, but he'll get his share of touches.

who is that that needs a RB? the lions? how about we send both Droughns and Wright... for a 5th round pick.. they need RB's right? lol..

Peterson better be our pick!!! if a Peterson/ Lewis tandem works out.. maybe Lewis may actually like it, and will sign long term. Our RB depth will be set for atleast 3-4 years then.. with Harrison/Barclay as the 3rd back..
