Interesting. I wonder how long it will take Mary Kay or Tony to ask if Holmgren is interested in becoming a HC again.

Cleveland Browns President Mike Holmgren to meet media
By: Tony Grossi

BEREA -- Browns President Mike Holmgren has scheduled a surprise appearance in the team media room for 11:45 this morning.

It will be Holmgren's first formal press conference since Oct. 21. At that time, running back Peyton Hillis' contract dispute was a hot topic and Holmgren was fending off criticism for appearing on a Seattle radio show while shunning local media.

Now, Holmgren has been criticized for remaining silent while coach Pat Shurmur has struggled to explain the club's handling of quarterback Colt McCoy after he suffered a concussion late in the Pittsburgh game last Thursday.

Wonder if it will be "everything is on track; we did the right thing with McCoy", or "we are making changes to be sure this doesn't happen again".

I have to leave, so I hope you guys give a running commentary.

Do these things EVER start on time??

Met with NFL, the union, etc in regards to the McCoy concussion issue - he's here to clear the air.

So far it's nothing like that at all.. In fact, he seems ticked off and seems to really want to take the media by thier collective necks and choke the heck out of them LOL

he's giving a blow by blow description of the events of that situation

Was not tested on the sideline because:

After the hit on the field - our doctors and trainers did not see the hit on the field; they were working on other players.
They heard a crowd reaction and someone said "Colt's down". Two trainers came out to look at Colt while someone else went out to look at Alex Smith.
They followed the typical procedures... Colt was lucid and talking and complaining only about his hand. He was conscious and able to carry on a conversation and sit up.
Still only complained about his hand.
He got up and walked to the sideline under his own power and sits on the bench.
Doc comes over while he's sitting on the bench, because nobody in the training staff saw the hit and there was nothing symptomatic of head trauma, the concussion test was never administered by the Doc.

saying trainers didn't see the play.....maybe not live, but you know they have this thing called replay and i would bet they played it on the big screen

and regardless, the NFL or the Browns need to have someone watching for possible head injuries (which means having a medical professional watching the plays). they talked about this in the preseason and it is disconcerting that it is not being done.

So the trainers are supposed to stop doing their jobs and diagnosing the injury being complained about in order to watch the scoreboard replay?

Holmgren just said he passed the test after the game. So he would have passed them on the field too.

and if your going to pull a player into the locker room for a concussion test every time they get hit hard and still don't show ANY symptoms, you better increase the roster sizes, cause half your starters won't finish the games. Running backs and tacklers get hit in the head almost every play.

My thing is SOMEONE saw that play..sorry but too many players even on the sideline not to have seen the hit.
Now they did show CM after he went to the sideline and they were checking his hand.
But I thought that was too violent a hit for him to come right back in.

exactly, at minimum, you hold him out a few plays just to make sure, not 80 seconds

I've seen guys take a shot to the head and be perfectly fine, or so it would seem, for a couple of hours. Stuff happens. That's why they call it "practicing medicine" because they never get it quite right.

I get that some players probably saw the play, but do you really think a player is going to go running to the trainers when CM isn't showing any symptoms. I have to believe if CM was mumbling plays in the huddle, somebody would have mentioned something.

Just clicking

are you guys watching this? I mean, he's explaining it., makes sense to me.. Grossi is asking HOW COULD IT BE that nobody on the sidelines saw the hit..

Holmgren says,, he doesn't know, but nobody said anything...

Are we really gonna whine our last weeks of this season about a Harrison hit?

I'd rather hear some Q&As about the actual PLAY on the field and how he sees it for future moves/non moves etc etc

but we rather watch a PC about spilled milk....so this is our highlight of the season?

Didn't say players were going to go tell..but for it to be said no one saw it is not the truth.
The trainers ran out to him...before they even go out there they should be alerted he did get a blow to the head.. even if he isn't showing anything wrong.

You mean it's ONLY about the Colt concussion issue? I want to hear what he has to say about EVERYTHING we've seen (and smelled) this year.

well, not quite. it would have held him out for that series as the concussion tests take 6-8 minutes according to the NFL guidelines.

Well, he was just asked if Shumur is going to be the HEAD COACH next season,, Holmgren said yes, and when asked to elaborate,, he said, OK,, he's going to be the HC Next season.....

As for if that's all they are talking about,, hell, that's all they are asking until now..

Asking about Hillis Contract and Cribbs stuff..

Grossi asked why he brought CM back in even with no concussion, because he wasn't 'tearing it up'. He basically ask why CM wasn't pulled for Wallace.

They're going after that now. And Holmgren is about to go all medieval football coach on them. I'm rooting for him.

he just said that we have a young, competent HC who will be here a long time.

Man, he is ticked off and challenging reporters that ask dumb questions...LOL I'm lovin this...

Says that if they'd have done 2 things better during the games this year we could be at 7 wins instead of 4.

Those two things,, SNAP THE BALL BETTER and CATCH A FEW MORE PASSES.....

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Browns-did-not-check-McCoy-until-after-game-41238383

This should cost people their jobs.

It also muddles the excuses because Holmgren is contradicting Shurmur's statements about the attention that McCoy received regarding the concussion injury sustained.

When all this shakes out, I think Shurmur will be gone a so will the trainers and medical staff.

J/C...

I'm listening on WTAM. My impressions of this conference is that Homlgren seems to be more upset than I've ever heard him, the longer it goes the less sense his explanation makes and he seems to be talking in circles to me.

And Grossi is still an, ahem, "patoot".

Ugh. I feel worse about all of this than I did at 11:30 this morning, lol. GO BROWNS!

+10. Grossi is nothing more then a turd.

Ha, Holmgren just told the media that he feels like they're against the org. more then for it.
