agreed this is where they make their money.
1. Stick with McCoy and hope for the best (or bottom out for a QB next year) 2. Sign Flynn and hope that his preseason and 2 game regular season slate is truly telling for the future. 3. Trade up for RGIII even if it costs alot of draft picks (then do you start him right away or sit him for awhile) 4. Trade down / Stand pat and pick Tannehill and likely sit him for a year to develop him. 5. Draft a mid-round QB again and hope you can develop him if #1 fails.

Technically you can do 3 or 4 and 1 at the same time...
If Tannehill falls to 22 I see no way we pass on him...
But part of me thinks someone will jump ahead of us and grab him if that happens...
I don't think anyone is going to draft Tannehill with their original pick, either someone is going to trade back to grab him, or trade back into the first (Quinn style)

Yes, it would be my preference if we did 3,4, or 5 that we also do 1.

I say whatever the best QB they feel at one of our 4th rounders.
If a guy like Nick Foles out of Arizona dropped to one of our 4th rounders, I'd take him, good size, productive guy, some don't like him... He's been mocked in the 3rd round lately though so yeah... I dunno

Why is everyone making a big deal about AFC vs NFC as it pertains to a team for Manning?
It's not like Baseball where theres a noticable difference between conferences (DH)
Or even the NBA a few years ago when One conference (Usually the East) pretty much sucked after the top 2-3 teams while The other was solid through 5-7 teams...
I just don't get that part of the conversation...

Because Peyton Manning evidently has mentioned that he would love to play against his brother in a Super Bowl.
Can't do that if he signs with an NFC team.

Is he still going to be playing in 4 years when Tom Coughlin is about to get fired again?

Yeah, that's pretty easy ... On the flip side, if they both played in the same conference, then one or the other could possibly beat the other for a chance to go back to the SB too. Not to mention the same Division. Ie; Washington.

Peyton Manning will visit the Broncos Friday before tripping to Arizona and Miami, and will decide on his destination by Tuesday, according to the Denver Post. The former Colts quarterback has the Broncos on his 'short list,' according to reporters Mike Klis and Woody Paige, citing persons familiar with the situation.
According to the Post, Broncos brass including John Elway, coach John Fox and general manager Brian Xanders are in Oklahoma early Friday scouting Brandon Weeden, the Oklahoma State quarterback they could take with the 25th pick, should they not land Manning.
Manning has been cleared to throw and wants to make his decision early, knowing that the offseason plans of several teams hinge on his decision.
In Denver, Manning would supplant Tim Tebow as starter, taking over an offense which had the league's best running game and it's second-worst passing offense in 2011.

Yeah, Denver would be an ideal spot for Manning. The coaches could continue to work with Tebow, while winning a lot of games with Manning.
I would think that Manning going there, if he is healthy, would immediately make them a Super Bowl contender. (even though the QB doesn't really matter ........ you know)

I still think Miami is the best fit. They have the solid offensive line, the wide receivers, the defense, the location (not south beach, the warm weather). I will be surprised if it isn't Miami.
Also, wouldn't there still be a gaggle of Tebow supporters even if they signed Manning? I have to think he would want to avoid the possibility of sucking and then the delusional Tebow supporters chanting Tebow's name.

And so it begins.... Manning visits Denver. Hearts are all aflutter Quote:
DENVER (CBS4) – A plane carrying Peyton Manning has arrived in the Denver area.
The legendary quarterback is meeting with executives with the Denver Broncos to discuss the potential of signing with the team.
CBS4 reporter Gary Miller says Manning has strong interest in the Broncos and the team could be among the Top 5 teams Manning is considering....

Here's why I think that Manning will wind up in Denver: Good, young Offensive Line. Great running game so that Manning doesn't have to be the whole show. Great defense so that manning doesn't have to kill himself to win games. No team in the division finished over 8-8 last year, making the playoffs a very strong possibility right out of the gate. If he goes to Miami, he'll be facing the Jets and Patriots every year. Add in the Bills who can be troublesome and it's an already strong division with Miami being one of 2 up and coming teams. I can't see Manning going to the Jets. Ryan doesn't strike me as his kind of coach. KC could be a possibility, and is probably 2nd on my list of possibilities. Again, weak division, even better defense than Denver, Bowe and Breaston at WR, and a solid OL. I could see him going to the Cardinals, except that he doesn't seem to want to go to the NFC. Here's a possibility I heard ..... Manning seems to really like the Texans ...... so he signs there, and the Texans trade Schaub to the Redskins. Then the Dolphins sign Flynn ........ Interesting conjecture anyway. Right now though, if I had to put money on it ....... my money would be on the Broncos. He was a horse, and a horse he could remain.

The only question then is, do they keep Tebow and try to groom him to be the guy later...
Or strike while the Tebow iron is hot and ship him somewhere (Jacksonville maybe? Why the hell didn't they just draft him?)
They could then draft a guy late, and finally get rid of the Mania that IMO Elway is tired of...

I would think that they could work to improve Tebow.
Tebow has great size and a rocket arm. He has pretty solid accuracy when his mechanics hold up. I think that he needs work reading a defense. I see him as a guy who could be really good down the road ...... if a team works with him. If Denver had Manning to take the starting role, then they could really spend time developing a backup, because they won't need to develop Manning, obviously.
Plus, how much more is Manning going to play? Maybe a couple of years? I can't see him still going in 3 years. That could be perfect for Denver, if they can round off Tebow's rough edges over that time frame, they could have something.

I think every lick of that is true.. and I'll add one more. I've read on here and other places that the wish of Payton and Eli Manning is to face each other in the Superbowl.. So obviously, that means AFC for Payton,,, AND it means a team that has the pieces and parts in place to to allow Payton to be the final piece of the puzzle,,
the more I think about it, the more perfect it sounds..Only hitch I see is the weather.. no dome for Payton to play in at home..

Peyton Manning played his college football at Tennessee. If the owner of the Titans gets his way, that’s where Manning will resume his professional career as well.
Adams told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean that he wants Manning in Tennessee, and he’s willing to spend what he has to spend to make it happen.
“He is the man I want. Period,” Adams said. “And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”

How does this affect us?
If the Titans sign Manning that means they will release Matthew Hasselbeck. Matthew Hasselbeck has pretty strong ties to Mike Holmgren and the west coast offense.
I don't think it is likely, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Didn't we have a shot at getting him before and not take it? I am not a fan of getting stop gaps but as far as that goes,, he might be what McCoy needs to learn from.. Just thinking outside the box a little..

that's pretty funny-- i can't really see the infatuation with a 29 year old rookie. Its a wasted pick if you ask me. If it takes 3 years to learn the WCO, that leaves him retiring in about another year or so..... But some think we should draft him at the top of the second round. Glad they are not running the show.

So if it takes three years to learn the WCO why are we calling for McCoy's head, he still needs two more years to learn it.
I would take a Matt Hasselbeck, not only because he proved he can still play last year but because he could probably teach McCoy or whatever QB may be here more about the WCO than Shurmer ever could.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

so did you choose the purple to be sarcastic I'm not calling for his head, I'm calling for QB competition and let the best guy win. The problem is, Colt regressed this year, it was troubling to watch. He lost his confidence way before he got his bell rung.

I had the same thought. It'd be an about perfect way to bring him along and simply spend a year or (pending Hasselbeck getting us competitive) two to get immersed in the WCO nomenclature of the playbook, tinker with his footwork, and get him to maybe tweak that release some. As for Hasselbeck, he's simply an upgrade over Colt. If you're trying to field the best football team and gauge where you're at elsewhere on the offense, you can't ignore improving it. Hoping Manning chooses the Titans to at least give us a potential safety net starter at QB.

UPDATE, 2:02 p.m. ET: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter that the 49ers have already watched Manning work out, visiting Duke on Tuesday night. Schefter characterized San Francisco as a "long shot" to land Manning, but the team is still in the picture.
If true, that would help explain why the Niners have not yet re-signed QB Alex Smith, who happens to be (along with Manning) a client of agent Tom Condon.
Schefter also said the Cardinals have been "advised" to proceed as if Manning won't come to Arizona. They owe QB Kevin Kolb a $7 million bonus in less than two hours, otherwise he becomes a free agent.
***
UPDATE, 1:50 p.m. ET: The Broncos are offering Manning a five-year contract worth $60 million -- half of it guaranteed -- per beat reporter Mike Klis of The Denver Post .
Manning signed a five-year, $90 million pact with the Colts last summer, but Indianapolis terminated that deal last week, opting not to pay the $28 million bonus that triggered the final four years of the package given the uncertainty of Manning's health and the franchise's ability to replace him with Andrew Luck in next month's draft.
