And this is what I said in my very first post.
My point has always been that the punishment and the explanation of the punishment just don't ring true.
The PD admits that a columnist would be given more leeway in a matter like this. They say Tony isn't a columnist. What does a columnist do? He gives his/her opinion on things. In 2 of the 3 things that Tony does/did as an employee of the PD he was REQUIRED to give his opinions on things about the Browns. Pretty much a columnist if you ask me.
I've never argued that what he did wasn't dumb or that he shouldn't be punished. I just think that the PD overreacted and most probably kowtowed to the Browns on this matter.

You want to read fluff bad things I want to read whats really going on and the only way as a beat reporter is to write what going on not not what you think should be going on.
You just as I can give our opinion on if it was right or wrong but neither of us will be right. WHY because the only ones that matter sign paychecks and they are right even if you feel they are wrong.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

Well, no, actually I'm not wrong. If I had said the sun was pink, that would be wrong. I stated an opinion which I backed up with a few observations. Your posts and Daman's to a certain extent fall into the "I'm right, you're wrong, I'm plugging my ears now" category. Amusing to read but not really adding anything to the discussion.
As I've said many times I don't expect to change any minds when I post in a thread like this. Guys like you don't like to have their set in stone ideas challenged and tend to get downright nasty when that happens. I've seen it too many times not to expect it. But I also feel that posting a dissenting opinion lets everyone know that things are not always black and white.

No, (*slaps forehead*) it has nothing to do with GRAMMAR or spelling or your lack of mouthwash. In the first example you restated a fact (that the PD considers him a beat writer, not a columnist) that I had stated in almost every post before that because that point was central to my point that I felt he could be considered columnist. Hence the Captain Obvious moniker. In the second example you changed it to say YOU considered him just a beat writer. Thereby changing the gist of the argument. You see, I can legitimately take issue with what the PD says because I believe they are being disingenuous if not downright dishonest. Taking issue with your opinion is worthless because you are never going to change YOUR opinion. I'll assume your comprehension problems in this matter are because your assistance monkey had the day off......

Thats about the only thing I do agree with Otto on in this thread he has his I have mine and everyone else has theirs.
In the end the only one that counts was the PD's.
