That list reminds me a lot of madden. Made me excited to see how they will project.
Shame I can't simulate 6 seasons in an hour to find out

A guy I don't see on the list and has some personal issues is Janzen Jackson. He was a safety for Tennessee before being dismissed. Great skills and potential if he can get his head right. Finished up at McNeese State. Run's a 4.37 40. He is one of my sleepers but the off the field issues are a flag. Could be a late round gem if he got his stuff together and would be a great Gunner on Special teams.

Crazy, I actually got to attend a McNeese State game two years ago.... nobody really stood out to me in that game, though.

That would explain it, then... because it was a game against SELU (Southeastern Lousiana State) and if there was viable NFL talent on that field at the time, you'd have shocked me, lol.

OK.....maybe it needs some explanation on how one might end up at a McNeese St. v SELU game??
So what took you to Hammond or Lake Charles?
I have family down in that general area, so I know where those schools are located.....both off I-10, maybe 125-150 miles spread.

I went down there for the Browns-Saints game that fall. The friend I was staying with (old Navy shipmate) lives in Hammond and worked in the Multimedia Dept. for SELU.... so, the night before the Browns game, we went and hit the SELU Homecoming game. It was a good time SELU lost, btw.... and actually, ALL of the home teams lost that weekend (SELU, LSU and the Saints) I told him that I'd happily come back any time he wants to bet against all of them, hehe

Ahhhh....I know it can be said for many places, but somehow it rings just a little truer in this case, those south Louisiana folks know how to party.

It is definitely a good time, and you can't beat the food I wish I could recall the name of the restaurant in Hammond that was so good - the Etouffe was off the charts good. That place and Middendorf's.... I'm planning trips back there just to go to those restaurants again

No doubt about the food.
Like I said, I have some family down there( near N.O.), so I knew where the schools were, and have driven I-10 a time or two through Hammond and Lake Charles, but can't say I have spent any time there other than maybe gas up or grab a bite to eat at some interstate exit.

If Jeffrey runs in the 4.4s his stock will go through the roof and I am back to liking his potential to being a number 1 receiver. He has such a wide catching radius, has soft hands, can make the circus catch and runs great routes. The questions around him are his straight line speed and ability to get seperation.
His attitude is great and said he know's he is Physical and can make big plays in big games but admitted he will work on his speed coming into the combine. He said he want's to be like Fitzgerald, Calvin and Andre Johnson(of course).
I was just watching some highlights and he has some good vision with the ball in hand. He showed some nifty moves and seen him get seperation and pull away from defenders. He can go up and get it with a DB draped on him and has really good concentration and over the shoulder catching ability. I just worry about the Mike Williams syndrome..

Is Mike Williams syndrome when a player gains 100 pounds and is out of the league in two years?
On a side note, I feel like these rookies will be playing harder because they have to earn their fat paychecks instead of just getting paid right when they come in the league.

I like him a lot as well, and if he's there at 22 I'd be dying to have him -- but I've never seen his routes characterized as "great" before -- they always looked a bit rounded to me.
That says, he has the best hands in this draft easily - the three most important components for a WCO receiver are hands, route running, and YAC,
I care much less about straight line speed, because we're not running many routes to beat man coverage deep. Also, in this new era where DBs can barely sneeze on a receiver and QBs are becoming more accurate - there's very little defenses can do to stop receivers with big size advantages. We like dual TE schemes in this offense - and having another WR who causes those sort of matchup problems would be a huge boost to the offense.
Jeffrey definitely has 2/3 - Floyd I think is the real deal for a WCO receiver -- but whether they are there at 22 will depend pretty heavily on their 40 times.

Seems like those are the most important attributes for all wide receivers besides the ones drafted by Al Davis.

Yes
But he lost all motivation when he entered the NFL and took a pay cut

Not necessarily - take the Pittsburgh run and gun offense from the last 10 years (or the "gun" only offense of the last two) - I definitely want that home run deep-threat in those sorts of offenses, even if there are a few drops involved.

Kind of off topic, but seeing how the NFL and NCAA are beginning to allign with one another as far as discipline (see Terrell Pryor) I think they should implement a rule where if a player is caught breaking certain NCAA regulations (accepting monet from agents, etc) that they would be forbidden from partaking in the NFL combine. If players feared hurting their draft stock due to the reprucussions of their NCAA violations it may serve as a greater deterrent.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I totally disagree. I think the NCAA is overreaching in their expectations of the athletes behavior off the field and to extend that to what is expressly a business would be in very poor taste.

and the NFL would have none of it. once they played their last game, the NCAA has no jurisdiction over them anymore and the NFL is not about to give them that power.

Teams would just work them out a different time. All the players already participate in Pro Days as it is.

I agree with your premise, I think, that it's a crappy system when a kid breaks the rules, declares for the NFL.. then the coach gets slammed, the program gets slammed, the kids still on the team who did nothing wrong get slammed.. but the kid that broke the rules walks away without any real punishment...
But I still don't think your system will work. If you were an econ major and got caught cheating on a history test, the school can punish you but they can't prevent you from going to a job fair or an interview.. and that's basically what you are asking them to do.

I totally disagree. I think the NCAA is overreaching in their expectations of the athletes behavior off the field and to extend that to what is expressly a business would be in very poor taste.
I tend to agree, many of their regulations are way out of line for today's day and age.

But I still don't think your system will work. If you were an econ major and got caught cheating on a history test, the school can punish you but they can't prevent you from going to a job fair or an interview.. and that's basically what you are asking them to do.
excellent analogy man

i'm very surprised not to see Adcock listed. he looked very good when I saw him play and thought that he was a surefire combine entrant. I do know he has a knee injury he is nursing.
guess that means we can just get him later in the draft?

Well, according to their site their aim is to invite all prospects that will get drafted, they invited over 300 players....Adcock is ranked 247th by nfldraftscout and has a non draftable grade by PFW...I'm not agreeing with this, but just saying...maybe there is a medical or character or whatever red flag

`I liked Adcock as well but he is a guy that just never got down into a 3 point stance. I still have him as a 3-4 round grade but just like with the spread QBs, gotta project the spread OT's also.

I agree with you about the NCAA overreaching views but aren't universities expressly a business?

It is surprising that he isn't listed. Adcock will be drafted and he'll be playing in the NFL. I guess they just needed to add some kickers and punters on the list of invitees.

Wouldn't shock me if Alshon Jeffrey showed up fat and overweight

Na ... He'll wait until after some fools draft him and then he will eat himself out of the League in 3-4 years.
I can't believe those that still think this guy is a 1-2 round range.

No doubt he's lost some luster.
I think he started to believe some of the things being said, which were true, then quit working. He needs to adjust his attitude. He is still a good prospect, but I'd take several receivers over him at this point.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Pre-Combine News & Notes 14 Feb As we move closer to the combine here’s the latest news and notes making their way around the scouting world as players, coaches and NFL decision makers prepare to descend on Indianapolis. Feb 14th: Updates on Toone, Burfict & Boykin - Sources tell me the recent injury, or re-injury. to the foot of Nick Toon/WR/Wisconsin, continues to be an issue. Evidently in recent training for the combine, specifically when working on starts for the forty, Toone was experiencing significant foot pain. Everyone we’ve spoke with say its unlikely the Wisconsin receiver runs at the combine. - On the other hand I’ve been told the reported broken leg suffered by Brandon Boykin/CB/Georgia at the Senior Bowl was nothing more than a leg injury and is a dead issue as far as teams are concerned. Boykin has been training for the combine and we hear he looks sharp. There’s been no definite word on whether or not he’ll run in Indianapolis. - The buzz around Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict unfortunately continues to be negative. I was told at the Senior Bowl when he showed up for combine training in January, Burfict looked soft and out of shape. Latest word has him completing less than 15 reps on the bench recently and Burfict has been slowed by a leg (hamstring) issue. All that we’ve talked with say the biggest issue surrounding the often times dominant linebacker is work ethic. Feb 10th - Many are still wondering what position Melvin Ingram will be playing in the NFL; Outside linebacker? Defensive end? Three technique tackle? Much will be determined by his combine workout, specifically his forty time. If what we’ve been told over the past few days comes to fruition those who project Ingram to outside linebacker will breathe easier. I’ve been told expect Ingram to run in the 4.6’s at the combine, terrific speed for someone who tipped the scales at 276-pounds at the Senior Bowl. Someone that’s viewed Ingram’s recent workouts in recent weeks referred to him as “fast” and “athletic”. Another person familiar with the South Carolina program went a little deeper. Seems Ingram previously ran in the 4.4’s early in his Gamecock career, albeit 40-pounds ago and many are convinced a time in the 4.6’s, or possibly faster, is legitimate for the play making defender. If he runs close to the times Ingram will skyrocket up boards. - A report surfaced on Twitter last week that Alabama safety Mark Barron underwent surgery to repair a double hernia and will be out until July. Sources I spoke with confirmed the report and it was double hernia surgery- at the Senior Bowl word was it was just single hernia. At the same time I was told the recovery should be no more than 4-to-6 weeks, 8 at the most, from the time the surgery was completed. - Another pass rusher that’s looked good in combine training has been Syracuse junior Chandler Jones. I’m told the majority of teams presently grade Jones at defensive end on their draft board and think moving him to outside linebacker in a 3-4 is a stretch. - I am also hearing Michael Floyd looks good and will run a forty time faster than anyone presently predicts. The good news is Floyd is healthy from the injuries which kept him from attending the Senior Bowl. The better news is he plans on running at the combine, barring any last week tweaks. - Mike Adams combined terrific play during the Senior Bowl with solid interviews all week. Adams evidently answered all questions the scouts had about any perceived character issues. The former Buckeye continues to climb draft boards. - Former Auburn tackle Brandon Mosely, who missed the Senior Bowl due to a bout of viral meningitis, is completely healthy and plans on working out at the combine. - As we posted on Twitter, many were caught off guard when Miami-Ohio lineman Brandon Brooks was not invited to the combine. Brooks was the top player during Shrine practices and has been graded as a third rounder by a number of teams. Brooks will be one of the busiest post-combine players that travels the nation. Ten teams have already told the big blocker they will bring him in as one of their allotted pre-draft visits. For Brooks these visits are likely to be more involved than other players flying visiting franchises. Teams will be completing full physicals and other work usually reserved for players at the combine when Brooks arrives at the facility. web page
